If the PS3 was worth the price I would own one... I've owned every other console and always play on the best one out..
I just don't see the PS3 as the best one out right now... If Sony releases something next time around that blows away MicroSoft I will switch to Sony.. in the meantime I will stick with the best console out.
Oh.. and by the way 'best console' is obviously objective.. it does not mean 'which console has the most gadgets hooked up to it' as Bluff tried to make it mean.
Best means best.. it means when you consider all things it is better than the other one. That includes.. price, games, usable technology, looks, controllers.
It includes all of it.
For some people the PS3 is better because they can tell the difference between hdmi 1.3 on their tv and component. For MOST people they can't
Some people the PS3 is better because RFOM has 20 gigs on its disc.. for others Halo is the greatest game ever made.. and the ability to play it is better than a built in blu-ray.
For some people waiting for the PS3 to come out made sense.. to others they would rather have the next gen system a year earlier...
In the end the consoles are about the same as far as performance is concerned and they are both WEAK compared to the top of the line computer systems out now.. It is not like the difference between the xbox and ps2 in which the xbox was clearly a superior system as far as graphics and power are concerned.
But the thing is that by this time next year these consoles will both be obsolete computer technology and we will wait another 2-3 years for the current technology to come out and completely destroy what we have now (ps3 and 360)
All I know is there is NOTHING on a PS3 that makes me think 'oh yeah I need that... that's worth $600' so therefore I don't own one and probably never will.

I don't feel it was a good idea to not compete with Xbox releases as consoles go. That's going to hurt them later, because it's always going to seem that Xbox has the leg up on technology for the buck.

Like I said earlier, factor in all the upgrade for the 360 in the future and it comes out to the same price. I just decided to purchase the PS3 now and invest the money without having to upgrade later.

Ok, I informed you about a game. I can guarantee you it isnt the only PS3 or 360 game over 4.9 gigs, that was my point. Where did I ever say the game was so great? I just know for a fact it is over 20 gigs, I never said the game was great or anything about it besides its size. If being a PS fanboy means that I invested my $460 dollars into the PS3 because I didnt want to have to pay to upgrade, then I am guilty as charged. I have no problem with the 360 and I agree that it is the better system right now. However, I am not convinced the 360 is the better console in a year or more, but thats my opinion so...

I'd also like to note that while it took several months for the PS3 to get a firmware update to have games upscale to 1080p. The 360 automatically upscales all games to 1080p, and has for quite some time.
HDMI isn't really a big deal, nor a big difference - component cables preform just as well.
I'd also like to mention Nish, that while there are upgrades to the 360, like the new Elite, there are going to be upgrades to the PS3, with plans for an 80 gig hard drive and some other features. It's ironic because Sony said they would never release a new model of the PS3, and mocked Microsoft for having to do so.
Ultimately, hardware and power don't mean much, it's always been about the games. Why yes, the PS3 is more powerful, the 360 won't ever be far behind the PS3, because the unified shaders as I mentioned before, give the 360 a huge advantage in that department. It's one of the reason games are so big for the PS3, Resistance could easily fit in dual layer DVD, because again, it uses unified shaders - not two dozen pipelines.
Now, and in the future, the 360 is going to have better games, and continue to have better developers working for them. It's why Sony is doing pretty bad right now, because they've neglected the gamers. I mean, it's taken what, six months for them to finally allow you to upscale their games to 1080p? That's insane.
I look for the 360 and Wii to lead the sales by a large margin this generation.

That is true, but I feel these NG consoles will last around the life span of the PS2. I think we have another 4 years before another console war is unleashed. Make no mistake Microsoft is doing great with the 360, they are selling great, have the best price, and are a good value. Why would Microsoft release a new system that soon when they can still make a ton of money off the 360? You know there is no way Sony puts out a system before Microsoft, so Microsoft is in a great position to eat up a large portion of the console sales for the next 3-4 years and then they release the first next next gen console in 2011.

I guess I'm just an elitist, er bad word choice considering the topic, anyways, I am one of the few people that CAN tell a difference, and that matters bigtime to me. I've got full 1080p on my tv, not to mention a fantastic surround setup, and no it is not a premade HTIB setup. I'm the kind of dude that won't drink Starbucks, got standards you know? I think the 360s are great though, I'm actually starting production on game capture series (think red vs blue) utlizing Rainbow Six: Vegas on a mulitude of 360s.

