*Jets GM David walks to the podium with a dissapointed look on his face*
Well? What can I say? We blew it. We competed out there today with a good team in our division...but competing isn't enough. We play to win, not to compete. Our lack of execution on both sides of the ball is just disgusting. We didn't stick to the game plan and that killed us. This bye week is not going to be a fun time for our players, I will tell you that.
On offense, we just flat out didn't stick to the gameplan and didn't execute when we needed to. We had oppurtunities to tie the game up at the end with 2 minutes left, but horrible execution led to our loss. We give Chad free range to call plays out there, and quite frankly, I'm very disappointed at his decision making.
Two costly TDs and horrible decision making throughout the game and especially when we needed it the most crippled us. Chad will be spending a lot of time in the film room over these next two weeks. His play was unacceptable and we're not going to have that kind of result on the field. He gets paid a lot of money to do a job here in NY - WIN. Competing isn't enough. Marvin Harrison needs to get involved earlier in the game. Most of his catchs came at the end when the game was all but over. He's the premier WR in this league and he needs to be involved.
We are happy with Cadillac. He had a strong first half, but seemed to dissapear in the 2nd. However, he did get in 2 times for us and he was one of the few who seems to execute when he needed to. They really were on him like glue in the second, but he still managed to get in.
On defense, we made lots of good stops. Just not when we needed them most. We were surprised with the play of Martin Nance, who recorded 8 tackles and Williams came up big again with 8. However, we didn't get enough pressure on Brady. He had plenty of time to get the ball away. For the most part, we did a nice job of holding Deuce in check. He burned us early in the game on a 70 yard run for a TD, but other than that, I think we did what we wanted to on stopping the run.
We need to make big plays on offense and on defense. We need to execute and we need to win. We have a lot to work over the next couple weeks before we open at home against the best team in the league and World Champion Titans.
The floor is open for questions.
