I'm playing NCAA 2005: I know, I'm a little behind in the times. But, I bought the game for $7 vs $50.
Anyway, I play with 5 or 6 minute quarters. Who has time to sit through a 3 hour video game? Not me. All of my stats are earned through a 5 or 6 minute quarter, whereas the rest of the world's stats seem to be earned through a normal 15 minute quarter.
What can I do to even out the stats? I hate having the #1 defense, but the "worst" offense.
just play more often. Something I have noticed is that everyone ahs their own style of play. So just because you're favorite team runs the Fun and Gun doesn't mean you can. Try using different playbooks or creating your own. Also if you are doing dynasty mode recruit players to fit your system. A fast but weak RB usually doesn't excell if you are running like an "I" formation offense. Therefore you would need more of a power back.
I found that 7 minute quarters do balance it out quite a bit more. I still have a fairly good defense, but when you play really good teams you will think your defense sucks too.
About offense I finally found that I like Notre Dames. They have 3 or 4 formations that are two back, one 5 WR set, and a buttload of one back formations. There are tons of plays and options to choose from so if you are having trouble doing one thing you can try and switch things up. It took me a bit to find an Offense I liked using.
Also try setting you sliders a bit differently. Maybe add one to you blocking schemes.
And as far as evening out the stats... and balancing offense and defense .... I meant that in relation to having such short play time. I'm getting very comfortable with my play calling and my team (dynasty Arkansas Razorbacks ), but its because I don't have the opportunities to rack up the yards like other teams do, because of the time constraint.
If I played 15 minute quarters, my offense would be much higher ranked, I'm sure. Its just because I play a truncated time-frame.
yeah I use to play 5 minutes but you will never have any stats because of the time. I have found that with 7 which really isnt that much longer or too bad play time, the stats ae a lot more realistic. Ive played 15 minute quarters only a couple of times and the stats were ridiculous, and the game got boring playing on that timeframe.
Hopefully bumping to 7 will help your stats factor in a more realistic number against the simmed teams at 15 minutes.
Ok, started season #2 at Arkansas (coach finished all 3 goals last season, and the school prestige went from 3 to 4. thats going the right direction!), and I've set it on 7 min quarters.
Game #1
#13 Texas at #11 Arkansas
Blowout! 49-0, my first shutout!
And overall stats look much more realistic. I think this should be the trick I needed.
