I recently started a fantasy draft franchise with the New York Jets, and I have decided to make a thread out of it to share it with you guys. I guess I should start off with my roster. You may notice that some of the players aren't at their natural positions, and that's because I like to play with the positions and stuff ever since switching Galloway to CB in the Sim League. So here is the 2005 New York Jets roster...
Jets Roster
QB: Tom Brady - 98
HB: Juilius Jones - 86
FB: Patrick Pass - 75
WR1: Marshall Faulk - 90
WR2: Donte Stallworth - 82
WR3: Kelly Campbell - 80

K: John Hall - 85
P: Bill LaFleur - 73
KR: Philip Buchanon - 99
PR: Kelly Campbell - 98
My first round pick was Tom Brady...going into the draft, I did not intend to pick a QB with my first pick. I was going to spend my first four picks on OTs and DEs, because I am a firm believer that games are won and lost in the trenches. Well, my 12th overall pick came around and Brady was still on the board, so I went with it. My two targets, Johnathan Ogden and Julius Peppers had already been selected, so Brady was too good to pass up. My second and third round picks went toward the offensive line (Glenn in the second and Smith in the third).
Probably the biggest position change on the team was Faulk, from HB to WR. I wanted a speed WR with my fourth round pick, but there were no good ones left. So I decided to draft Faulk and switch him to WR. You also might have noticed that all four of my starting defensive lineman are defensive tackles. In Madden, DEs with higher strength tend to be better than DEs with high speed, so with that in mind, I drafted for strength. Kevin Williams and Vince Wilfork both made the switch from DT to DE. I drafted MLB Napolean Harris and moved him to the outside. His 83 speed should allow for a smooth transition. CB Tory James made the switch from CB to FS, and gained 5 points on his OVR. I figured with his 88 speed, he wouldn't be able to keep up with most of the top WRs, and would be better off just floating around in zone coverage.
My games will all be simmed, much like the Sim League...I also have a franchise in which I play the games, but simming them makes you feel like the manager, and that's fun sometimes too. The quarters will be 7 minutes long, and I will be using my own AI sliders. I usually don't mess with the sliders, so it may take some time for me to get them right.
The preseason has already been simmed, and I went 1-2-1. Not too happy about that, but on the bright side, its all practice. I skipped training camp, because in my opinion that gives you an unfair advantage over the CPU teams.
Only one injury...Julius Jones and his sprained wrist. Not to worry, it will only keep him out for one game. Dorsey Levens (78) will start in his place.
Well, the season is just about ready to begin. Actually, I have already done the first game, and results will be posted shortly...
Cincinatti Bengals
QB: Brian Griese - 85

TE: Dallas Clark - 86
LT: Kevin Shaffer - 81

KR/PR: B.J. Sams - 96
The Bengals in a nutshell: Weak offense, helluva defense. They must have spent their first 6 or so picks on defense. On paper, this should have been a very low scoring game, and it was, until a 4th quarter explosion...

Great game for Brady and Campbell! Brady with 400+ yards, Campbell with 200+. Would have liked more production out of the rushing game, but with JJ out, I couldn't expect much. The D was decent, but I want more out of them next game. No turnovers and only one sack...two stats that MUST be improved upon.
WOW, what a fourth quarter! 35 total points scored...5 plays of 40+ yards, including 4 that went more than 50 yards. It was a real shootout...luckily, my Jets came out on top.
Lots of big plays...I think I have to turn tackling up in the sliders, and maybe awareness too. And turn QB accuracy down, way down. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know.
Sorry guys, not gonna do a full press conference or anything. School is pretty hectic right now with finals coming up and stuff, but I will have more time in the summer, especially when the Sim League takes its "break".
Tune in next week when the Jets travel to San Diego to take on the Chargers...

