SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Georgia Southern football players report for preseason practice on Aug. 4 and one of the hot rumors currently floating around is Marcus Vick will be in the Eagles camp.Vick, the younger brother of Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick, is apparently thinking of ending his career at Virginia Tech following recent arrests that have led to his indefinite suspension from the program by Coach Frank Beamer.
The Tech player was involved in drinking alcohol with underage girls in the spring. At that time, Vick was placed on game-by-game suspension. Earlier this summer, he was charged with driving under the influence and marijuana possession, and his sanction was elevated to an indefinite suspension by the school.
GSU coach Mike Sewak confirmed some Vick followers had contacted GSU to see if there was any interest in accepting a transfer by the rising sophomore. Sewak said, however, there is nothing in the works at this time and he's not sure how strong the Eagles' interest would be should there be further inquiries.
"I've heard the rumor," Sewak said. "We have all the natural ties. ... But, I haven't personally talked to Marcus or anyone else associated with him."
Sewak recently hired former Tech standout Ken Oxendine as wide receivers coach. The former Atlanta Falcons running back was the Hokies assistant strength and conditioning coach in the 2002-03. Also, defensive ends coach Andre Curtis, who came to GSU from VMI, knows Vick's high school coach and it was the high school coach who contacted Curtis to see if there would be any interest on GSU's part.
"To be honest, it'd be a far reach for us," Sewak said. "I'm sure he is a good young man, but I'd have to see the whole package. It might be a case of his having grown up too fast. He has issues to deal with and I don't know if I want to deal with those issues.
"I feel bad for Marcus and it's going to be a circus wherever he goes and I don't know if I want that circus."
Should Vick transfer to a Division I-AA school he would be eligible immediately. The Eagles, however, are solid at quarterback with two-year starter Chaz Williams and backup Trey Hunter, both seniors.
"I like the guys I have," said Sewak said. "All I can tell you right now is no one has talked to the head coach (Sewak) personally about Marcus Vick."
Georgia Southern has six transfers on this year's team. None, however, came with any legal or academic problems, Sewak said.

He has been kicked out from VT's football program!! So how can he NOT leave? He will play SOMEWHERE.. He has to, I mean he can still be a 4th or 5th round pick if he plays good no matter where he plays..

People don't get busted and kicked out of schools and be a great QB his head is messed up.. Some people thought Ryan Leaf would be a great QB too. Point is whatever team takes a chance on him in the NFL draft is doing just that.. taking a chance.. who knows that he doens't go out and kill someone or something... thats why he won't go till the later rounds...
Disclaimer: If he hired drew rosenhouse as his agent the bills might take him in the first round even if he was in prison at the time..

lol.....i dont think hes messed up in the head....he made 1 mistake with drugs...and the girl thing...blah any ways the drugs..although i dont agree with him doing it i know that 99.9 % "not really that much" of sports players college or professional have done drugs atleast one time during their career o well i beleive in Marcus and i feel he can get over this little/big problem...

Thats nice.. you may be right.. he may be good or even great some day... but he will still be a low round pick if he even gets drafted... highest owuld be 3rd round...
And he better find somewhere to play if he plans on being drafted at all...
