12 Years? If that happens they'll be so dead in the water it's not funny. Microsoft will be releasing another system in the next two or three that will blow away anything currently out there. You just can't expect the hardware to last that long.

I mean that's double what the normal life span of a system is.

If the prices of GlueRay player dont come down soon I will own a PS3 other than that I like my Xbox wich doesnt get very much use.... It is a kool DVD player...

I own a PS3, and we all know I'm a borderline fanboy. I will say straight up that I will NOT own this or any PS3 for a duration of 12 years.

So....I'll get a 360 this Christmas...and keep it for 3 years?

You can keep it for however long you want to.. but you can expect a new console by Microsoft somewhere around there..

You keep it as long as it lasts...I still have my SNES and N64. It's just a matter of when they stop making games for it.

Older consoles were different though, especially if you're a Sony person. I don't need my psx, psOne, ps2, or ps2 slim anymore, because my PS3 has encompassed all of them.

I'd rather not pay more for games that are outdated. You know how much that backwards compatible chip is costing you? Damn...

I went with PS3 because I have never played an Xbox360

Yeah those 30 FPS on the PS3 last year for Madden were excellent..

The only reason the PS3 will hang now is because of blu-ray which if MS was smart they would just release a blu-ray player for the box.

The PS3 is massively harder to develope games for.. all the developers hate it.

ya my x-box 360 died last wednesday on me but i rather have an x-box 360 then a ps3 anyday of the week

Why not just call MS and have it repared?

no i sent it in and there working on it now...But I was surprise that I was able to have it for a year and a half with no problems...has anyone had one go that long

i perfer the 360 for only because it was cheaper but i would get a ps3 only for metal gear solid 4.
