gone...to who?
EDDIE GEORGE has ended a truely great era with the Tennessee Titans.
he has never missed a start and would probably still play should an elephant trample on him in the pre game show his durability is only paralled by jim brown (114 starts without missing a game) and the great walter payton (170).
he became the 17th back in history to rush for over 10,000 yards and only the second to do so without missing a start.
although his production slipped in recent years he was an amazing morale lifter and mentor for the entire team.
popular among titans fans (except phatboy ) and among others aswell.
im sad to see him go i have to say, but this will give holcomb and brown time to shine as RBs.
eddie george wants to go to a team with the chance of making it to the superbowl...specifically mentioning TB, Dallas and Phillie(his hometown).
but in reality will they want him..have we seen the end of eddie george?

If I were him, I'd have taken the 1.5m and go do some sit-ups to keep my lovely abs in shape. Honestly, if he thinks he's gonna be paid more than the Titans offered him elsewhere, he's smoking something hallucinogenic. What does he expect, a bidding war? Yes, granted he is the biggest most tempting free agent since Jason Gildon, but what exactly does that say?

yeah but you have to take into consideration the recent contract given to RB's of his age.
Duce Staley, 29 got a $14 for 5 years
Charlie Garner, 32 got a $20 for 6 years and a $4mil signing bonus
That should mean that George gets more than 1.5mil for one year

I certainly wouldnt have given them that kinda money. :eusa_naug
Even so both guys seem more productive to me than George.
ESPN is coming out with more funnies: "Halfback Tyrone Wheatley is watching closely to see if the Raiders go after Eddie George because as it stands now Wheatley has the best chance to be Norv Turner's featured back."
I would love to see that! "Norv Turner introduces revolutionary new four-running-back formation"
Al Michaels: "You think the Raiders are gonna run it here, John?"
John Madden: "BOOM! And George carries it for 3.3 yards!"
Ok, enough Eddie George bashing from me. In all honesty I think he can be very useful (if the price is right) in Philly, taking on a smaller role could make him a lot more productive and it'd mean every time he takes the ball he's got more energy to get the extra yard.
I really dont think Dallas would take him, I dont see how George would be an improvement over Hambrick, whom they released.

I can't see him in a Dallas uniform eithere because he would want at least 20 carries a game which I don't see them giving him especially with the drafting Julius Jones.

HE won't go to Dallas because Parcells said that he would hinder the progress and development of their 2nd round pick, Julius Jones.
On the flipside though i don't think that Duce and Garner are more productive than George. George is a solid runner who goes about things the old-fashioned way, up the gut. He doesn't run out of bounds he runs it right through you. I mean thats a RB you have to respect. He puts himself out there everyday. Although he had an off year, so did many other RB's around his age. That doesn't take away from the type or RB he is and the numbers he can put up.

yep...he does not run out of bounds...ever...he will run it right at you whether you are marcus washington or ray lewis, he will run it at you, and he will do it every day. i respect him for that, i think not only is he good up the gut but he can damn well prove people wrong, do you remember when they said he would never make it because of his upright running structure...he sure proved them wrong...there are a few more years left in him yet, hes not used all his juice, but he should have taken the cut and finished an awesome career in tennessee. wherever he goes i wish him the best of luck i really do...i love his mind set, he is what football is all about

Fair enough, your points are valid guys. I mean I like the guy too. But in purely numerical terms, he's proven that he cant be relied on as the feature back of a team. If he could swallow his pride, I see an excellent backup runner, but he'd have to be paid accordingly.
Either way, he still puts Jerome flab-is-your-friend Bettis to shame, and the big runner-turned-lineman got to be a starter last year.

"Sources have indicated and we have talked to a few leads and feel very strongly that it could happen tommorrow..."- Dallas radio
Comments form eddie's ex teamates- "Eddie said he was ok he knew he would sign with the cowboys"
I would hate for you to be WRONG AGAIN Slick

The only reason i would be wrong is because regardless of what Parcells wants... he has flat out said that he doesn't think they should sign George..... Jerry Jones has all the power to sign people and he's the one in charge so he may go against Parcells advice.... but i don't think they should unless he would backup Jones. (a battle in training camp wouldn't be bad either... push Jones more)

They are expected to sign him to tommorow pending the physical....I think this is a good move for dallas, its na upgrade from hambrick, hes tough, and its another locker room presence to go w/ woodson

cashpath do you honestly than that Parcells was upset or cared about Emmit leaving. He basically was the one responsible for causing Emmit to leave.
Personally I think they should acquire George, but I also think Slick's right in the way that he might get in the way of Julius' progress and development. Then again it may be worth it so Jones has a battle and some inspiration, a mentor, etc.
