Yeah... that is the case with Syler. I can say this freely because they introduce it in the first episodes, but he takes their powers by cutting open their heads.
I really love the way he plays that character. The actor kind of reminds me of a more cleaned up Jason Schwartsman. He plays the uneasiness of being a person who once felt that he was small, insignificant, and powerless, but now his powers have created this sub personality that shows through, one that seem to be literally "drunk with power".
Ripper have you figured out what Hero (the japanese guy) can do with his power because I remember a couple of episodes ago when he somehow reversed the bullet the girl was going to shoot at him, did you get that or what?
Hero has the power to control time.....however it seems he has lost confidence in his power and as his cinfidence waiver so do his powers.
As far as Sylar goes I too love the way the actor is playing him. I think he and Peter petrelli are the final good and bad because the way sylar uses his powers gives him the same ability peter has only sylar has to disect people to see how their brain works in order to recreate their power within him.
Sylar original power fyi was the ability to see how things work which made him an excellent clock maker which is where he got his name from Sylar Clock brand name.
He's good. At least he has good intentions, but then again so does Claire's (the cheerleader) dad, the horn rimmed glasses guy. Intentions arent always the best things.
Yea do you think Claires dad will still appear throughout the series or do you think he's done with, the guy earsed his memory so some how I just can't see seeing him again, but what do you guys think????
sylar has to disect people to see how their brain works in order to recreate their power within him.
Great observation Esi! I knew he was the watch repair person, but I didn't put the two together that he doesn't take their power so much as recreate it from what he sees in thier heads. You are on the ball!
And HIRO (not hero) has the ability to stop time or take himself into a different time.
Isaac wanted to kill Peter cause he was bangin his Girlfriend.
Im wondering if the crazy split personality blonde chick is really going to get too and kill Peters brother. (you know the senator guy that can fly) She did make the deal to be a hitman for that guy in Vegas.
Oh did they ever show what the cop did with the diamonds>?
So what'd you guys think of the latest episode? Can't believe I have to wait a month and a half for the next one.
And I think Esimorp's analysis of Sylar is dead on. He can see how things work...so he takes the "heroes" brains and analyzes them, somehow making the necessary changes in his own mind.

Love this show, also love the fact the Peter Petrelli is like the anti-Sylar. Should make for an intersting showdown once Pete gets a handle on his powers.
I thought this last episode was great, but I was really upset to find out we have to wait for the next ones. Next season they should do it like 24, where there is no break.
So... I wonder... If Syler cut open the Clair's head, wouldn't it just heal? What if the reason Clair is the key is because if Syler figured out how to heal and be nuclear, he would become the ultimate weapon?
And... when Hiro visited Peter from the future, he said something about Peter not having the scar. If he can regenerate like Clair though, why would he have a scar?

I like how Peter is the anti-Sylar, but has a bit of a darkside in him.
As far as the whole Peter and the scar thing, I have heard lots of discussion about this....this discussion includes:
a) Peter meets up with Hiro and mentions his run in with Sylar...and the fact that he doesn't have a scar to show from it gives Hiro hope that the future can be changed.
b) Something happens (gets knocked out perhaps) to Peter such that while he is able to escape Sylar, he is not able to heal the cut before it heals over to become a scar.
There are probably other theories, but I can't remember them at the moment.
I'm loving how all the characters are interconnected and "battle lines" are beginning to be drawn (as well as a glimpse at who is at the head of each)

I think peter has not completely harnesed the healing ability so when he trys to heal himself he could only heal so much but not all the way, and doesn't Syler have to kill people before he can get theirs ability's???
Yeah, he has to kill them...mainly because he needs to see their brains and how they work (which he can't really do that with them alive). That and he wouldn't want those people ratting him out, I suppose.

No way either of them can die........
I think it will be interesting to see how this first encounter goes. Given that Sylar has more control of his powers he will win the first battle. Peter will have to run and of course he will heal himself because of course claire healed herself after she had the spike removed from her head. Which brings up claire's weakness so it seems. she was incompasitated when the spike was in her head but as soon as it was removed she healed. that was the only time she didn't regen.
I think after peter runs Sylar will turn to mohinder and try to torture him to get the list from him.
another question is Linderman good or bad? I lean towards good. Is he behind the organization? Does he have powers?
I gotta think he has powers and is maybe like one of the original people the organization was trying to combat. which is why he want to put peter int he white house.
I think linderman has a power, for one I don't think to many people would be that calm if their gettting ready to get shot, He probably has super strength
ITs about freaking time it came back.......Ridiculous to wait so long. I think they made the first few episodes and waited to see if it was a hit befroe making others so thats probably what took it so long but jeesh it seems like its been forever. Need something to watch LOL.
Yeah MAS, on the NBC.com website...there's 29 "chapters" of short online comics...filling in the holes that we don't see in the shows...there's usually a new one every week or so I believe.

I liked the new episode, but it drove me a bit nuts in the beginning, cause I wanted to know what was happening to Peter right away! It was a good battle, but I can't wait for Peter to start really delivering blows to Syler.
Why do I think Mrs. Petrelli has a power of her own? Was she part of the group that Linderman was talking about?
Oh... and thanks for bringing up the novels. I had no idea!
Yeah, I get the sense that Mrs. Petrelli was part of the group with Linderman (which means she has a power)...from the way she ways saying how Claire would get the chance to learn from her experiences (mistakes?) I got the sense she was one of the ones who used it for her own gain...though now I'm not so sure.

I just read the latest comic and wow...in this "Five Years in the Future"...Sylar's the bomb and Sylar killed Claire...something I read makes sense now...a guy had a theory...
Sylar was the bomb, and was able to regenerate so future Hiro knew Claire must be saved (by Peter)...
Peter succeeds and gets Claire's (and Sylar's) powers on that night earlier in the season...
As a result of these powers, Peter and Mohinder were able to hold off Sylar for the time being (knocking him out)...
By knocking him out, he was late for his "meeting" with Isaac (as Isaac mentions in the episode) in which he kills him.
This brings up some questions...
Can Isaac only paint one distinct future? (since he painted the one in which Sylar came at an exact time...and Sylar came late)
And if that is the case, has future Hiro saved New York (though he doesn't know) or has he just opened the door for Ted/Peter to become the bomb?

Is it just me or do you guys think Mrs. Petrelli is a "bad" guy, why did Ted tell Claire that she should leave right after he agreed with Peter on how she should stay? those are the questions floating around in my head, those comics are pretty sweet thanx Slnt