I was just talking about seperate add ons that the 360 is like to add in the future.
Im not sure why Sony is releasing an 80 gig console, it really makes no sense, considering you can swap out your HD for a larger one.
The 360 releasing a new version is great, but all it does is upgrade the HD to 120 gigs, add in HDMI, and changes the console to black. My point is that they should have just allowed the 360's HD to be swapped from release and added HDMI and there is no need for the elite. I dont agree with any company releasing a version of a console only to add a few more features and re-release it in the future, like Sony and Microsoft are doing. If you plan on doing that just make the console upgradeable from release.

Suffice it to say, I had to make settings in my receiver to compress certain sublevels before and after 10am/pm, why can't neighbors just appreciate it instead of complaining. I know they aren't actually trying to sleep, they're probably just taking their jealousy out in a passive aggresive way.

Ps3 graphics are far better than 360, not only my opinions but proof all over the web. Am set up with a 70" sony grand wega, hdmi, and yamaha surrond sound. The 360 is not even close.

Per ZDNET, it would take 5 360's to equal the computing power of the cell. Remember when the PS2 came out and everyone thought it was great but there were no games to speak of? Take Onimusha 1 and put is side by side with the latest Onimusha, worlds of difference-same system. Give it about a year to a year and a half and what you will see on the PS3 will be mind blowing.
Price Huh? 60Gig PS3 $499 XBOX 360 Elite $479 + HD-DVD $174.99. OK that makes the 360 $150 more than a PS3. But wait, "But the 360 has a 120Gig HDD" Western Digital 160Gig HDD $94.99 and sony has detailed instructions on their website on how to swap them...........Still $56 more for the 360 with half the capabilites.
Can, and I have, put and use Linux on the PS3......doesn't crash, no virues, basically not window and that is always a better way.

And yes I build and fix computers so I hate Microsoft and Bill Gates, I will not try to hide that. Anything made by Microsoft will crash eventually and it has happened to mine. My son love his 360 and i bought it so he could kick my *** in halo(which is an amazing game).
Blu-Ray vs. HD-DVD........its not done yet but when the studio ratio is 5 to 1 in favor of Blu-Ray I think its a no brainer. BTW a Blu-Ray disc will have the ability to hold almost 50G of data. HD-DVD is no where close.
In short, Am I a Sony loyalist? Without question! Will there be millions of 360's sold to people who are very happy with them? A very big yes. Will I be a retard and stand in line and pay way too much for the next ones when the come out? Hell I will buy both again and again and again, I just hope at some point they let me bring my tv to the nursing home when the ps8 and Xbox 9 are out. Do i enjoy playing on both systems? Yes, although i much prefer the ps3 controller. So I am not saying anyone is wrong for buying a 360 or someone is right for buying a ps3 I just think when you break it down the PS3 is the better system.

Sony's Cell processor technology is before its time.. while a good idea it wont be taken advantage of through software until the next consoles are released which makes it a waste..
Blu Ray is BUILT INTO a PS#.. If BLU ray wins then there will be BLU-RAY players for the 360.. (Duh).. not that it matters because this a gaming machine we are talking about here.. not a dvd player...
As for the Free online play... Who cares?

XBOX 360 is by far the best console in my opinion just off the strength of XBOX Live Features. It has way more to offer than Playstation's online thingy. 360 is definetly the peoples' choice and Champ right now and if you think other wise than you are in denial. There's a reason why PS online is free, look at you get. NOTHING!!! 360 is killing them right now. But it doesn't PS3 won't come back, it just mean they're running out of time. The only problem I have with 360 is that I think their console's are way too fragile. I know more people that have had problems with their 360 than you can imagine. What's up with that?
My friend has a PS3 that i play once in a while! havn't played a sport game yet on it. But i love the system! it's sweet!
i also played the 360..madden..it was just another system! nothing special. i like the original better. lol...sad huh?
I'll just get the next 'next gen' when it comes out... More potential there.
