Well, let me start by saying that our offense was an absolute disaster out there today. Every asset of the offense was bad, whether it was the quarterback, runningback, offensive line, the receivers..they were all bad. I don't know where Donovan was throwing some of his intended passes to out there. He really just couldn't get into a rhythm and settle down it appeared. Not to mention that the offensive line did a terrible job blocking for him, as he was sacked 6 times on the day. The offensive line did a bad job blocking for the run game as well, as Brian had more attempts rushing the ball then yards he gained.
On defense..well, we were trying to stop the run, figuring that that is what they would be doing with their new acquisition of Ahman Green. I fealt we did a good job in doing that, as Ahman seemed to be a nonfactor all day. However, there offense picked apart our secondary, one pass by one pass. Peyton did a great job out there, and the receivers did an even better job of making some pretty amazing catches to get the big plays when needed. So kudos to that whole offense over there in Indy, they were simply just better then us in the gameplan today.
Another thing that I noticed was the inability to create turnovers on our defensive side of the ball. We should have had atleast 4 interceptions today, but the ball just dropped right out of the corners/linebackers hands. It's really frusturating, knowing that you should have the ball, but you don't because your defense lacks the ability to catch a football.
On special teams, David Akers didn't even get to attempt a field goal all game long, but Steve Cheek got to punt the ball 9 times. I fealt he did a good job averaging nearly 44 yards per attempt. On the kick/punt returns, Ryan Moats didn't have a good day returning the kicks, and Brian only got to call fair catch every time he tried to return a punt.
Finally, we sustained 2 injuries today, none of which seemed to be too serious. Dallas Clark and Charles Tillman were both injured very early in the game, and both were unable to continue to play in the game but are not expected to miss any more time.
At this time, I'd be willing to take any questions that you, the media, has..
Brian's ineffectiveness running the ball has been a problem, even back into last year. Can it totally be blamed on the offensive line? At what point does Brian need to take responsibility?
On paper, your secondary looks very talented, yet Peyton picked you apart for 350+ yards. What caused your problems in the secondary this week and is there a quick fix for it?

Well, we knew about Brian's struggling abilities to run the ball coming into the offseason when we were even thinking about taking a chance on him. We figured he could turn it around, back here in Philly. We still think he can turn it around, but yesterday I blame his ineffectiveness totally on the offensive line.

I'm not totally sure. Maybe some bad gameplanning, maybe they just needed a game to get back into things..who knows though. Remember last year this defense gave up 45 points on opening day to CHICAGO..then ended up finishing with the best defense, numbers wise..in the league.
With yoru week 1 debacle what positive have come out of it? has your team learned anything about itself?
What changes do you plan on making to your secondary or are you going to take it as a bad week and let them play through it?
I'm sure the team won't be as "cocky", I guess I could say, about itself. They now know that there is atleast 1 better football team out there, and they are going to have to start working harder to prepare for the other ones.
As far as the changes go, there will be none. This is a very solid secondary that just had a bad weak in my eyes. We'll get back into the swing of things against Washington next week.
