Coach Trgovac steps up to the podium

Well, I think our team learned a big lesson today... You cannot get behind in games against good teams and expect to win... We only managed to put up 5 points in the first half and that will not cut it.. However, our second half in which we outscored the Falcons 29-17 was very promising. We're a young team and this is a good learning game. We let the big plays get us and we got behind and that cost us. Vick threw for almost 400 yards... and the problem with that is that it was to 2 receivers all game... We need to find a way to stop that. I thought we did a fair job against Duckett but we had way to many missed tackles; To many guys going for the big hit rather than wrapping up. We did do some good things on D however. Four different people had sacks, we forced 2 fumbles-one of which was returned for a TD, picked off a pass, and got a safety so it wasn't all bad. On offense we had a relatively good day running the ball and we may have given Tyrone a few to many carries. Next week look for Gore and Hollings to get some more. We had a few problems with dropped passes and aren't quite sure what to do about it but we have a week to iron things out...

Do you feel that you will have to make personnel moves to improve your coverage defense?

Your offense never gave up and could have possibly gave you the win, but your defense just didnt show up. Do you think the offense was a fluke or the defense? Do you think your offense can continue to play this good and your defense that badly? If so you could be the highest scoring team with a losing record if your D dont figure out how to stop the opponents. Your D was on the field a lot, do you think that wore them down and contributed to the massive amounts of yards put up against them?

Did you see enough this game to give you and your team belief of a possible title challenge?

No, I think we may change schemes though.

I watched some Saints games last year, and the running game was non-existant... If we can continue to get production from our run game then I believe our offense can continue to put up a good amount of points. However, you must remember that our defense, although quite porous, scored some points themselves. They returned a fumble for a TD and had a safety. When our defense applied pressure, we did well. However, when we back into coverage, Vick and Co. tore us apart. I, as well as my coaching staff believe that the amount of yards piled up was a fluke and that it is something that we can fix...

Our offense is only as good as our run game. If we continue to run well, we will do well. Our defense obviously did not play to its potential, I believe that the amount of yards and points we gave up will not be seen on this scale again... Mark it down.

Lets not get to far ahead of oursleves

... Anytime your defense is on the field more than your offense, its a problem and that probably hurt... However, our 2nd half D was better than the first halves so I'm not sure if that is totally to blame... Tonight Atlanta was the better overall team and they beat us. I believe our D will recover and will win us games... We've only played one game so far... Its a little early to be talking about our defense losing us the season... Or our offense being a record breaking one.

I saw flashes. Our team has the potential. Its got the talent. We will not win a title or even make the playoffs if our defense gives up 37 points a game... However, as I previously said, I think that can be fixed and ultimately give us a chance to eventually contend for the title. First, though, we want to make the playoffs.

despite poor QB play, a mediocre running game, you have to be a bit pleased that you still managed to keep the game so close.

What do you expect to change for Brooks on offense to get him in more of a rythem like his cousin Vick?
