News from EA on the NCAA 09 Roster bug

We have identified and fixed the bug causing the game to crash when editing rosters. This bug also causes teams to disappear and team ratings to change.

The patch is being tested tonight, and assuming all goes well it will be submitted tomorrow for certification. The expected release is in 5-10 days.

Until the patch, we recommend you cease editing rosters. Rosters that have been corrupted by the bug will not work after the patch. If you have a roster in progress and have not encountered any freezes or missing teams, it will work after the patch. There is a possibility a roster can be corrupt and not have surfaced any problems yet. This is why we recommend that you stop or back up your work among multiple save files.

We are also fixing the bug where the depth chart gets reordered after editing a player with this patch.

These are the ONLY fixes in this patch. We are planning on a 2nd patch with many fixes, but we had to get this one out the door.

We appreciate everyone's patience on this matter.

I think we found out also (I've read on other site and tested) that as long as you don't edit the rosters after you download them they're working fine, so wait until the patch is released to actually make changes to the rosters you have downloaded.

It seems every year around this time EA screws something up that could have been prevented with a good Quality Department and early releases to some decent beta testers. You had the huge bug with Madden not allowing imported draft classes, now this and the slider bug, what the hell are they going to screw up on Madden this year? Players gonna turn into women wearing their helmets on their asses if you call a certain play?

EA makes some of the best games out there, but when they screw up they always screw up big. A little quality testing should catch the big things, I would understand a few little things getting through, but these huge things are just a complete lack of quality testing.

Regardless of whatever opinion you may have of me around here, I am offering free full name rosters (for PS3 only), that are glitch free if you want them, out of my EA locker (Ballbright).

A few of the names aren't spelled correctly as my cousins worked on them with me, and aren't the most attentive to detail people in the world.

If you want them simply download them from my locker.

Be advised, however, that it is highly likely that once EA introduces their patch the rosters will most likely not work....and you'll have to get new ones...

First off I havent had any problems with this "roster glitch" and I downloaded my rosters from pasta padre. Also I have edited some with uniforms and helmets and other stuff and still no problems. But, why are we still waiting on this patch??? I was hearing that the patch was being worked on and was supposed to be released a couple of weeks ago. At this rate, the second patch(which has been confirmed), will be released sometime in December

Second patch will be released sometime in September..

And the roster glitch does exist.. play a game against FIU with your rosters.. see what thier Ratings as a team are.

I wasnt saying that the glitch doesnt exist, I was however stating that I havent noticed the glitch. I have played againts FIU after editing my rosters. Either I am blind and I dont notice it, or I was extremely lucky??? I really hope that EA keeps to their word with this patch. I know people who have experienced the glitch, that are waiting on this first patch, they are pretty restless and upset at a patch that was supposed to come out a week after the game launched. This roster glitch was known before the game was sold in the stores, and they (EA) were already working on the patch. I am not sure where the hold up is at, but it is probably a mixture between EA and Microsoft.

The hold-up is with Microsoft and Sony.. EA had the patch done a while ago and sent it to EA and Sony to be 'certified' thats what everyone is waiting on.

Not sure if the patch was implemented, but last night I got on live and the game downloaded an update?? I am thinking that this is the patch, but like I said, I am not positive.
