I know this is an OLD Movie. But when I watched it as a kid, I didn't even know who Dennis Leary was.
But then I started to think about it. Dennis Leary is a BOSTON RED SOX fan. In the movie, Dennis Leary plays the father of the main character.
When Dennis Leary's father passes away in the movie, he leaves a baseball signed by BABE RUTH to him, which in return he was gonna give it to his son.
During the movie, you remember (if you have seen it) that the baseball becomes destroyed, and he (James Earl Jones) replaces the baseball with a baseball signed by a whole New York Yankees World Series Championship team.
Hmm... Irony?

For Madden people the best way to explain it is that he has a very low awareness.
My g/f was playing it for my little sister, and I just started to realise small things.
