It's funny how far games have come. Side scrollers and mindless shooters use to be a blast, now it seems like while that can still be fun from time to time, a game has to have a great story. On that note, which game do you guys feel has one of the best stories?
Personally, I go with Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Not only did it have an awesome story, but you have a chance to make every single dialogue response by your character - meaning you get to have your own impact on the story. Plus the plot twists and character interaction was and still is unprecedented.
After that, Final Fantasy VII has to come in as a close second. A story of how an evil corporation was sucking the life blood out of the planet, and a former soldier of that company (Cloud Strife) joined up with a resistance to stop it. The characters were all awesome, and so was the story.
Yeah, Halo had a very entertaining storyline. Sometimes the sci-fi element can be a turn off, but they did a really good job with the characters. I mean, Master Chief has to be one of the coolest characters of all time - despite not saying much in the game.
Ah yeah, Half-Life 2 had an amazing story. Gordon Freeman is such a great character, despite not talking in the game at all. The new episodes they release for it also continue the story really well, too.
