I will sing from the tops of mountains, to the praises of this move.

GREEN BAY -- The Green Bay Packers ran out of patience with
nickel cornerback Ahmad Carroll.
Less than 24 hours after his up-and-down performance in Monday
night's 31-9 loss to Philadelphia, the Packers placed Carroll on
waivers Tuesday. A 2004 first-round draft pick by Green Bay,
Carroll never realized his potential, and the Packers had seen
enough.
"We wish Ahmad luck," coach Mike McCarthy said. "On a
personal level, it may be in his best interest for him to move on
to another NFL venue."
In the first half Monday night, Carroll broke up three passes
and registered his third career sack on Eagles quarterback Donovan
McNabb. But in the second half, wide receiver Greg Lewis burned him
deep for a 45-yard touchdown that gave the Eagles a 17-9 lead in
the third quarter.
On the next series, Carroll was flagged for a 14-yard pass
interference penalty. On the ensuing play, Lewis was left wide open
for a 30-yard touchdown and a 24-9 Eagles lead.
In the fourth quarter, Reggie Brown beat Carroll deep for a
23-yard gain on a play that also saw Carroll get flagged for
holding. That play led to the Eagles' final TD of the night, a
15-yard McNabb run.
"I know what I'm accountable for and I know what I did wrong,"
Carroll said. "I gave up the big plays. You look at the film, it's
not one person did this, one person did that. I'm that person. I
gave up the explosive gains, I gave up the big plays, I gave up the
touchdown."
McCarthy said rookie Jarrett Bush and practice-squad cornerback
Patrick Dendy will compete for Carroll's job. Rookie fourth-round
pick Will Blackmon, who missed all of training camp recovering from
a broken foot, figures to join the competition once he's healthy.
Seriously, I've been calling for Carroll's head on a platter since his first game as a starter. Let's look at some of his accomplishments of this 3rd year player:
34 Games played with the Green Bay Packers by cornerback Ahmad Carroll
28 Games in which Carroll started
33 Total penalty flags thrown against Carroll
26 Penalties called for coverage violations such as pass interference, illegal contact and holding
256 Penalty yards marched off as a result of his 24 infractions that weren't declined or offset by another penalty
11½ Touchdowns Carroll allowed in coverage
3 Interceptions
was arrested for beating up a bouncer in a Fayetteville, Arkansas bar in February 2006. Charges also included third-degree assault on a police officer, disorderly conduct and refusal to submit to arrest.
During a practice two-minute drill Carroll grabbed teammate Rod Gardner by the facemask and pulled him to the ground, where the two had to be separated by teammates. Carroll continued to kick after the two players were separated.
Carroll had previous problems with other players on the team, including a he's been involved in a locker room scuffle with former Packer Joey Thomas and a preseason fight with Javon Walker
Carroll's favorite move on the field is to bang his chest like Tarzan after making the most basic of plays like a tackle or pass deflection.
Yeah... that's my biggest fear. Now he has learned a lesson and will go to a team that will turn him into a Pro-Bowl player.
He does have good speed and agility, he just needs the discipline. He could be a good player if he had some humility and in the hands of the right coaching staff.
(shrugs) Oh well. Maybe they should move Collins to the Nickel for those formations and have Underwood at Safety.
He did get thrown into the mix quickly, but that is expected of a first round pick. When it comes down to it, he is really just didn't have the maturity level to fill the role.
Did anyone see the footage of him fighting with Gardner? From what I understand, Gardner said something to him, but then Carroll just started hitting him, grabbed his jersey, and kicked him in the stomach. It was just sad.
