Henson most likely to start for Cowboys on Turkey Day

Listening to Parcells Press Conference today, I heard what all Cowboys fans have been waiting to hear.

Parcells said Henson will start "Unless Vinny considerably improves in the next couple of days."

I would like to note that Parcells did not specify what type of improvement he meant. Did he mean if his sore shoulder improves? One is left to ponder if Parcells has finally realized that Vinny is not a great quarterback. After throwing 8 interceptions in the last 3 games, maybe Parcells has realized that Vinny is nothing more that a backup quality quarterback in his old age and by "Improve" he means as a quarterback and not health wise.

With the Cowboys all but eliminated from the Play-Off race, putting young guys like Henson and Julius Jones out on the field gives fans a reason to watch games again, hoping to get a glimps of the future of the Dallas Cowboys. Now it doesn't matter if they dont win another game this season, it's all about "How does the future look".

Yeah but 2 days of practice and then letting Henson start isn't the best case scenario.... he should start the following week, week 13 after he has like 11 days before the game, but again Parcells knows better than I do.

Yeah but coming in losing 23-3 against the ravens D isn't the best situation either and he handled it ok

6 of 6 47 yards and a td

I would be willing to bet that Henson will be better than any of the QBs Chicago puts on the field Thursday. And thier starter has had alot of time in practice and has started a few games. Without looking it up, can you name a single one of thier QBs. I can name thier 3rd string QB only because he was once a Cowboy.

Henson knows the plays, its not a question of "Has he had enough time in practice?" It's more a question of "Is he ready for the speed of an NFL game?" The only way to get ready for that is to get used to it by playing, not practice. He looked very composed against the Almighty Ravens Defense. He did not have the "Deere in the Headlights" look that most young QBs have. Even after the first snap he took from scrimage that ended up in a Sack/Forced Fumble, he came back out and kept his poise and put together a good drive.

I saw the same thing happen to another young QB (Bears 3rd sting QB) and he went to the sideline crying "Im trying, Im trying".

I can name their starter... Craig Krenzel. But, that's just because the Colts played them on Sunday.

Yeah, I don't know much about the Cowboys but I'd think this was a good coaching move. No offense to the Cowboys fans, but their season is over, just like the Chiefs' season is over. Getting Henson a chance to learn the system is a good call. I wish the Chiefs had a promising QB or something to plug in.

No kidding. Is it just me, or is Trent Green starting to look like Kurt Warner did his last year and a half in St. Louis? He's sitting in the pocket too long, completely unaware of any defenders around him. I don't know if it is because Priest is out or what, but he looks pretty bad.

I guess I was kind of right about Henson starting so soon ( I still think he's better than Vinny and should start, just referring to him starting too soon), but Julius was just plain nasty.

I mean that 33 yard TD run he had was so nasty, that juke he hit them with was just too nice... that has to go on ESPN Sportcenter for play of the week consideration.

Wouldn't it make more sense to get the stupid mistakes and errors outa the way now when the season means nothing?

Ok the Bears came out and Blitzed like crazy because Henson was in. Henson ended up throwing a INT. So Parcells pulls him and puts Vinney in. Vinney throws and INT on a blitz also. I didnt see any difference from Henson to Vinney. And it doesnt matter how long you wait to put Henson out there and it doesnt matter who the opposing team is. They are going to Blitz the hell out of the new guy until he proves he can burn them for it. So we might as well go through it now when the season is pretty much meaningless.

thats not the reasoning behind what I said. from what I read and heard from NFL analysts was that Henson's mechanics were still alittle off and there were some things he may need to work on for atlest one more week before he starts.

Not knocking on him, I was just saying

Ok. From what I saw his mechanics looked fine. All his throws were on a rope. Straight from the QB to the reciever like a lazer and right on the reciever. When Vinney throws its more "Rainbow" like. Hensons INT was dumping to the out route and the CB knew it was going there because of the pressure so he jumped the route. Vinney's INTs (Thats almost all of them this season). Were from toss ups or balls that stayed in the air too long. Vinney just chucks things up sometimes instead of throwing it away or taking the sack. I havent seen enough of Henson to say he wont do the same but his throws are alot better than Vinneys.
