Redskins lose 30-21 - Tri is happy with production

Hello everyone. As im sure you can imply from the title, i am very pleased with our performance this week. We fell early 24-0, it seemed like it would be a blowout but something clicked during the 2:00 minute warning. We drove down the field and scored to make it 24-7 at the half. Mark Brunell was one of the few who did not play up to par. He threw a touchdown and an interception. With Clinton out we needed Brunell to pass extremely well but that was not the case. Speaking of Clinton, it is almost a certainty that Cedric Cobbs will back up him. The past two games have shown Cedrics potential and his playmaking ability. Duckett will be moved to third string pending a great performance by him. Non-Starters David Patten and Taylor Jacobs played extremely well, combining for 163 yards and 3 touchdowns. The WR corp may see some moving and shaking within the next week. Now to move on to the reason we were even close to coming back, Brad Johnson. With 2 touchdowns and 193 yards in one half he led the troops back from down 17. He almost had another touchdown on the last play of the game but we had an unfortunate holding call. To lose by 9 to the Patriots is a blessing and im hoping we can get this kind of production when Clinton and Byron play. Any questions?

Well do you think you would have been a little bit closer or would have won the game if you would have ranned the ball more than 15 times.

This is tough because we didn't have Clinton playing. If we would have only ran the ball 15 times with Clinton i would have been upset. But with Cedric and T.J. its just not possible to run the ball as much as we would like. On the other hand we didn't really have much of a chance to run the ball because we were playing catchup the entire game. So to answer your question, yes if Clinton was playing, no if he wasn't.

Your team is performing better then most expected this preseason... What do you think is the reason for that?

I believe we can credit this to the quality of players that we have. Many of the players that we brought in along with the ones who were already here when i took over are of great quality. They may be queestioned for being so old but i think of the glass as half full. In my mind, they are veterans packed with leadership. Also when you ask that question our depth comes to my mind. Some amy say it suffers or its not adequete but i beg to differ. Most of the times our starters play exceptional but the times when they don't, such as today in the patriots game, the backups pick up the slack. The backups are the reason we came close in that game. Brad Johnson and another select few saved that game for us when Mark Brunell and the 1st stringers didn't play well. I think alot of things can be attributed to the near victory and our preseason success.

any thoughts of starting Johnson and bringing in Brunell with the second unit to take a look at Johnson with the first string vs. some first string defenses? That is if you are not playing Byron. Are you? Playing Byron that is?

Byron will be playing, along with Clinton. So Ravens if you want to make it a regular season-like game, put in your starters. Ha but anyway, yes we are going to play Byron and Brad should come in with the second string offense. This game should really give us a good idea where we are at this point.

You seem happy with the way your team has played thus far... Would you say that after seeing the team play a couple of preseason games that the Super Bowl is a legitamit possibility?

With our talent and a little bit of luck i believe we can make it to the Super Bowl. It really depends on matchups and how our team works together. If the players work together and play a few perfect games, get some upsets, than i would definatly say would could be a contender.
