Tyrone Willingham Gone....

It has been reported that Noter Dame has Just Fired Tyrone Willingham. His final record at ND was 21-15, he took the school to 2 bowl games, and he was finally starting to get his recruiting class in. Do you guys think this is fair?

I fully blame it on the pressure from the student body, a mass of students who come and go in four years. Many of them were set to protest his position of head coach. Notre Dame is a majestic school with a rich tradition. All most people remember is the accolades of the past and not all the hard work put forth to get there. They expect things to be grand and prestine almost immediately. I feel bad for Coach Ty because I feel that he was a good coach and he was good as a representative of the Irish.

There are rumors about possible other coaches up for the job, including Urban Meyer of Utah. I wouldn't mind seeing old Lou Holtz come back, but I know he is getting old.

Notre Dame is losing their splendor and that definately makes me sad. I hope that they return to greatness again real soon for the sake of their supporters.

Urban Meyer has said repeatedly that Notre Dame is his dream job. In my opinion, it is almost a lock for Meyer to end up at Notre Dame. Other predictions- Boise State coach Dan Hawkins to Florida, and Dave Wannstedt will end up at the University of Pittsburgh.

With Butch Davis free, I wonder if he'll return to the NCAA. I personally think Davis was a catalyst to behind the scene problems. Oh well, we will never know.

Dumb move, born of arrogance, not unlike the firing of Frank Solich of Nebraska. Guys, it ain't the '70's anymore. There is a fair amount of parity in college football. You can't recruit the best players just by BEING Notre Dame or Nebraska. You cannot expect to go undefeated every year. I used to like both Nebraska and Notre Dame, but now I wish them ill-will just because they seem to think they are so damned good. I LOVED seeing Nebraska have a losing season and not going to a bowl after 35 years. Hope the same thing happens to the Irish.

I think that blowout was the last straw for them. Notre Dame lost 3 games at home this year, but those games weren't any walk in the park. ND's academic standards make it tough, too. My dad is a Notre Dame football fan and I kinda like Notre Dame, and I don't think they should've gotten rid of him...

Osborne retired. They fired Frank Solich. Nebraska would fire Tom Osborne the day after Carrot Top were elected president.

As long as I dont hear any cries of "Racism" then I dont care either way. I've been hearing about this all day on the Dallas Sport Radio stream and people are calling in and playing the race card.

The fact is, its always "What have you done for me lately". And with this years record the Irish took a step back (Contrary to what redskins8056 said). Look at the records. The team is on a down slide. Rumors are that there is a very good coach (Cant remember the name) available that has always wanted to coach at ND. The schools staff knows this and based on the performace of Willingham lately they want the new guy.

Its no different than anyone else would do, I have to say I would do the same thing.

My take on the hole thing is that they were too fast to let him go. I really feel sorry for his replacement. The point is that they are not going to be any good for awhile anyway. It's to hard to be a football player at Norte Dame. First off they have very high academic standards. 2nd their schedule is the hardest in the nation. No coach will be able to win a national championship with their talent and their schedule. What more can u ask from a man, he beat Michigan and Tennesse. That in my book is pretty damn good. They are going to end up looking like Nebreska did this year. What a shame!!!!!!!!!!!!
