Bid increments..
Just a word here..
Lets say there is a guy with a $60mil 7 year bid.. and you outbid.. don't go outbidding by bidding $60.50 mil..
Thats silly and just makes Free Agency take longer. Make a good sized outbid.
Like on the above example a good outbid would be at least a $2mil increase. You figure on a 7 year contract that means you are only paying the guy roughly 200k a year more.
A $4-$5 mil increase (only 400k-500k more on the first year) would be even better.
now if you are strapped at your cap, and just trying to squeez in your guys thats understandable otherwise make a reasonable sized outbid, outbidding by TINY amounts only delays Free Agency.

I don't think there is anything wrong with just matching offers for your own guy. Or a guy you get a 10 percent bonus for.

I dunno if really everyone is understanding this.
I had an offer for a guy giving him over 7.5 million in the first year of a 7 year deal. 16 hours later i got outbid and thought that the new deal has to be something over 8 or 9 milllions for him, but it was a 3 year deal earning him 7.2 millions per year. What kind of tiny toony outbid is that? If persons outbid like that FA will last till end of days of planet earth
