disc's go bad?
heres what happened,,,,
finally upgraded to Maddan 07 for PS2 about two weeks ago,my PS2 was about 3 years old,and was told it was of the kind that about 40% had issues with locking up and going bad,something to do with how the loading trey was designed
was playing a game last night (zilch on TV) and it started lagging,sometimes between plays it would take 60-70 seconds to catch up,,,,about the end of the third quarter it froze up again,and i figured it would kick back in in a few secs
no such luck,,,pulled the disc,and used the disc cleaner,popped it back in,but it wouldnt load,got a "disc read error" and it would only open the console browser screen
tryed several other games,same result,disc read error,figured the unit went bad finally,stopped off bought a new unit today,one of the real slim tiny ones (amazingly small),set it up,popped 07 in and all was well,looked like it was going to pick up at the last saved part of the franchise prior to the freeze
it loaded to the point right before the actual begining of the game where it describes the different roles the players can achive,and freezes,reset several times,each with the same result at the same point
tried several other games including 06 and everything runs fine,,,,did my 07 disc get damaged some how when my old unit gave up?
