Ricky Williams' Sensational Retirement

Thats right folks, he's had enough, throwing in the dreads, throwing in the dreams. The Dolphins are officially (understatement of the year) in trouble.

I see many similarities between Ricky and Barry Sanders. Some people just could care less about fortune and fame. It is refreshing but the timing is terrible.
I would be livid if I were a Dolphins fan.

Loved the Lance Armstrong press conference. He may be the best athlete of the last 25 years. I know it is cycling, but I love cheering for that guy.

My Rangers are in 1st place still. I am hoping they make a move for a solid starting pitcher. I am starting to believe.

OU, Dallas Cowboys, and fantasy football is aroud the corner.

Life is muy bueno!

I see your point on Sanders, but for me its different. I love what Sanders did - 10 seasons of the baddest most consistent running back performances. He hit the 2000 yard season and retired on a 5.0 average, that makes him the best running back ever in my book - for being so good and retiring on time. Please no backlash from Emmitt-lovers, I said MY book.

Ricky, on the other hand, had half the career of Sanders and is amazingly self-involved. The least he could do is announce before the draft or even before Eddie bleedin George was signed. Now Even Antowain Smith is gone. Thats not bad timing, I'm almost sure its an intentional '****-you' to the Fins.

Un-freakin-believeable. He was my favorite RB that doesn't wear a Steeler uniform. He said he couldn't remember the last time he was happy, but he is ecstatic now. Ricky Williams is one weird sonofa*****. My thoughts and prayers go out to SlickRick. The dynamic duo of Jay Fiedler and Travis Minor ain't scaring nobody. David Boston just moved up on my fantasy draft board.

My comparison between Sanders and Ricky was purely based on their mental attitudes. Both players had become tired of the game in their primes. Ricky couldn't carry Barry's jock strap as far as talent goes.

Top 3 Rbs all time: 1. Payton (All heart and will) 2. Barry (All talent) 3. Emmitt (Longevity and Persistence) 4. Dickerson and Earl Campbell (Speed and Power)
I know I am leaving some big names off...but I never got to see players like Jim Brown, Gale Sayers, OJ, etc... You can make arguments for many guys. Those are just my personal choices.

<sniffs> Oh my f-ing god. I just saw this new thread, read the first post.... didn't believe vlad, thought it was a hoax. Went to ESPN.com to double check....... then i almost cried.

Personally I think what he's doing is bull****. He's a punk for doing this. He was signed till 2006 and Miami had to give alot to acquire him. For him to do this now is just sickening. At least he could of given us a week notice so we could of gotten George. I hope that Miami sues him for the remainder of his contract, like they have the right to do, for his bull**** retirement.

Cash... lol.... yep thats two more for the Bills, I think you may lose this bet.

replacements, (oh **** i forgot they spent their 2nd round pick on A.J. Feeble, i dont think a 3rd round pick will convince many teams to part with a average RB)

ok replacements

Willis Mcgahee (Buffalo have 2 RB's, and they'll have to do something about this situation in 2005)

this looks like their best bet. offer buffalo a 1st round pick for McGahee. since buffalo traded next year's 1st round pick to dallas, and since they have Travis Henry, then they could be tempted to accept, even if its to a division rival.

Nah its ok.. He had sanders and Payton up there and I'll accept those as valid arguements for best RB ever.. and he did say it was just his opinion.. so he's basically saying not ever to listen to his opinions cause they suck HAHAHAHAHAHA

Would it not be easier to merely delete him, adam?

We're being kind of shortsighted here. The guy quit his job to go have some fun. Wrestling fans were well pissed off when Brock Lesnar quit to try the NFL. But if he makes it, we get a big fun guy (with an innovative tackling technique) to watch. Unfortunately, loyalty matters little in business (witness Carlos Boozer).

Ricky gained nothing by waiting this long to announce his retirement.. All he did was screw the dolphins he could hav elet them know this back when the season ended so they could plan for it.. maybe get a replacement like eddie.. or draft someone.. but he waited till a week before training camp to announce it.. thats why the people that are pissed, are and have a right to be. Lesner waited for his contract to be up and let the owner know that when his contract was up he would like to go try out football..

exactly what cash said. Thats the real thing that ticks me off. It was like he deliberately did this. We could of had Eddie George or drafted accordingly but all that is out the window.

More so he has a obligation since he is signed till 2006. If he signed the contract he has to be a man and live up to it. HE did something my 10 year old god son wouldn't do and thats back down from an agreement.

I hope, (if he stays retired), that the Dolphins do sue him, like they probably will, for his salary and create more cap space, even though that won't help us this season.

LOL...Stacey Mack and Dorsey Levens are our only viable free agents.... that's just funny and sad at the same time.

I also forgot to add, there is a slight possibility based on the issues that Ricky has that in two weeks he shows up to training camp and starts practicing like nothing happened. Heck it could even be a contract negotiation tactic, even though unlikeyly, but his former GM (New Orleans) said that because of how strange and wierd he is that anything is possibiliy. So I'm hoping for the first.... If not then the second isn't bad either...lol...wishful thinking but still....

Hmm... it did it as another post.... ????