Scouting Report: The Chargers are destined to be near the bottom of the league, I think. Terrible passing game...the young QB Palmer will throw many INTs, and having no WRs above 80 OVR is going to hurt badly. Tiki Barber has potential at HB, but without much of an offensive line, I can't see him doing much. The D looks pretty good, but its nothing special. I made Donte Stallworth my 3rd WR for this game to exploit Ken Irvin, who only has 88 SPD (against Stallworth's 97 SPD). Should be another big game for Brady, and I think I will win this one easily.
I will sim the game tonight, results will be posted tommorow.
Pretty Good Little thread you have going on here...I like it...Good win in the first game..and i hope you crush em in the second game! ..and omg...just saw you beat me in OT!? what it was 16-6 almost in the forth when i left...man o man...

LOL Thanks. You missed one helluva game man, it went to overtime. I don't know how I won that game! You should have been there, it was pretty intense...
on his own game....but they were then talking about the league....
still talking about the league ... keep the momentum up short! take down those colts!
back to your thread...looks like a good un. you have a nice team, and brady ripped it up. i hope you slaughter the chargers. good thread.

Offensive Game Ball: WR Kelly Campbell Defensive Game Ball: CB Philip Buchanon
We were down the whole game until the 3rd quarter, they really had me worried about an upset. But they caught fire in the third quarter. Down by a FG, we scored 27 unanswered points...we are an explosive team, and you never know when we're going to step it up. The final score was 48-24, with the Jets getting the win.
Pretty sloppy game out there, 8 total INTs...6 of them by Carson Palmer. Nice job by the defense with that, Buchanon had two of them and 4 others had one. We really need to start generating some sacks, one sack is pretty pathetic. I guess Palmer was just rushing his throws, hence the 6 INTs. The rushing defense did very well, limiting Barber to under 80 yards even with his 30+ carries. Two defensive TDs, one by Buchanon and one by nickelback Jerry Azumah. They gave up 17 points (one TD was by their defense), which is pretty good but this team has a dismal offense.
The offense carried the momentum from last week into this game. Brady's performance was no where near last week's, but you can't expect that every week. 301 yards and 2 TDs is fine by me...I don't like the 2 INTs, but when the opposing QB throws 6, it doesn't seem so bad. Jones is a rookie, so we don't want to throw him into the fire too quickly. We only gave him 13 carries, and he got 45 yards with it...2 TDs, also. I'm happy with that. The real standout on offense for the second week in a row was Kelly Campbell, who caught 5 passes for 106 yards including a 73 yard TD catch. That puts his 2 week total at 330 yards and 3 TDs, very nice.
I still have some work to do on the sliders...I don't care how bad or how young a QB is, he shouldn't be throwing 6 INTs. I may have went a little too far down on the pass acurracy, both QBs percentages were low. The running games should be better, so I will boost the RB Ability and Run Blocking sliders a little bit.
That's it for now...we have a bye in week 3, so tune in for week 4 when we travel to Miami to take on the Dolphins. I'll have a preview up in a little while, and the game will be simmed later...
The floor is now open for questions and comments...
I like this thread, even though it is the Jets. Like what you've done with the layout too. I have a recommendation for a speedy WR. You being a Jets fan, how about Jonathan Carter? He's gotta 96 speed. I have him 3rd in my depth chart and he's blowing things up for me. Just a suggestion.
Looked like in your first game, Alonzo Jackson was everywhere, but seemed as though he was on the bench against the Chargers. Good luck with your franchise!! I'll be reading it.
Nice thread ya got going short, keep us updated man. Gl against the Phins, and nice wins even though you may have been a little bit sloppy in the first two weeks. The format looks great.
look slike picking Brady with the 12th pick in the 1st was a good move since he been putitng up yards. Hopefully my Fins give you more of a game. Nice draft layout. I usually go all defense but that because I play the game, being that you're simming it then a QB was a good choice to start it off.

Thanks for the comments guys. Swoosh, WR isn't really a concern for me right now, I have no shortage of speed WRs. But if one of them goes down, I know who I'll be trading for...Carter is a beast for your team in your franchise.

