To start off from my standpoint as a coach and owner, this performance by our pass defense is absolutely unacceptable. We gave up 491 yards passing, and 7 passing touchdowns, 5 from Manning and 2 from Jim Sorgi. This will not be tolerated by any means. As a coach we have to let our team know about it. And believe me, after the game I gave them hell about it. I understand that we don't have the most talent on our defense, but no reason we should give up 491 passing yards. That will not happen again.
Now, I have to give the Colts credit, they played this game like a regular season game, they didn't let up and gave us all we can handle obviously. Manning shredded our defense. It was embarassing on our part, but amazing on theres. Manning goes out every game preseason or not and gives it all he has. He's a real competitor and you have to admire that in him. We held there running game to 58 yards and a big part of that was because they could pass on us all day.
Our offense scored 35 points and we lost by 12 points. I can't express my thoughts enough to how unacceptable that is.
We play Houston next week and we'll work to improve all areas of our game then.

As you may think "Wow, is he semi retarted? He got rid of Torry Holt, and Isaac Bruce!?" Yea, I got rid of them, but also I got young talent back, talent I can use in the future. I came to this team with a veteran team, and it wasn't getting younger. So I decided to get rid of some veterans to get some younger players for a future, and thats what I've been doing. And will continue you to do.
Now, I open up the floor to anyone with questions.

How do you feel your team will finish in the division now with all those trades?

For Madden people the best way to explain it is that he has a very low awareness.
Many of the fans in St Louis feel like the team has given up on this season already. Is that fair to say? Do you believe the playoffs are a possibility this year? Is it fair to say your team is now in a rebuilding process?

First off, an opinion cannot be wrong....its an OPINION
Ok, good. In my opinion, you're an idiot. Good thing I can't be wrong!

This season if you want to be an optimistic you can say we'll finish 2nd, but if you want to be a realist I'd say 3rd to 4th in our division. Am I dogging on our team? No, this division this year is going to be tough, and we have a very young team and are in a rebuilding process. I'm optimistic that we'll do good this season, but as far as the division and playoffs go it'll take a lot but we'll definitely give it all we have to finish better.

Well we definitely haven't given up on the season, we will never give up we'll fight to the end we've simply moved some of our veteran players for younger talent for the future.
The Playoffs? As an optimistic the playoffs are a possibility but it takes a whole season to get the schemes in place, and a good 2 years, sometimes 3 to get the players in your schemes that you need. So realistically this season its far fetched, but in 2 - 3 years definitely a possibility.
Yes, my coaching staff and I, along with the owner have decided to enter a rebuilding process. It might be a rough first year, but we'll make it through and hopefully by the end of the season you'll all have something to look forward to watching as we build our team up for seasons to come.

Sir, this reporter would like to point out that no team in the league ever gets younger.
How do you respond to critics that say you harnessed an offense that has the potential to be one of the best in the league? And once these project players have turned themselves into prime-time players after a few years, do you plan on trading them because they are not getting younger?

I just tell them that we're moving into a younger direction and hope to build a offense like that again but it comes to a point where you have to get younger.
When it comes to the right time yes we'll probably move some of these players.
