Who Would You Select With The Chargers #1 Pick
I would select Larry Fitzgerald and let him develop next to David Boston until he eventually takes his position at #1 reciever.

I would play if safe..... Take Larry Fitzgerald. With David Boston gone, they need someone on offense to compliment L.Tomlinson, that way defense's cannot put 8 in the box to stack up against the run. And no disrespect Cash, But Eli is not even comparable to Vick when they entered the draft out of college. I say they give Brees one more year, and if they suck, take a QB in next years draft... Maybe that guy from USC... I am sorry, I can't remember his name

No offense taken... I'm not Saying Eli is Vick.. I am saying he is a potential Franchise QB just like Vick is.. (vick has only played 1/2 of his NFL career so he is still just potential..)
Here is my point.. Which player gives the ball to the running back? Which player throws the ball to a reciever? Which player touches the ball every offensive play unless its a trick play?
If a team has a chance to get a guy that is a potential Franchise QB and they pass on that they are stupid. People think the cowboys are dumb for picking up drew henson, and chad hutch.. WHY? why are they dumb? They are basically giving up chump change for a chance on hitting on a franchise QB. Look at the teams that have won more than one super bowl in recent years.. what did they have in common?
49ers- Steve Young
Cowboys- Troy Aikman
Denver- Elway
New England- Tom Brady
All the Terrel Owneses and Randy Mosses and Marvin Harrisons out there.. how many CHAMPIONSHIPS are they winning for thier teams... sure pick fitz instead of ELI.. and have a good team but sit there and watch the team that picked Eli WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS.
You can't pass on a chance for a FRANCHISE QB unless you already have one.. and No offense to anyone but BREES is no franchise QB..

The QB's you listed, thats elite company. I am just not sold on the idea of drafting Manning. For some reason, I think teams are drafting the name and not the player. Your points are flawless though, seeing as they have passed on QB gems in the past. But if they draft him, more than likely he won't start. And he probably won't win right away if he does. That in point is a wasted pick because he would be acomplishing the same feats as Brees. Now I know your thinking about the future. And if you are, then why not wait and try and get a QB next year....That Trojan guy.... He is a far more better QB, just look at his stats and the fact that he won a national championship. Manning could not even get his team to a BSC game playing in the finesse of the SEC...You have to take Fitzgerald

OK.. well only time will tell we shall see...
IF you have a chance to get a franchise QB you better take it... if you don't you may end up like the chargers giving the guy away to the falcons..

Why? Are the chargers going to win the super bowl this year if they pick Fitz? Will he make them that good? If not why not draft Eli and start him.. then next year you will have a high draft pick again and a possible frachise QB with 16 games of experience..
Or you can pick fitz.. win a few more games get a worse draft pick next year.. and not GET that QB next year cause you don't have the first pick in the draft...

First off, despite passing on Vick last year, it wasn't a complete bust. LaDain is a beast and a heck of a RB, so they didn't get jipped on the deal. Of course he's not Vick and as much as i am a Vick fan if he keeps it up i don't know how long he'll even play in the NFL. Second after drafting so many QB's all of which turned out to be busts (I'm referring to the Chargers) IF I were them I would trade down with like the Giants or something, secure an extra pick or two and draft QB Ben R. who seems to be a more complete QB. As great as Eli is, I think his genes (QB Archie Manning, QB Peyton Manning) is what's getting him a #1 pick. Not that he's not a good QB or worthy, but he's a bit overhyped and you can't help but wonder if his family name is why.

That would be great.. trade down pass on manning and pick up leaf.... oops I mean Ben Rlongname
A few things a certain in the draft
1) the chargers will not get the best QB..
2) The bengals will pick someone nobody knows of (cept last year)
3) The broncos will draft some running back in the late rounds that turns out to be a hell of a rb (or product of the system)
4) Nobody really knows...

The Colts usually pick people that are unheard of but turn out to be great. Look at some of the past few: Dwight Freeney, Dallas Clark, Edgerrin James.
