Disturbed will be taking questions after a few comments.
After the draft we felt like we were in a pretty good standing. We knew we had two major holes we wanted to fill in free agency this year. Those 2 being running back and kicker.
Last years kicker Matt Stover was traded away as he quickly fell out of favor with Team Management. With the team realizing that Adam Vinatieri would be on the market the groundwork was quickly put in place to allow us to acquire him.
We feel that Vinatieri will be a great weapon for us unlike Stover who we worried about anytime he went out for a attempt over 45 yards. His leg just isn't that strong anymore. Adam completely changes that mind set. We are very confident that we can send him out there in almost any situation and knock them through for us.
The other major signing for us was running back Fred Taylor. We went into the offseason knowing we were going to lose Jamal. This was an area of mixed emotions for Raven's management. Some of us expected more than "just" 4 yards a carry from Jamal while others felt that was acceptable. I personally wasn't comfortable with that situation and really I was disappointed in his performance last season. It is nothing personal against Jamal but I really do feel the Ravens are a better team without him than we were with him.
We like what Taylor brings to the table and feel that in our system he will greatly improve over the last season with the Eagles. Also we will look to balance our offense and not look to be so run dominant as we were last season. Look for Taylor to have a great season behind what we feel is a very powerful offensive line.
You have 3 QBs on your roster and they all have 6 years remaining on their contracts. Trading or releasing Bledsoe would result in a huge cap penalty. Do you plan on starting Bledsoe or is Matt Leinart expected to get the job?
My other question is in regards to back-up FS Marcus Coleman. Coleman is a veteran and I was wondering if he is happy with his back-up role? Can we expect to see him traded and could he get a chance to see more playing time at CB?
No doubt that Adam Vinatieri is one of the best, if not THE best, kicker in the league. But do you truly believe he's worth a 42 Million dollar contract, which is far beyond what any other kicker has ever received before?

Bledsoe will be the starter this season unless we fall out of the playoff race or he gets injured. Beyond this season isn't something we are concerned with at this point.
We believe that Matt will eventually be a good quarterback in this league but for now he will have to deal with sitting behind Bledsoe.
Now with all that being said if team management decides that its in the best interest of the Ravens to have Leinart start now, he will be.

Actually with signing of Coleman we have decided to shift Ken Lucas to SS and start Marcus. Demps will move to backup both and if he is unhappy with this role we will find him a new home next season.

We think he is worth that and even more.

For Madden people the best way to explain it is that he has a very low awareness.

I have the confidence that we will be able to compete with the other teams in our division. Our main concern will be with our young corners and how they play. If they play well I definately see us competing for the divisional crown this season.
Which side of your team do you believe will step up more this year, your offense or your defense?

I think we had a fairly successful season on offense last season. Looking at what I consider the most important stat, points per game, you will see we were tied for 9th.
On defense we were 12th in scoring defense which I feel isn't bad but needs to improve for the Ravens to make the playoffs.
Now with saying that I believe the defense will step up and improve over what it was last season. With quite possibly the best set of linebackers the league has ever seen we are hoping they can lead our team to many victories.
Offensively I think you will see similar results from our team this season. We won't be as run heavy as we have been in the past since I feel we have a very good set of wide receivers that we need to get the ball to more.
This team will live or die by what the defense does. The offense just needs to support it.
how many games do you think you will need to win to take the division?

What are your expectations of Troy Williamson, and what will be his role in your offense?
I say 7 or 8 games because I think it we would be lucky to win that many games. My hope is that the division is weak enough to allow us to only win that many games and still win the division.
I don't expect much of Williamson at all. Chances are he just won't get that many opportunities to make as many plays as other receivers because of two things. First would be our offensive philosophy which is to run the ball and try to control the game. Second he will be sharing time with Carlos Francis and Fred Gibson as we want all 3 of them to get playing time so he just won't be on the field enough to make a huge impact.