FS: Brian Dawkins - 98

Scouting Report: The Dolphins are another team who seem to have gotten the short end of the stick in drafting. The offense is even weaker than that of the Chargers. Bettis may be able to hurt me if I'm not careful. The defense has some stars here and there, but most of them are mediocre. They have a strong pass defense, with Surtain, Clements, Dawkins, and Chavous. The run defense might be a weakness, if Al Wilson can be avoided. WR Andre Davis (79) is injured, and he might have been able to hurt me with his speed...he was the #1 WR on the depth chart.
My Strategy: The running game will be utilized more this week. I just don't feel confident passing too much with those guys in the secondary. I'm hoping Jones is ready to carry the load for the offense. On defense, we will focus on the run more than the pass, because I don't see Quincy Carter and the slow receivers that the Phins have as a major threat to my team. Hope that doesn't burn me...
Game will be simmed tonight, results posted tommorow...
Almost forgot...thanks for pointing out Alonzo Jackson's freak performance. It's a mistake...it should read 2-0-0-0, not 2-2-2-2...
Also...being that I have a bye Week 3, I forgot to sim week 3 before doing my preview. During Week 3, CB Nate Clements suffered an injury (yess!). The Phins depth chart now looks like this...
CB1: Patrick Surtain - 96
CB2: Otis Smith - 75 (*PROBABLE)
CB3: Jason David - 80
This is a big boost for me, and I may pass more now...but Julius will still get more carries than in previous weeks.
BTW, Carter can return kicks too...(i got him in my franchise cos i had to get a 4th WR after trading boldin for Urlacher...Also, TEs make very good WRs...if you have a good one...im using shockey as my No 3 cos he is 88 ovr..crumpler is a 79 so i have him as 5th, and obviously LT who is 90 i have as 4th.) But seriously tho, nice thread...in depth.

Thanks for the advice titans, but my kick returner is Philip Buchanon (99 OVR)...and if he gets hurt, Kelly Campbell is a 98 OVR. And about the TEs making good WRs, Todd Heap is the 4th WR in my depth chart. He's a beast in the red zone, something my team in the sim league is lacking.
Anyway, here are the results from Week 4...

Changed the format a little bit this week...just makes it a little easier for me. Also, the receivers on my team are listed by where they are on the depth chart, not how many catches they had. And I didn't do all the defensive players, just the ones with at least 5 tackles or another stat besides tackles.
We creamed them this week...led by as much as 28 before they started a mini comeback late in the 4th quarter. Fortunately for us, the 2 TDs they scored in the 4th could barely dent our lead, and we went on to win 31-17.
The offense wasn't bad, but they have been steadily declining each week. 3 TDs is enough, but we could do better than 330+ yards. Brady was efficient, completing over 60% of his passes. I told the offense to run more, but I guess they didn't feel like it. Jones only got 12 carries, and was efficient...I will try even harder to get him more involved next week.
Defense was great...only allowed 3 points through 3 quarters, I couldn't ask for more. Stumbled a little bit in the 4th quarter, but that's okay considering what they did in the first 3. Forced 4 turnovers, all INTs thrown by Quincy Carter. Samuel had 2, great game for him. Buchanon returned his INT for a TD...I love it when the D scored points. Nick Barnett also had an INT. We forced two fumbles, but were unable to recover either one of them. Great day overall for them...granted the Phins offense is nothing to be afraid of, but we manhandled them nontheless.
I don't plan to adjust the AI sliders too much this weak...maybe a notch or two down on INTs, but Brady only threw one, so they can't be that off. Running sliders were better this week...Bettis was terrible, but I think thats because my D is good...Jones was great.
Next week, we take on the Bills at home in a game for the divisional lead. Buffalo looks like it will be my main competition for the division crown...we're both 3-0. I'll have a preview up soon, so stay tuned...

