Raiders Week 3 PC
Defense, defense, defense. Once again, our defense carried us to a win. I guess I should be happy with the win today, but I’m extremely annoyed with our offense, partly to do with the play calling. Too often were draws and screens were called at completely inappropriate times. Many of the yards we gave up on defense were because Norv seems to have no concept of how to manage the clock.
As far as individual performances on offense today, it was still pretty pathetic. Our line can’t seem to open up a whole to save their lives. Our top-notch back gained only 50 some yards, and fumbled. I would have been twice if not for a overturned call. Hasselback had a decent day, but still couldn’t manage to throw over 200 yards or throw for a touchdown. It’s troubling when your offense only scores 2 touchdowns in 3 games.
I was however very please with the play of the Defense. Like I said before, they carried us to another win, holding the Denver running game to only 41 total yards, and scoring the games only touchdown, with an interception return by Asomugha. I’m actually a bit surprised there wasn’t more interceptions, considering the pressure we put on Boller. We ended up with a total of 7 sacks today, with Kelly Gregg leading the D with 3.
Last, but certainly not least… the teams top scorer. Billy Cundiff has served us well once again, kicking 4 for 4, from as far as 52 yards out. Billy is proving the importance of good special teams play. If it wasn’t for him, would could possibly be 0-3 right now.
In closing, our offense is running out of chances. If they don’t start making plays, there may be some changes before the 6 week trade deadline. The coaching staff will also be under the microscope, as the offensive play calling isn’t helping the matter. I think the offense should buy the defense some gift baskets this week… or with the amount we are paying them…. some Escalades.
