Jets Week 1 PC

*GM David steps up to the podium with a smile*

Well, boys...That's what I call football! We stuck to our gameplan and we accomplished what we wanted - a W.

On the offensive side of the ball, we are pleased in a couple of areas. We wanted to give them a nice healthy dose of Cadillac and he had 31 carries for 143 and a TD. He also caught 4 out of the backfield, gained 32 yards and another TD. We are also very happy with Pennington's play today. He was effecient and that's what we want out of our QB. He finished the game completing 15/22 for 193 yards. He threw 2 TDs and unfortunately 1 INT. Howerver, he finished with a 106.8 Passer Rating and that's what we like to see.

We need to work on getting TE Hill and our slot reciever Hall into the game a little more. They can add some punch with their recieving skills and we'd like to see them get involved a little more.

On defense, we couldn't be happier. Everyone looks at our 'suspect' defense and automatically assumes we can be walked over. However, I look at this defense and see some rising stars and what could be a very promising group this year.

We kept their run game off all game and limited Randy Moss to only 102 yards and a TD. That's what we needed to do to win. The players executed the gameplan very well and our coaching staff is thrilled to see that with such a young defense.

Some of the more noticable performances come from a couple of veterans and a couple rookies. DT Williams and SS Archuletta provided big games with 4 tackles and 2 sacks, and 5 tackles and an INT, respectively. For the rookies, 1st and 2nd round picks Channing Crowder and Jimmy Williams came up big. Crowder with 6 tackles and 2 sacks, while Williams added 7 tackles and an INT. These are the types of games that we are going to need to get through this division on top.

Overall, we are pleased and exciting by today's performance. The mood of the locker room is great and everyone is high-spirited at the moment. I'll open the floor for questions now.

Do you feel that limiting a WR to 102 yards and a TD as a good defensive stand?

What do you feel your team did so effectively to force immense pressure at the line of scrimmage resulting in 5 sacks?

How would you evaluate Martin Nance - a WR at Miami of Ohio, now a CB for your team - in his first game as a Jet? Was he covering Rashaun Woods? Because if so, he shut him out.

When that WR is Randy Moss? Yes, 102 yards and a TD is considered a good defensive stand.

As for getting to the quarterback, I think that our line and LB coaches did a good job getting the younger guys prepared to find the weak spots up front. We're happy with that.

We really like Nance, he's quite the athlete. He's a new breed of CB, we hope, as you look around the league, there aren't many 6'5" corners with his hands and speed. He played nicely in his first game, and we feel that he'll only improve as he continues to play. For this last game, Nance was not covering anyone specifically. We're trying to let him get a feel for the offense and covering his side of the field. If play keeps up, we may see that change and he'll get the chance to take a WR one on one.