Scouting Report: Ahh...so thats where all the good WRs went. WOW! Moss, Holt, and Jimmy Smith...what a headache! Suprisingly, they have only been able to rack up just over 200 passing yards per game. Maybe its the weak offensive line? That hasn't stopped the Whizzinator...Onterrio has been pretty good so far this season, over 4 YPC. Their defense seems suspect, but they've played very well, only allowing 12 PPG. If they can play the way they've been playing, I'll be in trouble...but something tells me they aren't as good as they've played thus far this season.
My Strategy: Sorry, JJ...you won't be getting many carries, again. I think I'll be able to exploit the pass defense, no one in the secondary is above an 85 OVR. To take advantage of speed mismatches, my WR depth chart will look like this for the week...
WR1: Donte Stallworth
WR2: Marshall Faulk
WR3: Kelly Campbell
Expect a shootout, they have an offense that has the potential to be explosive. I will be putting all of my defensive focus toward stopping the pass. I hope Onterrio doesn't make me pay for it, but my run D has been spectacular so far. Also, I can't let them get anywhere near FG range...Janakowski can hit them from 50+, easy.
The game will be simmed tonight, I might be able to get the results up by tonight but most likely tommorow...

PLAYER STATISTICS Passing New York

Offensive Game Ball: Tom Brady Defensive Game Ball: Jerry Azumah
Seems like we like to come back from behind, we were down by 3 at the half, and were losing by as much as 10. 4th quarter started with a bang, with us scoring 14 unanswered points to take a 27-16 lead. They scored a meaningless TD as time expired, just padding their stats.
The offense...still on the decline. Buffalo's defense is better than their ratings indicate...they we're all over JJ, wouldn't let him breathe. Brady only threw for 235 yards, subpar by his standards, but acceptable for most other QBs. No standouts at WR this week, Faulk led the pack with 5 catches for 86 yards. Donte Stallworth had the lone receiving TD. The offensive line turned in a poor performance...they allowed 3 sacks, and couldn't open up any holes for JJ. They need to step it up, they are the key to our offense...
Lots of passing yards given up, but what do you expect when Randy Moss, Torry Holt, and Jimmy Smith take the field at the same time? Holt burned Asante Samuel all day...I understand it was a bit of a mismatch, but 170 yards is unacceptable. I'm proud of Buchanon and Azumah though. If Buchanon can hang with Moss, he can play with anyone, so that's a good sign. And Azumah did a great job for a nickel back, limiting future hall of famer Jimmy Smith to just over 50 yards. We were effective against the run once again, and forced Onterrio to fumble twice. No sacks though, and that's alarming...pressure on the QB is absolutely essential when the passing game is as explosive as it is in Buffalo. Luckily, we escaped with a win anyway.
The running backs still aren't doing anything...Run Blocking and Running Back Ability sliders will be boosted. Maybe a notch down on Defensive Awareness and Tackling. Passing related sliders look good for now, so no changes there. Field goals seem a bit easy, I'm gonna turn down the FG length sliders.
Before I sim the next week, I'm gonna do a Trimester 1 report. This will include Week 5 Progressions, league standings, and stats for my team. Plus, with the trade deadline looming, you can expect me to strike a deal or two before hand. And of course, there will be a preview before the game.
If you're reading this, PLEASE just post something so I know I'm not talking to a wall. Even if its just an "I'm reading" or something...I want to know that I'm not doing this for nothing. To the people that have been reading, thanks a bunch, and keep on reading!
Tom Brady and Kelly Campbell have been beasts on offense, they're leading the team. When looking at JJs stats, keep in mind that he missed the first game...but even so, a 3.0 YPC is pretty bad. I'm disappointed in Marshall Faulk, he's supposed to be my #1 WR, but he's playing like a #3.
Kevin Williams, Nick Barnett, Napoleon Harris, and Philip Buchanon are leading the D. Williams has 5 of our 6 team sacks. Barnett and Harris have similar stats, and both are excelling. Suggs was hurt for a game, and if he had played he'd probably be leading the team in tackles. Buchanon only has 10 tackles, but that's because he doesn't even allow his receivers to catch the ball...great playing by him. Samuel comes up with some big plays, but he gives up some big plays as well. Azumah could be a #2 CB on most teams. James has made a smooth transition from CB to FS, although his INT drought is a bit alarming. I need more tackles out of Parrish, he's a great defensive player and he needs to start dominating like I know he can.
