DVD Drive For XBOX

The first thing you will think is that this about what kind of DVD drive do I or a friend has. But It's not at all. It is about he DVD Drive in the XBOX.

Recently I had talked to a friend who I play alot of the time online with told me
that he had got a faster DVD drive. I'm tinking the same thing your, here is another crazy post, but actually it's not crazy.

My friend happens to work for a soft company that make DVD drives, but I told, " Just because you work for company that makes drive does mean you know about the drives in the XBOX".

So the only thing I could do was write to you guy's especially Cash, sice he does know allabout the drives that XBOX makes. So Cash or who ever can answer but I think Cash will be the best bet, not putting anybody else's knowing of the XBOX down, it just seems that this would be a ? more in Cash's area.

I'm pretty sure that their is no way you can put a New DVD drive that is compatible and is the right size to fit in the XBOX. Although you can have an external DVD drive that might work with your XB but again the ? is it possible.

Usually my friend is reliable, but on this case I'm taking to any member, most likely Cash, is their a New DVD drive that has been made fo XB that I dson't know about or can I tell my friend he is full of BS.

I don't think I will have any trouble with ananswer with this one. But I wanted to tell you and get the better answer. :headscrat

Yes you can I have it in mine its probably a modified samsung 616T drive you can't just put it in the box you have to MOD...

It is WAY faster than the normal drive but can have problems (for example mine will only read xbox games won't read DVD's or music cd's.. or any recordable media) Some will read anything.. others just xbox games.. but its hella fast compaired to the normal drive though...

Can be had on ebay search for xbox 616t

The DVD drives in an X-Box can be taken out and put into your standard everyday computer. They are the same shape and size and use the same connections.

The X-Box is basically a computer. Some people have actually turned them into a computer with slight modifications. They have a standard Hard Drive and DVD drive and even a Nvidia GeForce graphics card. The controller (Though the plugs are different) use USB connections. You can take them and cut the wire and splice a USB plug to them and use them on your computer (as long as you download a set of drivers that many people have available)

So knowing all of this... Is it so hard to believe that someone could put a faster DVD drive in thier X-Box? I dont think so. But there really wouldnt be much point to doing it.

Well Cash says you will need to make some Mods, but I still contend you could put any DVD drive in the X-Box with the same Mod.

hmm well you are probably right any drive probably can be modded to work with an xbox the problem is that for most drives it would not be economical.. there are certain drives that are easily modded and the samsung 616t is one of those the reason is..

Well I knew you or your brother could answer thatb ? Cash and I appreciate. So
Now that my friend was not lying about his XB, I don't get to givr him alot of crap because he usually is reliable, some of the times but not. In this case he was right.

Ok Cash I"m all ears I want ot know how to know what I need to mod my XB and
what kind of cables besides the ones Chaos told me about, The USB. When he told me he did it at first I was alittle sceptical but the truth is now clear and from 3 good reliable sourses.

So Cash, what type of mods do I need to get things on the way. I don't care about the movies or music or anything else I play basically games on my XB so
it would not bother me to do this, and with 860 DVDs and counting I have enough DVD players that will take care of that and my computer plays CD's.

I will go to Ebay and look up the samsung 616t and get but I need to know what else I need that you have not sayed in the post. Thanks for clearing the matter up.. Just one last ? how do you put in a quote box like you did on yours.

What the heck are you wanting to do to your X-Box? What Mod are you talking about?

If you just want the New DVD Drive then go online and do a search and buy one that someone else has already MODed. Thats what Cash did. Dont try to do it yourself.

As for the Controler MOD... Thats just if you want to use an X-Box controller on your PC. Some of us are so used to the X-Box controller that it makes sense to use it on your PC instead of switching between 2 different styles

Yeah there are 100's of mods you can do.. if its just the DVD drive go to ebay and serch for this "616t xbox"

Then read the description and make sure it HAS BEEN modded (some are for sale so you CAN mod them but you want one that has already been MODDED.

Make sure whoever you buy it from will send you instructions.... and you will need to open your xbox and cut some stuff off the case and stuff so be prepaired.. maybe your friend will do it for you...
