This may have been discussed before, but being new I have not seen it. My apologies if it has...
If you could assemble a team from any man that has ever played football, what would your roster look lke? Here's mine:
OFFENSE
WR- Jerry Rice
WR- Chris Carter
TE- Kellen Winslow
OL- John Hannah
OL- Anthony Munoz
OL- Dermotti Dawson
OL- Nate Newton
OL- Bruce Mathews
FB- Franco Harris
HB- Walter Payton
QB- Joe Montana
DEFENSE
DL- Reggie White
DL- Mean Joe Green
DL- Bruce Smith
DL- Richard Dent
LB- Jack Lambert
LB- Dick Butkus
LB- Mike Singletary
DB- Deion Sanders
DB- Ronnie Lott
DB- Rod Woodson
DB- Dick 'Night Train' Lane
SPECIAL TEAMS
K- Mike Vanderjagt
P- Ray Guy
PR / KR - Gale Sayers
Coach - Vince Lombardi
One of the hardest things I have found is finding a 'speedster' WR. Both Rice and Carter are classic possesion guys. At Fullback, I chose the best guy that played that was classified as a 'FB'. Franco was actually used more of a halfback (or running back). The best best traditional FB was probably Tom Rathman or Mike Alstott.
QB - Dan Marino
HB - Barry Sanders
FB - Mike Alstott
WR - Marvin Harrison
WR - Terrell Owens
TE - Tony GOnzalez
RG - Will Shields
RT - Lincoln Kennedy
C - Olin Kreutz
LT - Orlando Pace
LG - Larry Allen
Defense
DE - Jason Taylor or Julius Peppers (close call for me)
DE - Reggie White
DT - Kris Jenkins
DT - Sapp (in this prime)
LB - Butkus
LB - Lavar Arrington
LB - Ray Lewis
DB - Deion Sanders
DB - Champ Bailey
DB - Patrick Surtain
DB - Lawyer Milloy
K - Vanderjagt
P - Todd Sauerbrun
Coach - Lombardi (without a doubt)
Despite liking Vick so much, Marino was the all-time best and So is Sanders if he didn't retire so early. For receivers tho i think present day receivers are so better than some of our classics. Sorry about the O-Line but i only know current players (tough choice at LT between Pace and Jonathan Ogden. How can you know have Ray Lewis in your LB core?

When you have only 3 LB spots, its hard to put one of those guys (Lambert, Butkus or Singletary) out for Ray-Ray. He'd be 4-5. In a few years, he may surpass one of them.
No offense intended, but by your picks, it seems you are younger than me and may not be familiar with some of the older players and how they actually PLAYED during their prime. Lambert was a freakin' monster. People were actually scared of this guy. Kind of like Lewis, but Lewis has an touch of respect for his fellow players. Lambert hated everybody not in a Steeler uniform. Singletary was the most driven, most intense player I have ever seen. He had a love of the game and a desire to win like 'Rudy' (from the movie of the same name), but Samurai Mike had the talent to go with it.
i might not know all those guys but i believe these newer guys will surpass most of them after some more seasons. The game has changed alot and it gets harder and harder every year so i tend to give newer guys abit more credit sometimes. Were at a time were dynasties don't really exist anymore, teams don't win 2 or 3 str8 Super Bowls.