Week 5 Progressions
QB Tom Brady - 99 (+1)
FB Patrick Pass - 78 (+3)
WR Kelly Campbell - 83 (+3)
WR Donte Stallworth - 83 (+1)
RE Vince Wilfork - 88 (+1)
MLB Nick Barnett - 88 (+2)
CB Philip Buchanon - 88 (+2)
CB Jerry Azumah - 84 (+3)
K John Hall - 86 (+1)
A little disappointed with progressions, felt they should be more with a 4-0 team...but then again, this is the shortest trimester for my team. They have played only 4 games up to the week 5 progressions, but they will play 6 between now and the week 11 progressions, and 6 more between then and the week 17 progressions. So for a 4 game span, its not really that bad. I didn't expect JJ to progress with his lack of carries, but I need to develop a good RB so he will be seeing more action. I also thought I would see more progression on the defensive side, but I guess not...
Jets Strike Two Deals at the Deadline
Early this morning, it was the New York Jets announced two trades just hours before the deadline. The reported trades are as follows...
Trade 1 Jets Give:
HB Marshall Faulk - 90
LG: Jacob Bell - 82
Jets 2nd Round 2005
I got a steal on this one, in my opinion. I switched Faulk to HB because that's what the Falcons wanted him as, and I got more value for him as an HB than a WR. Santana will be more than adaquate as a replacement, having 5 more speed points and being 7 or so years younger than Faulk. Chris Samuels will beef up my offensive line a little bit, I felt they needed help. Jones wasn't getting the yardage I had hoped, and they were sacking Brady too much. I had to take a downgrade on my picks for the upcoming draft, but it seems well worth it. Faulk just wasn't performing like I had hoped, and speed receivers seemed to be doing the trick, so I added one of the best in the game. Losing Bell isn't a big blow, because he will be replaced in the next trade...
This trade was based solely on need, they may have even gotten the better of the deal. After Samuel let Torry Holt burn him for 170 yards, I decided he wasn't good enough for the team. Besides, Jerry Azumah has been playing great at nickel back, and he deserves a shot at starting. Azumah is moved up in the depth chart, and Fisher will be my new nickel back. He's only 24, and can be another great young addition to my team. RG Shane Olivea had also been underperforming, and had given up the most sacks out of anyone on my OLine. Yes, he's only a rookie, but I want to win now and I can win now, so I opted for an upgrade at RG. Plus I got a 5th round pick out of it.
Due to these trades, my depth charts have been updated accordingly, with RED indicating a change...
LT: Tarik Glenn - 94
LG: Marvel Smith - 92
C: Justin Hartwig - 85
RG: Jeff Hartings - 89
RT: Chris Samuels - 93
My previous RT, Marvel Smith, was moved to LG to fill the hole and to make room for Samuels.
I expect my offense to be even better now. After declining each week since the very first game, these moves should provide a spike in the offensive performance. The new and improved line is not only skilled but more experienced, after getting rid on the two rookies that were the main culprits in letting up sacks. The line should also open up more holes for JJ to run through.
Whew, glad all that is done...it took me a while. Please respond to this...preview for Week 6 against the 49ers will be up tommorow...
Like your team, but not sure about Asanti trade. You might have trouble in your pass D. Do you keep Donte at 3 regardless or do you sub him into #2 on I Forms and formations with only 2 WR? I like him over Cambell by far.
Great to see your 4-0. Think I'm about to try a sim league myself where I dont' play because that's too easy to do.

Hmm...I have to hope you're wrong about the pass D, but only time will tell.
And as of right now, Campbell is the 2nd WR in the depth chart, every formation. To start the season, I had Stallworth there, but Campbell has earned a starting job by leading the team in receiving yards. He's also progressing faster, and now they are both rated 83 OVR.
Sorry about the delay guys...things are really hectic with school and work, I just haven't found time to do this. I've already simmed the next two weeks...I'm putting up Week 6 now, Week 7 results will be up sometime today, hopefully.

