Larry Fitzgerald as a bust in the draft?
With the NFL draft on the horizon, and much speculation about where the elite players might end up, I ask this question. Now I cannot take credit for this question because I heard it asked on ESPN'S TV show Around The Horn. The question would be this : Could Larry Fitzgerald be the biggest bust in the draft because of his lack of speed. And I remind you, He only faced one top notch corner, that being Rolle from Miami, and he just owned him. Or is there a possible bigger bust, Like Phillip River, Sean Taylor, Eli Manning, or Roy Williams....

All along I've thought Roy Williams is the best receiver in the draft I think Larry Fitz is overrated. He won't be the BIGGEST bust it the draft cause he is a receiver. He will be productive.. he's just not gonna be ALL THAT

Larry Fitzgerald is productive theres no lie about that but he's not the best reciever in the draft. Well i say its .................. IF mike williams waz still in the draft he would be the best reciever in the draft. I wouldnt say roy williams because he hasnt produced like larry or mike.

It might be Phiilip Rivers that becomes the biggest bust in the draft. Now I don't wanna see that happen, I would like to see him succeed but he has flaws. His release of the football when he throws and his delivery might due him in, for example look at Danny Wurfull "I know I spelled that wrong" but you know who I mean.

Yes he is. He's very far from Eli. And his low release is going to screw him over.
And don't try and tell me "What about his bowl record for passing yards?" He was playing against the freakin JAYHAWKS. I'm a Jayhawk, and I bleed the Crimson and Blue of Kansas, but we suck at football.

The biggest knock on Jerry Rice was his lack of speed. Didn't seem to hurt him one bit. Now, I'm not comparing Fitz to Rice (yet), but the kid is good. I think he IS the best WR in the draft. Teams was regularly double even triple team him and id didn't stop him. He has body control and awareness that are unsurpassed. I would even say that if he were fast, he may not be as good. Since he doesn't have speed, he has honed other parts of his skills. If he had been blessed with blazing speed, I think he would have taken it for granted. Think of the 5 best WR of ALL TIME and you see that none of them (probably) aren't speed-guys. (Rice, Chris Carter, Art Monk, Steve Largent, Mike Irvin, Marvin Harrison...). OK, maybe Randy Moss. But you get my drift.
Bottom line, No. Fitz won't be a bust. He'll be a great WR. The biggest bust may be Kellen Winslow Jr. Not because of lack of talent, but injuries. I see Ray Lewis breaking his knee early in the year (if he goes to Cleveland). He is a cocky little SOB. I hate him. Typical Miami Hurricane.
Seriously, I believe Manning will be the biggest bust. If not for his bloodlines and namesake, he'd be 3rd in the QB derby. Watch our for Rothlisberger..

Uh, I agree with all you said except that Marvin isn't a speed guy. Marvin's got that extra gear man, he's fast as hell.

I'm not "hatin' " on the 'Canes. Micheal Irvin, Warren Sapp, Jeremy Shockey... all good players, but all are cocky, arrogant jerks. And I agree that Winslow Jr. is a great player. But he fits the mold. And what I said about him being a bust was a joke.
And Stallion, my bad. Marvin is fast. But he has such great overall talent I sometimes forget.

If you think Fitzgerald is going to bust because of his speed. Think about Boldin last season. Or Rice.

No way Fitz is a bust. He is not the fastest guy in the world but he has a good leap and always seems to come down with the ball. I don't think Rivers release will matter it was the same thing with Leftwich what was it again his bad drop back or something right. He said they never even spoke to him about it. Eli a bust please. Eli is better than Peyton. Eli can run better. Eli is also just as smart as his brother Peyton. Eli has a golden arm. Now i like Roth too and I though he was about as good as Eli. Put those two with some talent and they will be stars.

I can't believe i didn't catch this thread sooner so i could tell cashpath how upset i am at him..... To judge so soon. Roy Williams is no where near the best reciever in the drat. He just happens to be the fastest receiver in the draft. Fitzgerald is not only the best WR in this years draft without a doubt but also the 3 best player available in the draft behing Gallery and possibly Taylor.... Furthermore although I am not sold on Manning yet, truth is that it does run in his family and there is no reason to believe he won't live upto expectations somewhat. Philip Rivers is a better player now than Manning but Manning will become a better player over the longhaul. But don't dismiss Rivers just yet. He's been compared to Kusar. If there were a bust in this years draft (which i don't see any of the top guys being busts at all) I might have to say that it would be Rivers due to the fact that other than LaDain he has no team...... I'm not sold on Ben Rothelsberg or whatever his name is either.... not a big fan of his.
Also for dof95250.... Even though its tru Eli does have a stronger arm than his brother Peyton.... and is a bit faster.... There is no way you can tell me he is smarter than Peyton.... peyton has to be one of the smartest QB's in the game right now.... .He reads opposing defenses like nothing.... His awareness is so great .... your dead wrong if you thing that Eli has more smarts than older brother Peyton....

OK hold a second here.. I didn't judge, I predicted.. and I can do that.. Just like I predicted that Phillip Buchanon would be better than Jammer, just like I predicted that the Cowboys should have drafted Terrell Suggs last year... some of my predictions are right, some are wrong (I still think they should have taken Suggs)
But the worste thing is you till me you are upset at me for a two line prediction and then you go into a 12 Line prediction of your own??? What gives?? We don;t have to agree but no need getting upset at me over my predictions or opinions.. I don't get upset at you over yours (and yours take up a lot more room )

not really upset at you ... you know that... just a figure of speech for me, but i was abit shocked..... of all people on this board I assumed you were probably the best at recognizing and evaluating talent. Never would of though you would of posted the words Fitzgerald and bust. Also within my 12 line post.... i really didn't want to say who would be a bust. I think all the top picks have alot of talent and think they will all succeed.... i may be skeptical about a few but like them all..... this was a deep draft.....
