Well, with the release of this year's Madden I thought I'd start up a new franchise. Don't have to worry quite as much about progressing my backup as Rodgers is somewhat decent and with a training camp or two will be just fine once Favre retires (which I have a feeling is after the first season this year). Gone is the SOLID o-line, but I am confident we can fair just as well. I will be playing All-Pro (no sliders to start) and adjust as I go. I've already played the first two games before deciding to do this so I don't have the stats for the first one (unless I do a little math). I will have those games up in a minute...stay tuned.
Receiving
B. Franks - 1 rec, 32 yds
D. Driver - 1 rec, 25 yds
J. Walker - 1 rec, 9 yds
A. Green - 1 rec, 7 yds
R. Ferguson - 1 rec, 7 yds
T. Murphy - 1 rec, 5 yds
Defense
A. Caroll - 1INT, 1TD
A. Harris - 1INT
M. Roman - 1INT
*31 Rushing Yards*
*119 Passing Yards*
Comments:
A decent game to start the season, parts of our game struggled but players came up with big plays when needed to give us the win. Hopefully we can end the season here in Detroit as well.
Rushing
A. Green (23 att, 104 yds, 2TD)
T. Fisher (3 att, 12 yds, 2 FUM)
Receiving
T. Murphy (3 rec, 73 yds, 1TD)
D. Driver (2 rec, 22 yds)
J. Walker (2 rec, 28 yds)
A. Green (2 rec, 34 yds)
T. Fisher (2 rec, 12 yds)
B. Steele (1 rec, 36 yds, 1TD)
R. Ferguson (1 rec, 13 yds)
B. Franks (1 rec, 15 yds)
Defense
A. Harris (1 INT, 1 TD)
G. Jackson (2 sacks)
N. Diggs (4 TFL)
* 30 yards rushing*
*160 yards passing*
Comments:
Another slow start saw us temporarily down in this game and struggling to get anything going. Inspired by Harris' INT for a touchdown late in the first quarter and a big 3 and out late in the half saw us come alive and take a two touchdown lead into the break. Big plays by some of our newer receivers kept us going in the second half and Green was able to chug us down the field and eat up the clock as time wore on.
Fisher had a bit of trouble holding onto the ball late in the game, but fortunately we were able to recover the one fumble and score a couple plays later. Had we lost it, this game could have had a much more exciting finish.
*NOTE: I will be moving their offense's passing and running abilities up one and my defenses down one for next game*

Comments:
Once again our defense played outstanding. Two interceptions for touchdowns gave us the lead and our offense was able to roll from there. Rookie WR, Terrence Murphy has really impressed us in the past couple games hauling in yet another touchdown pass.
*NOTE: I moved the running abilities on offense and defense one in favour of them (on both sides of the ball). i.e. 1 rushing ability and block against me, and 1 against me for tackling and break block. Will probably make further changes for next game. Am also considering All-Madden.

LOL yeah I was going to say it looks like a switch to All Madden is needed. Unless you are into going undefeated and winning every game by 20+ points.
Cash, Tigam and I just finished our Divisional playoff game. We are playing on All Madden. Next up is the Eagles in the NFC championship game. They beat us, no stomped us, both times durring the regular season. We made the playoffs as a wild card with a 10-6 record.
We always have the #1 rush D and this year is no different. Most teams are lucky to get over 30 yards on us. But this year Steven Jackson put up some good #s on us in the Regular season and in the Wild Card game.
On a side note Green Bay was 13-0 until they lost thier first game. They were 15-1 going into the palyoff. We beat them in the Divisional Game to advance to the NFC Championship.

I have decided to switch to All-Madden for my next game after a practice game that went pretty well (lost but it was so turnover filled it wasn't even funny...at least 3 fumbles a piece plus a couple INTs). Coincidentally, my next game is against the same team (Carolina) that I started playing against in All-Madden last year (last year, I made a new franchise and they were the first on the sched)...I eventually gave up on that when every second run by them was a touchdown, but this year I feel confident in my defense. (have always been good stopping the run, but this year both my run and pass defenses have improved). Well, updates to come tonight probably.

*129 yards passing*
Comments:
Big plays by Carolina on both offense and defense early put us in a big hole and forced us to pass for most of the game. We struggled with 4 turnovers while forcing none of our own and the game quickly turned into a blowout. We did a decent job of stopping Delhomme, but Davis ran all over us.
*NOTE: I have made the switch to All-Madden and like Carolina did so many times in last year's version, they walked all over me. I felt some improvement at least on the defensive side of the ball as time went on, but I still could only watch as their defense made ridiculous interceptions (maybe not quite as ridiculous as I think, but they always seem to be there when I thought my guy was open). Sorry for the delay on this game but I was away for a day or two and didn't have a chance to record the stats right away. I am not sure whether I changed the sliders before or after the game, but when I recorded the stats and looked at the sliders they were +1 for all my offense and defense, and -1 for all their's (-2 for WR, and the two RB ones).
Comments:
This was a much better showing than the previous week. Hats off to Harris with his 3 interceptions and our rushing game who compiled 275 yards. Other than the 86 yard pass at the end of the game that we're still trying to figure out how Bouman completed, our defense played very well...we are still trying to figure out how to fix our passing game, but with a running game like that we have a bit of time.
*NOTE: Still on all-madden, the sliders were -1 for all of theirs (and -2 for interceptions/knockdowns) and +1 for all of mine. It was much easier slowly running out the clock as opposed to panicing and being forced to pass. I am still having trouble with INTs (both plays my guy was wide open then for some reason Favre underthrew them and it was picked off) if anyone has any suggestions on how to improve my passing game, it would be greatly appreciated.

Comments:
This was a defensive game in which we used ball control and a great showing by Longwell to pick up a key divisional win. Our passing problems continued, but the interceptions this week were more incredible plays by there defense than misreads by Favre and our offense. Hopefully we can continue to play well next week versus the 5-2 Bengals.
*NOTE: Altered the sliders a bit. +1 for all my offense/defense categories (+3 for pass block and QB accuracy) and they were -1 for offense/defense categories.

need to still make it alittle harder to run? or is that just me? Good game and way to overcome those 2 INT"s with Green's running. Whats your current record?

I turned the awareness of their defense back up to -1 between those last two games and that seemed to help them stop the run. This time around it was more of a grind with the occasional big run, rather than constant big gains and success.
And I am currently 5-1.
