I'm just wondering what everyone's thoughts on the current situation is in Division I football are...
Ohio State will play for the National Championship and deservingly so. They're the best team in the nation, no doubt. However, it's a little more complicated than that when it comes to who will play them in early January.
Even with my boys losing at OSU this last Saturday, they're still ranked #2 in the BCS standings and in the Coache's AP poll. But, who really wants to see Michigan-OSU II? Even as a die-hard, Michigan fan, it's hard for me to say they deserve to play a team that they already lost their last game to for the national championship.
So, the debate is...who deserves to play Ohio state? Michigan fans argue that Michigan is the best 1 loss team in the nation, losing only to the #1 ranked team by 3 points on the road. Then the other players are USC, Florida, Notre Dame, and Boise State...Yes, Boise State.
USC - A great one loss team, who lost to Oregon State at Oregon State. Two tough games coming up at No. 6 Notre Dame and UCLA. If they win out, a very good chance we'll see the men of Troy playing for the National Championship once again.
Florida - Another 1 loss team who has a shot at winning a bid for the NC. Has a game against Florida State left. Could end up in the NC if USC blows their game against UCLA and winning vs. Notre Dame.
Notre Dame - Huge game vs. USC. If they win, they'll be a one loss consideration, but the argument is that they were blown out by Michigan early in the year.
Boise State - 11-0 with a game left * Nevada. The argument against these guys is well...they're Boise State and they play in the WAC. Regardless, they're unbeated and should be considered just for that. And hey, unlike USC, Boise took it Oregon State.
So guys, what are your thoughts on another botched BCS year? I personally think that playoffs would solve this whole thing, but hey, why complain? It's something to debate. Oh, the beauty of sports.
Personally, part of the reason I never got into college football before the past few years is because of the way the rank system is designed.
What about Wisconsin? They've only lost to Michigan, and the past two games they have been playing with thier backup QB. I guess they have a easier schedule?
Even with their only loss being to Michigan, their BCS average isn't high enough to garner enough attention to mention. Although, they are a one loss team that has their only loss to the #2. But, the Big 10 has been regarded as a weak conference for as long as I can remember.
personally i think michigan should have another shot at Ohio St.
wow OSU beat them on their in turf, thats sure something to be proud of
USC should def. not make it because they lost to Oregon freakin state, that is pathetic
Notre Dame shouldnt make it over michigan for one reason, they lost to michigan that would sure be fair
Flordia i dont know that much about so i really cant say anything about them
Boise State...thanks for giving me a laugh lol hahahahah
Michigan is the best college team...they should have another shot at OSU
Who cares.. The BCS got it wrong... When Ohio State stomps the piss out of Florida we will all wish we had gotten to see Michigan get a rematch on nuetral ground.
This is why college football sucks.. all it is is a LONG scouting combine for the pros. Until they institute a playoff it's just a money making scouting scheme. Not a real sport.

Ok, good. In my opinion, you're an idiot. Good thing I can't be wrong!

I'm in total agreement. If the Presidents would stop being so greedy and let playoffs happen...well, college football would be worth paying attention to (outside of looking for potential NFL players)
I hate to hear everyone saying oh these kids are playing 12 or 13 games and its so grueling for them and hard on their bodies. I would think that if they are wanting to goto the pros this would be nothing for them.
The NFL you can play up to 19 weeks that count and that dont include the bye week or the 5 weeks of preseason.
Would it really be so freakign hard for them to make an 8 or preferably a 16 team playoff system? If college football wants to be so PC then they should have the undefeated broncos play OSU. Yes they would get killed but hey they are the other undefeated team. I personally am glad that USC lost again so I didnt have to hear about them over and over and over.
I like college football but i rarely watch any bowl games. Yeah its all about the big money but they could rotate the big money bowl games with the playoff teams. If they want to keep the other 20 meaningless bowl games for lower teams then so be it but at least give us a playoff system for the top ranking teams. Heck if Div III can do it why cant the bigeest baddest division?
Well the call had a lot to do with it.. I can't say it's the only reason because who knows what would have happened.. but they would have had a better chance of winning had it not been for the call (which yes.. I felt was BS)

In one of my Front Office Football leagues I am in there with a bunch of guys from Michigan. They told me over and over how much better the Big 10 was than the SEC. I tried to tell them that OSU had not played against a team with as much team speed as Florida have. These boys from the South can flat out run.
Well... needless to say I won a few stupid $10 bets.
Do you think OSU would have won if Ginn is able to play or were the Gators just too dominant for him to have made a difference as far as winning the ball game goes?