One key injury for the Niners...no, Cowboys fans, Emmitt is not normally their starter...Steven Jackson is, but an abdominal tear will keep him out of this one. Stupid drafting here...they wasted a high pick on a backup QB, Jake Plummer (87), a definite disadvantage. They look pretty weak on paper...but their winning record tells me otherwise. The WRs are all pretty fast and dangerous...Buchanon will cover Bethel Johnson. We will heavily favor the pass on defense, because Emmitt doesn't appear to be too much of a threat, even behind an above average offensive line. Their CBs are decent, so I think I would rather run the ball...this is the week for JJ to step up.
As stated before, the game has already been simmed...results will be up ASAP...

Well, what do you know, another comeback win! After shutting them out for the first quarter, we gave up 14 straight points to begin the 2nd...but we charged back with a TD and a FG of our own. They got a FG at the end of the half, but it was our ball to start the second half. Down by a TD at the half, we really stepped up our game in the second quarter. We shut them out, and scored 10 points of our own...enough to steal a W.

262 total yards for the offense is alarming, they aren't performing up to their potential. And San Fran's D isn't even good. Brady throws for less than 200 yards for the first time this season, but we only let him throw 13 times. We gave JJ a lot of carries today, and he did okay...he wasn't a star, but his performance was satisfactory. Moss caught a TD in his first game as a Jet this season.
Napoleon Harris was a beast on defense today, 10+ tackles and an INT. Only one sack, and that was by DT Shaun Rogers. I would like to see more sacks, but hey, we only gave up 17 points so I'm not gonna try and fix what's not broken. 3 INTs on the day, I'm happy with that.
Tune in next week as the Jets take on the division rival and defending champion New England Patriots...
Good game man. Your young LB's are doing real well eepecially Harris.
Guess I was wrong about your pass D. AAlthough Plummer isn't agreat QB you allowed some yards but got 3 INT's and turnovers win or lose games
Yeah, I guess its too soon to tell, but the pass D was great that game. And it was Pennington, not Plummer...Plummer is the backup on that team...

Wowzers, quite a pass defense they have there. In fact, the defense is loaded with stars such as Takeo Spikes, Champ Bailey, Samari Rolle, and John Lynch. The run defense looks tough too, with a strong set of LBs and two huge DTs clogging the middle. But I'm not stupid, and I'm not going to pass much with Champ and Samari on the field...JJ will have to carry the load again this week. There offense isn't that bad. Thomas Jones doesn't scare me, not behind that offensive line, but Bulger is a bit intimidating. Wayne Cherbet isn't much of a #1 WR, the two guys behind him worry me more.

It was closer than it looks. Winning 17-0 at the half, we let them back in it in the second half. They had scored 10 of their own and shut me out, and were marching down the field, threatening to tie the game. They were at the 35 yard line when Bulger launched a 10 yard pass...picked off by Phillip Buchanon who returned it 74 yards for the clutch TD.

Through 6 games, the Jets have yet to lose a game and stand at 6-0. Pretty impressive game today...
I am not disappointed in Tom Brady's performance, despite his failure to throw for 100 yards. He only threw the ball 14 times, and was very efficient...he even added a TD. Not to mention, he was passing against a secondary in which all the starters were 91+, including Champ Bailey (99) and Samari Rolle (93). Julius Jones stepped up when we needed him to, passing the 100 yard mark for the first time in his career. Congrats to him.
We let Bulger throw for 350 yards, but that is expected if he's throwing the ball 48 times. We picked him off twice, both by Buchanon, including a clutch INT with a minute remaining in the 4th that he returned to give us a 2 TD lead. We limited Thomas Jones on the ground, nice job by the rushing D. Tory James and Nick Barnett anchored the rushing D, and Napoleon Harris added 5 tackles. We forced 4 fumbles, one by Wilfork, one by Rogers, one for Parella, and one by backup FS Rashad Baker. With all those turnovers, I'd expect more points, but hey, we won didn't we? I believe the turnovers are the single biggest factor in our thus far undefeated season, they have been great in that area. So great that we are +11, best in the league.

