Michael Irvin Left Out Of Hall Of Fame

DallasCowboys.com
Feb. 5, 2005, 11:42 a.m. (CST)

One year after seeing two former Cowboys make the final six, only to be left out in the end, it happened again. This time to Michael Irvin, the Cowboys' most prolific wide receiver in club history.

Irvin made it to the final six, but was passed over in the final vote, which went to Dan Marino, Steve Young, Bennie Friedman and Fritz Pollard.

Despite playing in eight Super Bowls and winning five, the Cowboys still have only five players in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Who the Hell is Bennie Friedman and Fritz Pollard and how do they get in and not Irvin?

What a shame. Irvin deserves to be in the Hall just as much as anyone. This just supports my theory that the Sports Writers are Cowboys Haters. This is why I dont read Sports Illustrated and other Sports Magazines. They are all Cowboys Haters.

They played in like teh 20's...just saw that in the paper...but I agree, HOF voters are cowboy haters...Seems to me that alot more Steelers from there SB teams get in than cowboys from there teams

The HOF voters are anit-Cowboy just like the NFL, the refs, and just about everyone or everything that is not a cowboys fan. Thats why its great being a cowboys fan. Because you can't be a weak so-so pansy as a true Cowboys fan you have to be ready to stand up to everyone else cause they all hate you.

I'm indifferent to the cowboys.

www.fritzpollard.com - he looks worthy to me and Irvin is likely to be in next year. SI's Dr Z pointed out an anti-NY tendency among the voters, which apparently kept Harry Carson out, who - apparently again - is worthy of being in. The thing is there's a maximum of 7 entrants, I see no reason not to have put in 5 or 6 this year.

That's a shame too. Didn't think something lke this would happen. I knew Young and Marino were a virtual lock but the chances of Irvin not making never crossed my mind.

Although michael irvin did great things for the cowboys organization, one thing stands out more then his accomplishments on the field.....his cocaine bust.He embarrased the cowboys and the league,I have been a die hard cowboy fan all my life..im no fair weather fan ive been with the cowboys when they were horrid and when they were great, but i do not think michael irvin should be in the hall of fame.at least not yet.

This is absolute Bull ****. Getting into the Hall of Fame has not one effing thing to do with off the feild issues. Hall of Fame voting is supposed to be based strictly off of what the player did on the feild. Irvins off the feild problems should not even be considered and issue.

What the xxxx about LT? What do you think about his off the feild problems?

Getting into the Hall has only to do with what you did on the feild. End of story.

How many people do you think are in the Hall - of - fame that did drugs, or beat thier wives, or something worse and never got caught?

The Hall of Fame is supposed to contain the best football players its not the people of the year award.. The problem is that the voters for the hall of fame ARE anti Cowboy. I bet when Larry Allens time comes he gets passed over also cause he had 1 off year..
