I started a franchise and noticed that I could not use my custom playbook in franchise mode. Am I doing something wrong or did EA take this feature out?
EA Sports simply dropped the ball on this one. I can't get my custom playbook to show up on the list in order to choose it. I love making up cool formations to use in my franchises, however now I won't be able to use them because of a stupid programming glitch. I guess we have reverted back to the Sega Genesis days when we had no ability to use created plays.
WTF is the point of custom playbook if you cant use it in franchise mode... now im stuck with crappy preset playbooks... this is a tragic step back... they should rename it Madden 1999.
Unless I'm doing something wrong it seems that you can't use a custom playbook while in Franchise mode. Is this TRUE! What is the purpose of having a custom playbook if you cant use it in Franchise, Superstar modes, and you can't set it as you main playbook for your profile! It appears that EA has really dropped the ball with this one and that this is a major bug. If I missed something and you can use custom playbooks please post.
EA has finally done it!! they fixed the custom playbook bug in franchises. I have been asking for this fix for years. The brilliant minds at EA after 3 years of bugs have come up with the answer. Instead of fixing the bug they just eliminated the option that caused it..
There are no custom playbooks in franchise mode... Nice fix EA..

The easy 'fix' was to add a formation to the custom playbook you wouldn't use, and design your playbook around other formations.
A *HUGE* downgrade not being able to use it in franchise. Most of the man-coverage-based defenses leave recievers open on the blitzes, and the post routes run too much like slants. Now I can't tweak that with an edit.
If OCs and DCs can make adjustments, why shouldn't we be able to? EA really blew it on this one.
Well I for one sent a scathing letter to two people on the Madden development team and told them what a stupid decision this was to omit the playbook from franchise mode. Who the hell creates a playbook and just uses it in single player mode?!? Screw the idiots at EA who made this decision.
Answer You must choose a custom play book before each game if you intend to use one. You can do this at the controller select screen before you play a game. Press the Options button as listed at the bottom of the screen. The options menu includes your uniform and playbook options.
Custom playbooks cannot be used online or in Franchise mode.

This is all a bunch of horse****!!! They cut custom playbooks from franchise mode?!?!? For what? QB vision? A trunk sitck? WHAT THE ****? I'll just sick with '05 and wait another year.
I bought this game two hours ago. Sat down, did some drills. Made my playbook. Started a franchise with my Lions (only way they will ever win a SuperBowl is through madden). Went to play my game with my playbook and i couldn't use it. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I was dumbfounded, surfed the net and found another 30 pissed off people. Tell me your going to put out new copies????? So tragic that these fools making all this money programming games can not remember/fix the option of choosing a custom playbook in the franchise mode. Now i have to find some fool to sell this game to. I can't play it without custom playbooks. IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST OPTIONS!!!! What a piece of crap, can't wait till Twoods come out. What will they do next, forget to put Tiger in the game???? DO NOT NUY THIS if u use custom playbooks!!!!! EA pull your head out of your rear!!!!!
Wow. Its amazing all these people that used custom playbooks but never ran across the Custom Playbook Bug. Funny. You would think if someone was into it enough to make a Custom Playbook then they would also do substitutions.

Does anyone know how to load custom playbooks for use in franchise mode (not online)?
I've made some great playbooks but I can't figure out how to allow myself to use them in games. If anyone can give me instructions on how to do that I would really appreciate it!
Ok all the threads where people are asking about custom playbooks have been merged into one thread. From now on when someone asks about the custom playbooks I will merge it into this thread and hopefully they will get thier answer.
So dont bother replying to new custom playbook threads anymore as I will delete your answers when I merge the thread into this one.

First off you posted in the wrong area....two, you didn't search for it, you just posted....LOOK around before posting....do you think you're the only one that CAN'T do the playbook in franchise mode....get real!!!

I created an offensive playbook with the intentions of using it when playing with my franchise team. Within the franchise mode options i couldn't find a way to create the playbook, so i did it from the main options screen under create-a-playbook. My playbook came out good, and when i went to try to use it within my franchise, it could not find it, nor was there a way to load it. If i went to play game, not in franchise mode, when you click on offensive playbook it auto checks the memory card and it comes up. In franchise mode it doesn't check the memory card and i can't find a way to use the playbook. I figured there had to be a way to get the playbook to work, that would seem pretty dumb of EA if you couldn't use a created playbook at all in franchise mode. Please any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
And is way too easy. Make sure you are down by 4 points on the last drive.

As a coach myself at my sons high school custom playbooks are essetnial to any young coaches trying to draw up plays. Madden must add this feature but must make realistic formations to keep the playbooks realistic.

You r right I would like to make three way option with the fb, hb, qb and others.for ex you have vc at qb and bush in the back field. you can fake him , keep it, give it to him, or pass it.
it does suck that we can't use the custom playbooks but all you have to do is find a playbook you like and learn to master it, plus i mean its not like its hard to beat destroy in franchise mode playbook or not