Last game against the Phins, we dominated, leading 31-3 until the D got lazy in the 4th quarter...the final score was 31-17. They tried to run it against me, but I was ready for it. I expect the same this week, and I don't see myself having any problems stopping Bettis. Quincy Carter is more suited for a backup role, I won't fret over him too much.
On offense, Julius Jones will again see much of the load this week. Last time we played the Phins, Jones boasted a strong 5.7 YPC average, and I figure if I give him the ball more this time he'll do damage. I don't expect 5.7, but definitely 4.0+. Brady will throw more than last week, but not too much as the Miami pass D is very strong.
Game is underway, results will most likely be posted tommorow...maybe tonight...
1st Quarter MIA TD---Jabar Gaffney 71 yard pass from Quincy Carter (0-7)
NYJ FG---John Hall 37 yards (3-7) MIA TD---Jerome Bettis 79 yard run (3-14)
2nd Quarter

MIA FG---Aaron Elling 32 yards (10-20) NYJ TD---Devery Henderson 51 yard pass from Tom Brady (17-20)
Halftime Score: NYJ 17, MIA 20
I have to admit, I was pretty nervous after they went up 17-3. Jerome Bettis has been beastly, he already has 100+. And Quincy Carter? Why is he throwing the ball all over me?? Clutch play to end the half by Brady and Co. as he launched one downfield with 20 seconds left, complete to speedy rookie Devery Henderson for a 51 yard TD that kept us in the game. Moving on...
3rd Quarter
NYJ FG---John Hall 34 yards (20-20) NYJ TD---Julius Jones 68 yard run (27-20)
4th Quarter MIA TD---Jabar Gaffney 5 yard pass from Quincy Carter (27-27)
NYJ FG---John Hall 49 yards *AS TIME EXPIRED* (30-27)
***Final Score: NYJ 30, MIA 27***
Quite a thriller, to say the least. We looked terrible early on, letting them kill us with 2 70+ yard TDs in the first quarter alone. After the first, we were losing 14-3...17-3 by the middle of the second...to a 1-6 TEAM! We can beat the undefeated teams, but Quincy and the Phins are giving us trouble? Hmm...Well, anyway, we bounced back in the second quarter, scoring 2 TDs, including a huge TD connection between Tom Brady and Devery Henderson with very little time remaining in the half. Down 3 in the 3rd quarter, we charged ahead to steal the lead...we led comfortably by a TD going into the fourth. But, that lead disappeared pretty quickly as Quincy drove them down the field and into the end zone early on in the quarter. We had a chance to take it, with about 2 minutes remaining in the game...52 yard kick by John hall...SHORT! Well, they got the ball back, we stopped them juuust before FG range, and the rest is history. We drove down the field, called a TO with just 1 second remaining and gave Hall another shot. This time, from 49 yards, he didn't miss. Jets win.

Nice day for the offense, efficient and they got a lot of yards. We gave Brady a few more opportunities than last week and he absolutely shined. I gave the game ball to JJ, though, for his near 150 yard effort. Added a TD as well, great game overall for the rookie. Receiving corps was led by Todd Heap today, he did a nice job stepping it up. Kelly Campbell's recent lack of production concerns me...I think Stallworth has earned the #2 spot back, for now at least.
Defense looked really sluggish out there today. With the exception of Nick Barnett and Kevin Williams, and maybe John Parrella, I can't say I am satisfied with anyone's performance on that side of the field. Barnett was the only one to reach double digits in tackles, and he had the only INT of the day as well...A clear choice for the defensive game ball. Williams and Parrella both had sacks. Jerry Azumah got torched by Jabar Gaffney for 160 yards and 2 TDs...I am seriously praying that was a fluke, because another performance like that will have him riding the bench. The other CBs weren't bad, but this is Quincy Carter, not Dan Marino.
Sliders...DOWN on pass accuracy. 76.9% CMP PCT is godly, even for Brady. and 65%+ for Quincy Carter? Puhlease. Maybe up a notch or two on defensive awareness and break block. That's pretty much it, though.
Thank you for reading, and join me next week when the Jets go to Buffalo to play the in-state/divisional rival Bills. Preview will be up tommorow most likely, and the game results as well...

