Well another hard lost to take. I cant say that i was not happy with the overall effort. Alot of good things can be taken out of this lost. I felt the defense played its hearts out. On several situations we were able to stop them near the red zone. The heap play was a back breaker for us as it was the first major let down on the defensive side. We held a very talented runner in deuce to under 100 yards with a 3.2 yard average
However, with all that said the inability to run the ball again two weeks is very hard to take. In order for us to relieve pressure off the defense we need to be able to control the clock. Clock management is almost directly connected to good running games. At this point there is no clear answers, as a coaching staff we will work day and night in efforts to get the ball going again.Overall today was a big let down but there were alot of good that wouldd can take from the game.
Do you feel that Reggie Bush set a standard in the first game that he may not be able to match again? How do you feel about Reggie's game going into next week versus the Colts?
our faith in reggie bush as a talent has never change. Our views of reggie as a player were the same even before the chicago game. Our recent failure in the running game is a challenge to our team and coaching staff in coming up with a game plan to match the same success as the bears game. We are willing to work day and night and efforts to find those answers.
We feel good about our chances going into the colts game. We have full understanding that despite their present record that the colts are a very solid. We hope that we can come up with a better game plan then our two previous attempts showed for.
Do you feel that part of the problem may have been the numerous trades you made and the players you have now are just not a good fit with each other or your system ? Other than the strong showing against a weak Bears defense your offense has been horrible at best
i dont really feel that way. I think you have a bunch of new guys that need time to work with one another. In addition i think in some of those games we could have game plan better. We worked real hard as a coaching staff and organization to bring in quality character guys and talent. There isnt one second of the day that would would go back in time and not pick any of those quality character talents that we did. A season cant be judged on 3 games.
i think games against teams with fast strong lb are hard on any player not only reggie. When you look at todays linebacker its not the same as in years past. You have guys running 4.4 and just as strong as linebackers of the past trying to stop the run. I think that coaching staffs are now press to game plan better to combat this. Its just not as simple as calling sweep right or left... now teams have to game plan in order to find an edge against the new age linebacker. Similar situation is present in todays TE. Its crazy but slowly your seeing that all positions are a matter of just labels and not talent or speed.
