Hello, let me introduce myself. I am GM Spillman and I am the new GM/Owner of the Arizona Cardinals. For starters, I thought I'd let everyone in on the method to my madness. What I have been taking part in the past couple days is what I call, "Cardinal Cleansing." What is "Cardinal Cleansing" you say? It is getting rid of everything that has stood for below par performance in Arizona. The past owner left this team in shambles, and I'm not pleased. Ex. Trading away Marcell Shipp and Anquan Boldin.
I have traded the QB and offensive leader, Josh McCown because he and I don't get along for lack of better words. Kyle Orton will be our starter once the trade goes through. As for the other players on the team. All free agents will not be re-signed. If the previous owners thought they were good players, I don't. That simple. I eventually plan on having players that I have handpicked in my starting line up. I understand that the NFC West is a tough division, but I won't accept anymore pisspore performances. Every game will be fought to the end, and Arizona will be successful. I want immediate results. I dont want to bank on the future. The only exception is at the RB position. The orginization has 2 RB's that we have our eye on and will wait for scouting combine before we make any decisions.
As for positions we need to address, a strong, young o-linemen and cornerback will either be picked up in the draft as well or hopefully through trades.
I know this is a lot of information and my radical approach to this might take some people aback. I am more than happy to answer any questions...
Do you feel this is amjor rebuilding phase...Or are you contenders this year?
I would like to say we are contenders, because we have a lot of talent. With our given division, it will be hard. I can guarantee you, this team will be raising heads.

I think my chances are just as good. McCown may have had stats that people like to look at, but he's not the QB I wanted or feel this team needed. Orton will bring us some poise in the big games than McCown will. Besides he will be starting with a new RB. It's just new beginnings. And as far as back ups, I plan picking up David Garrard from the Jacksonville Jaguars. He's not not too old but he has experience. IF the oppurtunity presents itself, I will draft a QB, but RB, O-Linemen, and CB are our first priorities.

Reason: Automerged Doublepost
With the second overall draft pick, the Cardinals selected a Halfback, that of Dontrell Moore, do you believe he will be good enough to contend for rookie of the year, or even more, be a key player on your team?

For Madden people the best way to explain it is that he has a very low awareness.

I do believe he can be a key player on my team that is why I drafted him. Rookie of the Year? I'm not sure. We'll let camp happen before we make lofty predictions.
With big needs on Defensive line, and needs for upgrading your receivers and cornerbacks, why did you spend all that money on Henry when you have a great rookie back coming in? RB is one of the easier positions for a rookie to be successful at, so why not focus some of your cap for other spots that the Cards could use to be more successful?
That's a good question. The answer is simple, the future is great, but when a free agent like Henry is out there who can immediately impact our team, you can't pass him up. As for CB's and D-Line, the talent was addressed but the cap hit in which signing one of the players like Rolle, outweighed their talent in our eyes.
here is where I'm concerned about your decesion, drafting Moore with pick #2, and then signing Henry to the same amount of years, how much of instant impact are you looking for?

It would seem kind of careless drafting a RB with your first pick and then signing a RB in Free Agency. But I feel it won't be. I look to utilize both backs in different formations, and though I'll take a cap hit, I will take offer on either of the backs if the trade is going to improve our O-line or D-line.
