Terrell Owens

I ran across this article today and it got me to thinking its time I post this...

So I think its time I say I may have been wrong about Owens.

Before he ever came to Dallas I couldn't stand him for what he did on the Star. When I first heard he was coming to Dallas I thought that Jerry was playing with fire and I was sure that at some point it would end up coming back to haunt the Cowboys.

When he was on the sidelines riding his bike during training camp and I heard about the Overdose incident I thought "Here it comes!".

But so far Owens has been not only been outstanding on the field, but I have seen more then I ever expected I would see from him to change my mind about the guy. His support of Romo after the play off loss, his mentoring of younger players, the fact that he has not been a distraction or thrown anyone under the bus... I have to admit what I have seen or heard about the guy since he has come to Dallas has changed my view of the guy.

Now please Owens don't go do something after I have posted this to make me regret these words.

Too many people have been affected by what the media said about him. I am not saying you were but I know many people who were.

Owens in San Francisco - he had a blow up on the side lines directed at his OC. Thats the one thing you see in replays. The other big thing you see is the incident with the Star. Rarely do you see the catch against the Packers to win the game in the playoffs. This is part of what I was saying about the media.

Owens in Philadelphia - All you ever heard was how Owens was a distraction. How he was tearing the locker room apart. No one really wants to talk about the fact that doctors said he would never play in the Super Bowl that year and then he did play. Not only did he play but in my mind he was the best player on the field that day.

I will say this. I do believe he was a problem in Philly. I believe he was only part of the problem though. I would even go as far as to say he was less of a problem than McNabb. I truly believe also that if McNabb wasn't the star QB the story in Philly might have had a totally different ending.

Owens in Dallas - There have been some rocky moments here. I wonder if the problems with Parcells was more based on Bill not wanting him and not being on board at first with Jones on bringing him in.

Bledsoe lost his job because he didn't throw the ball to T.O. enough. I really do believe that. I mean he might not have held Romo off too much longer but not throwing the ball to Owens really killed him and forced Parcells hand on it.

There have been some other instances but nothing major. Honestly most of it would have never been reported on if Owens hadn't been the player involved.

Also.. I can't remember the last time I heard a Cowboy's player or coach make a negative comment about Owens.

In the end I guess what I am getting at is that Owens isn't as bad as the media makes him out to be. He is the best WR in the league today and from what I can tell, one hell of a teammate.

Bledsoe lost his job because he INTENTIONALLY didn't throw the ball to T.O. I just want to make sure that's what you mean, because that is what he would do. Bledsoe blatantly ignored T.O. and a lot of times never even looked his way. That, and the oline wasn't playing so well that year so Bledsoe being the oak that he is was just being SMASHED.. and they needed Romo in there to buy some time.
