Cap Penalties?

Is there a way to clear your cap penalties in Madden 07 cause I accrued 35 mil' worth of cap penalties somehow and I don't have any money to sign draft picks. Also can you get cap penalties from trading players or from signing new players cause I didn't release any players.

From trading players you get cap penalites.

When you trade a player you have to pay him the remaining money of his signing bonus fo the length of the contract.

Example. Jimmy Bob has a 5 year deal with a 15 million signing bonus (3 million a year). After two years you decide you want to trade him for Bobby Joe. You would be responsible for 9 million dollars in signing bonus money owed to Jimmy Bob. Therefore, you take a 9 million dollar cap hit the following season.

Yeah, you have to be smart and not just trade people away....

I NEVER trade someone who has a cap hit thats even remotely high. Not smart lol. You have to just push it out.

Hmm there is a way to clear penalties on the regular xbox.. not sure about the next gen though.. (you take a prestige hit)

I'm not sure about 07 but 08 you can clear cap penalties. If you have enough
cap room to do this I've given a very large salary and no salary bonus. You want to do this for trading. You never want to keep a long term player with this kind of deal, let alone many. Each year your paying them much more. Another tip is to sign players to a very long deal for short term cap. In Madden 08 you get about 4 million for winning the Super Bowl. With that you may beable to have a little bit more wiggle room when it comes for cap room. The number one thing to help is just start over until you get the idea. This may take many tries to understand the system. I still struggle at times during the offseason. I always try and sign my players before the offseason. This locks them in. Sadly this becomes an issue with free agency and the draft. Which is why I genrally trade my draft picks away, for stud players. You can go through the offseason with cap room problems until the preseason. Then I would take the prestige hit. Note- this is for XBOX 360 I'm not too sure about all the deatails on other consles.
p.s. look at the 49Ners fiasco in the early 90's they are now a stable team cap wise with the signing of Nate Clements which was a highly paid free agent. The best of luck to you.
