I'm just happy I have NFL Network from Dish Network. To be honest, I love the NFL Network and hope it does eventually come to basic cable programming. If I'm not mistaken NFL Network is one of the fastest growing networks ever.
Time Warner is pretty moronic because eventually they'll be shooting themselves in the foot for not picking up the NFL Network.

I'm happy I have NFL Network as well because this will be a great game. It does suck for those people that don't have it, but if they wanted to see it that bad they could get someone to stream it for them or get them the video via an online showing.

While I'm happy to have it with Comcast, I side with the cable industry on this one. Both sides are far too greedy, but the NFL network has no right to be on a basic channel lineup, it is by every definition of the word a special interests programming channel.

Wow.. well, I side with the people that Own the Network.. They own the Network and therefore THEY SAY where it goes..
And in the end it's cable that is stupid and loses a bunch of customers over it. It's not like it hurts the NFL anywhere near as much... And The Dish companies (DirectTV RULES!!) are the ones that are LOVIN IT!! I'm sure the Dish companies are just thanking these stupid cable networks every day their dumbasses continue to refuse to carry the NFL Network.

ESPN covers all major sports, which is a huge market. Yes the NFL is probably the most popular sport, but it is still a special interest rather than general.
Cable companies are looking out for the best interest of their customers, and it isn't fair to the majority of cable customers to charge them extra for premium special interest channels.
My view is similar to the guy that wrote the article, but I didn't dig around to find it. I'm sure a lot of people on this board read ESPN.com and maybe even the weekly TMQ article.
No one is right or wrong here, both sides are greedy and driven by profit.

Sports is a special interest. To call the NFL a special interest and not call sports a special interest just shows that you are grasping at straws.

Right like ESPN... Everyone pays for ESPN.. and I'm willing to guess that less than 5% of the people who do watch ESPN DON'T watch NFL related stuff. I could waste my time finding a lot of networks that are offered with the 'basic' package by these cable companies and pointing out how much more special interest they are than the NFL network (MTV, CMT, etc) but I'll spare both of us that pointless waste of my time.
The Cable Networks and people who use them are the only people losing out.. and in the end they will either give in or lose a lot more NFL fans. (Which is a LOT of thier subscriber base)
