01/18/05 FLOWERY BRANCH — Terrell Owens sent a funny message to the Falcons, although it's not clear if anybody's laughing.The Eagles wide receiver said his surgically repaired right ankle, and fractured right fibula may not keep him out of Sunday's NFC Championship Game against Atlanta.
"He says he's playing," coach Jim Mora said. "He said to (Atlanta wide receiver Jimmy Farris): 'Hey, you tell Jim I might be there. I might be there.' And I'll tell you what, he's such a tremendous competitor . . . old 81 might just trot out on the field Sunday."Owens, who was injured Dec. 19 against Dallas, befriended Farris when Farris was on the 49ers' practice squad in 2001.
Philadelphia team officials have not been as optimistic as Owens, who had surgery Dec. 22, when doctors put, "a syndesmotic screw put through both bones in his ankle to stabilize that joint," Eagles athletic trainer Rick Burkholder said. "That screw is pretty big."A spiral fracture in Owens' fibula, about 10 centimeters below his knee, is being trusted to heal on its own.
Owens is virtually certain not to play, but as his history demonstrates, predicting what he'll do is dangerous business. "He called me during the (Vikings-Eagles) game, and said, I'm might just be out there, you never know," Farris said. "If you know Terrell, he was just messing around, I think.
Although if anybody was to come back that soon from that injury I wouldn't be surprised if it was him.

I hope he plays, then again..I kinda don't want him to play..
1) Obviously he is our best WR this year and will help out the team..a reason why I DO want him to play.
2) I think we can beat Atlanta without T.O. and would rather have him rest this one out and play it safe instead of getting injured even worse..a reason why I DON'T want him to play.
I think they play fine WITHOUT him last week, they will only be screwing themselves in they play him, cause they will keep trying to goto him, if it works or not...GO FALCONS!!!!!(now that Indy is out) BTW, I already hate TO, this will make me hate him more!!
Not to be arguementative but With TO this year the eagles only lost 1 game they ended up 13-3 but basically took 2 games off..
In 2003 they were 12-4
In 2002 they were 12-4
In 2001 they were 11-5
So they really haven't done THIS good EVERY year.
This team could have been 15-1 with T.O. had they wanted to be.
Having said that thier defense IS better this year with the exception of the corners, and thats why they have a chance against the falcons because if there is a spot on D you CAN be weak against the Falcons its CB
It shoudl be a good game.
