BRETT FAVRE on cover of Madden 09


Brett Favre will be on the cover of Madden 09. So unless he unretires or dies in a hunting accident EA has finally found a way to break the curse. Just use FORMER NFL players instead of current ones.

Of course.. what this means is that the game will probably have a hall of fame and something to do with legends, retired players, etc.

What a move... I was reading up on the game on EsPORTS.COM and you can have like online leagues...that should be very intersting.

I can think of guys who have retired who deserve to be on the cover more...I think they should have stuck to current players.

I'm so happy bout this, I've always said that he's desrved to be on the cover. While I do belive that there are some better current players that could've been put on (Eli, Brady, Romo etc), I guess that there will be some cool new features (Hell, maybe last years game won't be the last one that he's in O_o)

Barf...tribute to Favre or cheap attempt to get rid of the curse? I also don't like what this means for the "new feature" this year...as Cash said it will probably be something with legends or something cheesy like that. Not happy.

It's gotta have something to do with hall of fame, and legends. I can't really think of any other reason to put Favre on the cover.

As far as Titans comment about there being guys who have retired that deserve it more, the way I see it he is the most recent. I'm not sure who in particular you're thinking of Titans, but the most recent I can think of is Emmitt Smith, and its been a few years since even he retired.

Jeeze, I don't want this to turn into some huge argument, but who actually belives in the curse? You've got to be pretty, shall we say superstitious to belive in this stuff. I know its weird, but I mean, its like beliving in ghosts. Till theres some kind of scientific link between a guys picture on a game, and that same guy/ his team playing crap, I don't run in horror and hide from the evil "curse"

If I'm not mistaken, some players have turned down the Madden cover because of the curse. I can't cite any specific examples, I just remember hearing it. I could be wrong.

Wow, very surprising. I didn't think it would be Favre. Not a bad choice though. Hopefully it doesn't mean the focus of the game is implementing legends some how. That would be pretty lame, if so. Maybe they plan on making a new Legend type of game mode or something?

I agree 100 %. Brett Favre? I mean how are you going to put a retired player on the cover? Im speechless. Id rather have freakin eli. And thats saying something...
