Battle for the Heisman
I thought saying 'Race for the Heisman' would be too cliche' and this year it's been an all out battle for the Heisman.
Right now it seems there are four or five favorites. I'll list them for those who aren't too familiar with college football:
- Tim Tebow (sophomore) - QB - Florida
- Chase Daniel (junior) - QB - Missouri
- Darren McFadden (junior) - RB - Arkansas
- Pat White (junior) - QB - West Virginia
- Colt Brennan (senior) - QB - Hawaii
Since Missouri is going to lose and West Virginia lost tonight, I would rule Daniel and White out of contention - though Daniel will likely be invited to New York as one of three finalists.
Right now it looks like Tebow will likely end up winning it. He's only a sophomore but he's put up some great numbers including just over 3,000 yards passing (69% completion percentage), close to 900 yards rushing, 29 passing TD's (with only 6 INT's) and 22 rushing TD's which is awesome for a QB.
That and Tebow has a ton of buzz surrounding him. A lot of people just seem to think he has that 'it' factor required to win the Heisman.
Well, if you guys have any other players you think should be invited to New York, feel free to post them or just discuss who you think will win the Heisman this year.

Kevin Smith from UCF, I was upset he didn't even make the Doak Walker finalist list...But at this point Tebow is sure fire to win it.

I think Tebow will win it but I wouldn't say he's sure fire to win it because he'll probably lose some votes since he's only a sophomore. I think it'll end up being a close vote between him and McFadden.

I don't like Tebow too much. Id like to see McFadden win it. Before his injury i thought Dixon was a hell of a player though.

Tebow will probably win it but I think Colt Brennan should win it and that is where my vote would go

I'm actually a fan of Brennan myself. I think not only should he win it this year, but he also should have won it last year. I mean, the guy put up 58 touchdowns last year (NCAA single season record) and he broke the all-time career TD record this year which may never be broken again.
If Colt Brennan played anywhere but Hawaii, where most of their games aren't televised, then I think he'd be a shoe in to win the Heisman.
Not to mention Brennan led his team to be the only undefeated this year.

Colt Brennan should win but I hope Darren McFadden wins it. The kid is the next Adrain Peterson when he gets drafted next year

Agreed. I read a quote in SI from Hawaii's coach June Jones where he said Brennan should have won the Heisman last year because he had more passing TDs and yards than Troy Smith(the Heisman winner) and Chad Henne COMBINED.

I'm not sure what you're saying here..
Are you saying McFadden will be injury prone like Adrian Peterson, or he won't be?
Either way, McFadden is a heck of a running back - obviously he likely won't be as good as Peterson, at least not early in his career, but I think he'll be an amazing player. He's huge for a running back. Looks to be nearly 6'3 if I had to take a guess and runs with some superb power and great speed. The biggest difference between the two is that McFadden will lower his shoulders when he runs while Peterson runs more up right.

If Eric Crouch can win, Colt Brennan deserves to win. Also, props to Hal Mumme for having the balls to vote Hawaii #1 in the last coaches poll. At least someone gets it.

Tebow. He is a monster for real. he effin broke a NCAA record. that's pretty hard to do....i think he gets it.
but i LOVE Chase Daniel...he had this play action pass against Oklahoma where he just stood there with the ball behind his back and the whole defense just went for the runner. i almost s**t my pants
