Bills start of year three press conference!

Mr.Billster, Jeff Fischer and Greg Knapp are entering the press conference room and take their seats.

Mr.Billster:” Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen. We thought it is time now for a press conference to introduce our new members of our coaching staff. Next to me are our new HC Jeff Fisher who had won the Superbowl with the Titans and our new offensive coordinator Greg Knapp. We are very happy and proud to have signed them to long term contracts for our franchise. Both are coaches with great knowledge and will take our team to a new and more successful level, I am very sure about that”.
Sports Weekly:” Mr.Billster, why were you so unhappy with former HC Mike Mularkey, did you blame him for not be able to form a great team?”

Mr.Billster: “Well, first of all I don’t blame him for anything. I still believe he is a great coach, but after two seasons of losing I had the feeling that we need a fresh start at HC. It seems to be so that he and the team never found together, they were unable to understand what the other side demanded from them. Mularkey and the team had difficulties to appear and perform as a unit for the Bills. Surely this wasn’t only Mularkeys fault, some players underachieved and made his job even more difficult. So, I think I had to do something; I had to make this team start performing. And who else can make them performing if not a HC who just has won the Superbowl?? Now the team has no more alibis, if they fail it is their fault and not the mistake of the coaches. I really think that Jeff (Fisher) and the team fit nice together. He is a great coach and will make things run properly from now on. He will carry the team to the maximum of their potential. But back to Mularkey, iam sure he will make his way. I wish him the best and hope that he will be able to have the success he is looking for”.

Local reporter: “ Mr.Fisher, what are your first impressions of Buffalo and the Bills...?”

Fisher: “Yeah, I know that the winters can be very cold over here... So can the summers… (some local reports laugh) But it is important that I feel that iam welcome here, and exactly that is what iam feeling right now. Buffalo is nice small city and not one of those mega-cities with its horrible hectic. Iam sure I will get adapted very quickly to the city and of course also the team. The Bills had two weak years now in a row but when I look at the roster I can see lot of quality which just needs to be utilized properly. If you can push every player to a point where they are playing up to their potential for a season I cant see a reason why the Bills shouldn’t be successful. And it is my job now to make this team work and perform”.

Sports Illustrated: “Mr.Knapp, what do you think of the quality of the offense. Is the offensive side of the ball good enough to compete for the playoffs?”

Knapp: “Of course the offense is good enough. They have a nice young QB who played so much better last season compared to his rookie campaign despite being injured for almost 10 game weeks and not beeing healthy. It will be very important to keep Travis Henry with the Bills, he is a power-runner who can make the difference. We need him. What else can I say at this point… The receiving corps is great. We have WRs, TEs and FBs who can catch the ball are all over the roster. It will be huge fun to work with this offense, no doubt. This team can regularly score by running and passing as well. Iam very exited to see the first training sessions and get my personal impressions about my new guys”.

Local reporter: “Mr.Billster, who are your favourite players in this team?”

Mr:Billster: “Hmm, I like all my players. If not, they wouldn’t be with my team. But… keep your eyes open and watch Spencer Toone and Maurice Clarrett this season….”

Mr.Billster signals that the media can ask questions now…

Mr. Billster, with your new Head Coach Jeff Fisher do you believe that the bills have a playoff chance this year?

What about Danny Wimprine, what is the future of this young quaterback?

Mr.Billster: "Yes, of course we beleive that we have a playoff chance. The team had enough time to get experience, the thing that they lacked most. But now it is time to take the next step, the playoffs. We think our team has the quality to reach them, but time will show... And i think for the second questions we should let the HC or OC speak".

Greg Knapp is looking at Fisher who doesnt seems to give an answer, then he speaks: "I think it is a little bit early at this point to say what will happen with some players, for example Danny Wimprine. The only sure thing is, he will stay with the team for this season. We will watch him carefully over the next weeks at training. He will have his opportunities to show his talent, but most likely will be not the starter for our time. Still you cant say wht the future hold for the team, look at last season when Danny (Wimprine) had to make several starts at QB after the unexpected heavy injury of Losman".

Mr. Billster! Mr. Billster!! Over here!!!

You advised us to keep an eye on Maurice Clarett...does this mean he will steal some carries this year from Travis Henry? Can you give us an estimation of how many carries per game Clarett will get?

can you give us any idea of what position you will be looking at drafting with the number 1 draft pick?

Mr.Billter:"At the moment we are working on 2 seperate deals and it looks like the Bills having no 1 rounder in this years draft. We would have taken the best defense player available with the first pick, but as i said, right now we have no picks at all in round 1.
And FA will not be a great issue for the Bills, getting back RB Henry and Kicker Elling will be the only to moves worth to mention".

Is Henry going to be tagged for sure, or let into FA? In this reporters opinion FA is always a bad idea...*Cough* Kendrell Bell *Cough*?

With so many big name free agents - such as Travis Henry, Nate Clements, Pat Williams, and your kicker Aaron Elling - how do you plan on resigning all of them?

To the reporter that just asked that question, I believe that question was already answered earlier

Ah, thank you very much.

So if Nate Clements isn't worth going after, what do you plan on doing at the CB position? Are you going to go with the rather inexperienced CBs you have now, or are you going to pick someone up via free agency or the draft?

Mr.Billster" Well, sometimes even reporters can be lacking informations. I think the Bills made it clear that they us the TAG on CB Clements, so he isnt a FA for next season".
(In the TAG thread before the draft)

And if you have to chose between tagging a superb CB and a superb RB we decided to use it on the Corner, cause if you have aleady a talented guy like Clarrett as an insurance the loss of Henry wouldnt hurt that much. Loosing Clements would be a huge blow for this team. And we think that the last FA period really showed, that keeping own free agents in a really big possibility. And even for the unlikely case that we cant keep Henry, i think it is a part of the game that players come and go. So, i really dont see this so dramatic. We are the one of few teams which isnt losing too many important players to FA. CB Clements will stay with the tag, and we will have plenty of cap room and the new cap rule for own FAs to go after Henry and Elling. So, it is only these two players we have to go after. Iam not saying that it will be easy to keep them, but i see the chances at 80% to see both of them back in the Bills uniform for many years. The chances on Henry are even bigger. The Bills franchise is not accepting the trades as the only option to keep you losing star players nor nothing in FA. If we want to built a great franchise, this FA period is giving us a great opportunity to sign a stud RB and a stud kicker for long-term contracts. We see this as a big challenge and after the experience of last season we see our chances very, very high. If you want to look and evalute a certain situation , you have to see both sides. Good and bad. Thanks".

Sorry, this has to be in the TAG thread before the break.
