Maybe its just me. Maybe I am old-fashioned. Maybe I think someone should play at least one game, one series, one DOWN before he starts talking smack. But I absolutely HATE this guy. The way he played in college, ("I'm a warrior! This is war!"... hey Kellen, carry your punk-*** to Iraq to see what a warrior is and what a war looks like), the way he held out when he was offered more money than the pick before him and more money than ANY TE in football, more than any TE in the HISTORY of football. The way he threw a cheap shot in a non-contact drill. The way he threw a punch in a pre-season game. I am so glad he plays for the Cleveland Browns. I pray that Joey Porter lays him the **** out this year. Breaks his ****ing jaw so he will have to shut the **** up. I pray to God he is exposed as a piece of crap on the field. There is no one in the NFL I hate more, which is saying a lot. Can I get an Amen? Or am I the only one who feels this way?
Afraid I can't provide my beloved Harty with an amen here. Firstly, as spectators, you and me only get one whole figure for the contract offer and we think, yea go get it. BUT, people get ****ed and ****ed hard in contract negotiations if clubs are given the chance. Prime example: Philip Rivers - they quoted his overall sallary number. But in order to trigger about $25 million of those bonuses he'd have had to win six superbowls and go to six pro-bowls. Thus if they offered Winslow 40m with half that coming from bonuses on stupid conditions (like get 10 sacks in a season), then why blame the guy?
I read about him asking to play DE, and I LIKE that! The Browns are a heap of **** at present, their depth chart has Warrick Holdman starting BOTH outside linebacker positions.. Winslow is good, he's very good, and it's good to have an emotional leader, rookie or not.
On the other hand, he does act childishly sometimes. That is where I agree with Harty entirely, nothing's worth getting in a fight with some guy over.. hit him with a hard block the next time he comes near. I love Julian Peterson, coz he's professional about it, none of that crazy Ray Lewis stuff - "when I hit a guy I wanna take his soul". So I prefer the Petersons and Ahman Greens of this world, but if a guy whose arrogant can play like there are two of him like Lewis, then I don't care I want em on my team too.
Philip Rivers - they quoted his overall sallary number. But in order to trigger about $25 million of those bonuses he'd have had to win six superbowls and go to six pro-bowls.
Yeah but that number would end up being $20 higher than what Eli got...
the contract being offered Rivers for about 5 million less than Mannings, but i he were to do those pro-bowls and super bowls he would get like $20 million more than Eli.. obviously thats not gonna happen but then again Rivers should not get more $$ than manning.
But like you said as spectators the average fan does not understand these things (I'm not the average fan)

Ok, good. In my opinion, you're an idiot. Good thing I can't be wrong!
Timothy 2:12
With Kellen Winslow Jr, you have a alot of talent, but a bigger ego. For me, to see someone play one pre-season game, and come out and question the Browns the way he has is just stupid. I don't see alot of team chemistry this year in Cleveland. He is a problem, and a distraction to almost any team he plays with. I would gladly take Todd Heap over Kellen Winslow anyday
Harty, I have never loved to see anything more on this board than I do now. On ESPN today he was already calling out his teammates. God damn, Cleveland should start the pre-emptive chemo therapy now because Kellen is going to be a locker room cancer!
Oh wait, I'm sorry, I got confused. Kellen is a soldier. I mean, of course, a soldier asks for more money than everyone else and puts himself in front of everyone else. Shoot, I got confused again. A soldier gets paid about $20,000 dollars a year to sit behind a freaking truck in Iraq fighting so Kellen Winslow can ***** about being a great player. But, Kellen Winslow is better than everyone else. He's a proven vet and is definitely going to be great this year. Oh yeah, KELLEN HASN'T EVEN PLAYED A REAL GAME. I honestly hope someone gets sick of his bull and just goes for his knees.

Oh come on now lads, I agree that he's behaved like a kid ocassionally, getting into fights and all that. But being confident and telling a 4-12 team to get its act together, we shouldn't knock that. Those poor bastards fighting in Iraq are only there for the money, so that means soldiers aint too different from Kellen.. just that I feel he does have a passion for this game, and a passion to achieve and be the best. Sure, he's cocky and runs his mouth, but at the Browns EVERYBODY has a right to run their mouth, they were horrid!
Those poor bastards fighting in Iraq are only there for the money, so that means soldiers aint too different from Kellen..
This is what I am going to do.. I am going to go away from my computer... I am going to think about this for a while... I am going to consider how much I have gotten along with you, how much I like you, and how much you have contributed to the board. Then I am going to consider the fact that you are not from the US and therefore are raised to think such things. I am going to consider that maybe you don't know that I am a former US Marine, that I have fought for my country, and that I deffinately DID NOT do it for the $950 a month I was being paid. And neither did most the Devil Dogs that I knew.
I am going to give you a little time to possibly do some research on why most men in the US join the military. I may even be gone long enough for Harty to send you a message or make a comment to you (possibly telling you how much money people in the military DON'T make).
Then I am going to expect an appology. A public one. And if I don't get one. Then I will give you what I feel I owe you for what you have contributed to the board, and then I am going to ask that you not come back.
Sorry, but there are just some things that get to me. And while people talking trash on Emmitt Gets me mad. People who say ignorant, degrading, disrespectful lies about the people who have given or are willing to give thier lives for MY country that just flat out pisses me off.

It was a bad anallogy to use and so as not to pollute to board with political thought, I won't go into my reasoning behind it, needless to say I retract my statement. I do so sincerely, because - thinking about it - its not valid or terribly respectful.
P.S. - an american soldier is not the same as a Kellen Winslow.
Wow Cashpath, you were in the Marines? Did you fight in the Gulf War? Or were you stationed in the Persian Gulf? I ask because one of my close friends I had since I was little died in combat over there, and I have all the respect in the world for our soilders who go over there and risk their lives just so we can sleep at night with a sense of security. My hat goes off to you Cashpath, you should be proud.
Just wanna throw out my 2 cents here. Thanks for the apology Vlad. I was about to implode when I saw what you had written. Thanks Cash for stepping in. Needless to say, when I list the reasons I joined the Navy, and the reasons I am still active duty, money doesn't crack the top 3, maybe the top 5. If they paid outlandish amounts, and gave a bounty for every enemy you killed, a lot of people would be over there fighting for freedom. But not to many are. I thank God every night for people like Cash, for people like the buddies I still have over there today... right now. For people like ChapelHills buddy who gave his life. I love football more than almost anything, but my love for my country is a deciding force in my life. Not the money.
