Surprised no one has picked him up. Would have thought Baltimore would have at least had him back up Flacco

what I saw the topic, I was thinking the same thing BearCat...Baltimore. He'll unretire this year as soon as the injury bug hits some teams.

I don't think Baltimore would have any interest. They have the 1st invested in Flacco and from everything I have read/heard they are fine with the idea of Smith starting for now.

Culpepper hasn't looked very good since the knee injury. On top of that he hasn't really done himself any favors in the past with his comments. I don't think teams will want his attitude in the locker room.

I am not saying he won't get a shot but he would probably have to do it the same way Kurt Warner did. Take a back up job and then if he gets a shot he can play his way into the starters role.

It could not hurt the Ravens on bringing him in, again even if he does not start this year at least he can compete for the starting job and that could push Flacco to get better, and injuries do happen I think I would rather have Culpepper as my qb than Todd Bouman.

I wouldn't.

Simply this is how I view it. The Ravens believe Flacco is the QB of the future. They like what they have in Troy Smith right now.

Smith comes back and will push Flacco for playing time if Flacco struggles, which he more than likely will. Bouman will slide to the 3rd QB spot and probably would just be happy to be getting a pay check to hold that clip board.

I doubt Culpepper would have been happy being the 3rd string guy. He hasn't shown me or anyone in the NFL apparently that he is anything close to the QB he was before he had the knee injury.

In the end it makes so much more sense to just not even bother with him. I very seriously doubt Culpepper would have signed for what Bouman did. Culpepper says "Unfortunately, what I found out was that the league did not share any of the optimism about me as an unrestricted free agent that I expected." That sounds to me like he still believes he is one of the better QBs in the league. He was horrible in Miami. He didn't play well at all in Oakland.

He needs to step back, take a one year veteran minimum contract, and hope he gets a shot. From everything I have read I don't believe his pride will allow him to do that. It could just be me , but thats what I gather from reading his comments.

Never in the history of the NFL has a QB been as much of a product of his WR as Culpepper was of Randy Moss. He should thank Moss for every dollar he ever earned in the NFL.

I dont know about that one Short. I watched him destroy the Titans with brilliant individual plays, little crazy dump offs, deep throws, scrambles...Almost to the point of it being ridiculous how we couldnt sack or stop this guy.

Dont get me wrong, Moss made him better, but before that knee injury he was a very good player in his own right.

I agree with you TR, in his better years he would run and pass all over the Pack twice a year. I honestly thought that we would pick him up as a back up if Rodgers dosn't pan out. Apparently not...

When they talked about this on ESPN they mentioned that he had backup offers from Green Bay and one other place, but he "refused to sit there and wait for something bad to happen to his fellow quarterbacks" or something like that. Much like Disturbed said, it seems he just can't handle the thought of himself as a backup.

In other news, Randy Moss made Matt Cassel look good today. The same Matt Cassel that had a 56.6 QB rating, mostly without Moss, in the preseason. Randy Moss makes quarterbacks.

I'm surprised Green Bay or Chicago didn't make a move for him. Both are more familiar with his career than most teams and could use a veteran presence at QB (though I guess Orton and Grossman technically qualify as "veterans").

It's a shame that Culpepper has too much pride to recognize that he's past his prime and has never been the same since that injury, he'll have to eat some humble pie before any team will even tender him an offer, I guess.
