Wow, that is a lot of money. Marion is a great back but that's a lot of money. Of course, the way Marion runs with such power and the way he looks for contact means he probably won't see the the end of that deal.
well i think he will see the end of it but prolly wont get nothin after that as he might retire. He runs just run people over. Hes like Roy Williams in away that he just wants to hit people as Williams looks for the big hits
With the owners getting rid of the cap in the next few years... It's a damn good deal.

Williams still does make the big hits just not as many as he used to. I dont know what happen but hes a much different player now then he was when he was a rookie
I was surprised to see Jones gave that much money but it is less then he was asking for. I was starting to worry when I heard that he wanted a contract like LT and LJ. I honestly thought Jerry would do like he did with Romo and wait for Barber to show a little more that he really deserves a big contract.
I dont think it will ever get to the point there wont be a cap. I think the owners opted out now so there would be plenty of time and leverage to work on a deal more fair to them before the dead line in a couple of years.
The impact here, and why Jerry gave up the money just before the owners opted out is that once that happened you can no longer sign guys to more than 5 year deals. Most of here know that a 7 year deal is more like a 5 year deal and a 5 year deal a 3 year deal. Jones saw that signing now for a bigger deal over longer years would allow him to spread the deal out over more years thus making the yearly cap hit smaller.

Gotta dog Roy a bit here... I caught this gem today...
Roy says:
"I will admit that at times, when I had one-on-one situations and you're head up on a tight end or a receiver that can go left or right, it's tough," he said. "I mean, it's just tough. Sometimes you just hope they don't throw the ball your way, because sometimes you're like, if they go inside, you don't have any help; if they go outside, you don't have any help.
