Your Surprise Prediction

What do you predict this season that would be a big surprise? (In other words, predicting New England in the Super Bowl wouldn't be that surprising... predicting San Francisco over San Diego in the Super Bowl would...).

Here's mine: Philadelphia fails to make the play-offs. Why? Well, their defense is different than last year, and in my opinion, changed for the worse. The three-headed monster of Staley, Buckhalter and Westbrook at RB is down to one, Westbrook. Donavan McNabb has been overrated for a few years now and having a prime WR will only go to expose him. Everyone has been saying what a great QB he would be with decent WR, now that he has one, we'll see that was wrong. (Did Elway, Marino or Favre need Hall Of Fame WR to make them good?)

If I say that Washington is gonna suck is that surprising or not surprising haha

Miami makes the playoffs anyway.... lol... yeah right

I think the Redskins make a splash and go deep in the playoffs but the big surprise for me will be that the Lions break .500 and give the Vikings/Packers a small push. Or maybe the Panthers fail to make the playoffs.

Afraid Harty's surprise is too big of a humdinger to happen. I saw the Eagles' schedule, it was light on heavyweight encounters. Westbrook is still the very best RB the Eaglets have, and it may be that like Travis Henry he proves a small back who can still last a season. There are too many positives about this team, D-line depth is top notch, secondary is strong.
Not too much of a surprise, but the Saints are DEFINITELY making the playoffs. Nobody can miss so often with so much talent, it's their year. On that same note, the Redskins better be in there too. I believe the 49ers will surprise in not sucking as badly as others think.
The Browns will be 'surprisingly' poor, while the Jets seem set for the playoffs from where I sit. It'd be a real surprise to see Priest having a bad season, but I'm thinking it's a high possibility. Look out for particularly poor performances from Priest Holmes on weeks 13 and 16... :grin:

My predictions as the biggest surprises of the up and coming NFL season is this,
Clinton Portis barely breaks 1000 yrds: not as good as advertised.
The Chargers win 11 games: L.Tomblinson is the MVP of the NFL.
The Bengals win the Divison, make the AFC Championship game.
Payton Manning sets the record for interceptionss in a single season.

I know they are pretty far-fetched, but hey, who knows.

Hey, I dunno. It's definitely a possibility. I know I've spoken out on this board about how I think the Eagles are overrated, but I don't think I've said that I think TO is too. I've watched him before and it seems like he can't ever come up with that clutch catch. Last night he had one catch for 81 yards... but he dropped 3. Two of those were on 3rd and would've gotten the first. And then, what about that option route where he started to go inside then cut back outside, resulting in an interception by McNabb? I guess you can credit that to the fact that he's still learning the system, but why did he drop those 3 passes?

I just don't like the way that if he messes up it's because Jeff Garcia is gay or because the coaches don't know how to use him. Sure, he's good at YAC but you can't get the YA without the C. I think everyone needs to look in the mirror sometimes, and TO doesn't do that.

Oh he looks, he looks plenty, he just doesn't see. I understand what you're saying, but the eagles made the nfc champ game without TO last season and therefore he can only be an improvement.

For my surprise prediction I think that the Texans will win the AFC South over the Colts and Titans with David Carr having a breakout season.

Their secondary lost their two best corners
Troy Vincent and Bobby Taylor, I don't know if I would call that strong

Seahawk Superbowl baby, been a die hard hawks fan for so many years now, they're finally getting it together, I really wish they would of signed Trotter though
