The Seattle Seahawks, A re-building

*Coach and GM of the Seattle Seahawks, Mr. fenwick, Steps up to the podium.*

ah-hem, Ok, some of you may look at the moves i have made and think that i am crazy, i had quite possibly one of the best o-lines in the league, one of the best running backs, two of the up and coming recievers, and a decent defense. But i could not keep that team, almost the entire offensive line was in the last year of their contract, along with shaun alexander, matt hasselback, and a couple of the defensive players. So I figured instead of letting them go into FA where the vultures live , and being up (expletive) creek w/o a paddle, i decided to trade them.
The O-line was an easy call, I recieved some great potential and some veteren leadership in return. By bringing in rookies "Down and Dirty" Jake Grove at Center and 2003 Outland trophy winner Robert Gallery at Letf Tackle. But potential has to be harnassed and to do that you need a veteren leader which is why i decided to bring in Jon Runyan at Right Tackle. What Jon has brought to the offensive line is that temperament of his. He is going to maul you and beat you up and feel pretty good about doing it. That's been contagious all the way across the line. (thank you andy reid)

Let's move to the recievers, I had 2 standout's in koren Robinson and darrel Jackson, but i needed more, they were all i had. Koren unfortunately is no longer w/ us and we wish him the best of luck w/ the Raiders. As a team though we will not suffer, I was able to bring in some stand out players. Those of which include Jerry Rice who is the greatest at his position ever. David Boston who is an absolute monster. And Ohio State sensation Michael jenkins, kid has amazing hands.

Now Unfortunately i had to make a decision, only being able to keep one franchise player i was forced to decide between Shaun and Matt, and Shaun had to go. Which means matt Hasselback is my Franchise player. and my starting QB, ya'll know how he takes care of buisness, no need to talk about him.

What we do need to talk about is my sudden lack of a star tailback, one of the most important positions to an offense.Well we have a few actually, Maurice Morris is gonna turn into a nice speed back, and the man i brought in, rookie Greg Jones outta Florida State, Could be the next big thing. And for those who are skeptical http://www.mhmuscle.com/gregjones.html read that.

Now onto the defense.

Our defense was a little timid, so we brought in bobby taylor and grant wistrom. Unfortunately Bobby just didn't gel here and was sent back to Philly. and w/ the revamping of the offense we brought in a few new guys. One being wistroms new Bash Brother Warren Sapp. I feel sorry for any QB we face who has sub par Tackles. Our Linebackers changed inly slightly. we now feature Brown, young sensation Simmons and a Veteren from the Detroit Lions Earl Holmes. Our secondary is fine, some thought it as a work in progress but Ken "the hammer" Hamlin will be one of the best Safeties in the league w/ in 3 years, you can quote me on that. We also added seasoned veteren and hard hitting Sammy knight. What we did lack in speed we made up for by Bringing in Lito Sheppard, Ahmad Carrol and Denard Walker at corner.

The floor will now be open for questions.

Coach, not trying to resign RB Alexander next season via FA market and trading him was a very risky move. You got a talented but very, very young RB corps now but they need 2-3 years to develop into premium RBs (and maybe will never premium RBs). In my opinion RB is the most important position in this game…
All other moves and trades are nice and good work, but the RB situation will cause some headaches in the next 2 years, I fear…

If any of my backs do not pan out i do not have a first round pick this year, but i do have four 2nd round picks this year, and sor far, 2 first round picks next year. I am not to worried about that situation though as i have full confidence in Greg.

yes. coach, every time someone nears the end of their contract in the upcoming seasons, are you just going to go on a trade fest?

No not at all, it was not just that they were at the end of their contracts, some of the guy's were nearing the end of their career's and it was in our opinion that it was better to trade this year then to lose half of our team to free agency and retirement. Shaun was an Icon here, and we really didn't want him to go, but we knew that we would not be able to pay him what he would get in FA.

yes that is unquestionable that his price would have been high, but that type of thing can happen anytime someone nears the end of their contract, you know you may have to lose them. what are you going to do to breach these barriers?

much although FA is applicable to all teams, you seemed to have used that reason to trade frantically, not that i disapprove, but i am just questioning, will that stance be adopted again?

Lets not turn "questions" into attacks upon how owners run thier teams...

The trading wasn't frantic, all i did was bring in youth and leadership. All of my trades have turned out beautifully, Frantic trading wouldn't have brought me the likes of a Jerry Rice, Warren Sapp, Sammy KNight, David Boston, I needed speed and leadership, and i went out and got both. we lacked alot of Depth and go to guys, and it took a few trades to go out and get it. I just had approx. 9-11 starters that were in the last year of their contract and knew that there was absolutely no way i could resign them all.

and also we lacked a big play defense which i feel we now have.

A lot of people felt that this team was one or two player additions away from becoming a team that could win the superbowl... Do you now feel any added pressure from the fans and critics who my question your moves this offseason?

Any team is just one or two additions away from being a superbowl contender, and i believe we made those additions, we strengthend the Defense, and added threats to the offense. As soon as we gel, we should start rolling.

Pesonally I think 1 or 2 players away still applies to the Seahawks.

What strategies are you going to implement to stop the run. You have probably the weakest DTs in the league. If you over commit to the Run then what happens when people throw all over your weak corners? This D lacks a true shut-down corner. I think that teams will be able to run all over and even run up the gut on this team (the achillies heel of the Bucs last year). The only bring spot I can see if the LB corps.

Seems like another MArtz approach of outscoring your teammates. What do you think?