P.S.: Feel free to point out any mistakes, I copied and pasted from the previos Jets-Phins game in Week 4 I think...any errors, let me know. Thanks.
I expected the NE to be alittle tougher. You said it was tougher than it looked but it felt to easy. Didn't except Julius to do so well with Marcus Wahington and Takeo SPike running out there in the LB corps.
Great comeback against the Fins. When i saw the 1st few score i thought they had you but your team came through in the clutch. Kudos.

Last game at Buffalo, I escaped with a 27-24 win. Since then, they've gone 1-2 and aren't looking too good, but the triple threat at WR is always dangerous. As with last time, almost all of my defensive effort will be going to stop the pass, especially after Brees progressed. Asante Samuel, who was burned by Torry Holt last game for 170 yards and 2 TDs, is no longer on the team. Instead, Jerry Azumah will matchup against Holt...I can only hope this matchup turns out better than the last. Buchanon shut down Moss last game, and I expect him to do the same this game. I know that's a lot to expect, but Buchanon has played like an elite CB this year, and elite CBs have to be able to hang with the best.
Offensively, we'll look to be two dimensional. Brady will see his share of throws, and JJ will see his fair share of carries. I see no specific weaknesses in the Buffalo D, just pretty weak all around.
Expected a shootout...guess not. I'm impressed with myself so far, limiting a team of Drew Brees, Randy Moss, Torry Holt, and Jimmy Williams to just 3 points. We've been even worse than them on offense, however. Our one TD came on a fumbled punt return returned by some 3rd string DE. It would suck to win that way, but hey, I'll take it any way I can get it. I hope our D holds up, and our O breaks out...

NYJ FG---John Hall 31 yards (13-6) BUF TD---Torry Holt 60 yard pass from Drew Brees *AS TIME EXPIRED* (13-13)
I couldn't believe what I was seeing. John Hall kicked a 31 yard FG to put us up by a full 7 points with just 10 SECONDS REMAINING IN THE GAME! So he decides to squib kick it on the kickoff...not a bad idea if you do it accurately, but just my luck, the kick goes out of bounds. Buffalo ball at the 40. Okay...I got this in the bag...7 seconds left, no way they're going to score. Wrong. In the blink of an eye, the ball is out of Brees' hands and into Holt's. Touchdown. Tie game. Time for overtime...
Wow...we got the ball first. We drove the ball pretty well, mostly running by JJ, but the drive stalled at about the 50. We punt it away, and no, the fumble didn't happen on the punt return. The very next play...handoff to Onterrio "Whizzinator" Smith...FUMBLE! Scooped up by Barnett...the 20, the 10, the 5...TOUCHDOWN! Jets Win!

Offensive Game Ball: Santana Moss Defensive Game Ball: Nick Barnett
It was a defensive struggle for both teams, which was highly unexpected. Drew Brees won the battle of the quarterbacks, throwing for 50+ more yards than Brady, 1 more TD, and 1 less INT. JJ outran the Whizz, but 32 carries should be enough for 125+ yards, easy. 80 yards with that many carries isn't enough, even if he was great in short yardage situations like he was today. No offensive touchdowns, we sucked offensively today.
Defensively we were great. Drew Brees threw for 250 yards, but look who he's throwing to. Its damn near impossible to stop a guy with weapons like that, so I think we did all we could and I am satisfied with the result. I would have liked to see an INT or two, but our D had hands of stone today. Great job stopping Onterrio, even though much of our practice time this week was devoted to preparing for Brees and the passing game. 3 FFs, including the game winner by Nick Barnett. Onterrio lost another one, and one was a cheesy one on a punt return.
Cheap win today, off a fumbled punt. But hey, it happens, and all that matters is the W in the book that moves us closer to the playoffs. We'll take em anyway we can get them, even if I'm not completely satisfied with the way we played today...especially the offense. A win is a win is a win.
Join us next week when the Ravens fly in from Baltimore to try and hand us our first loss of the season. Preview will be up tonight/tommorow...
Thank you to those who have given me feedback, I really appreciate it.
do you actually watch the simmed games like a real gm or do you just sim and look at box score?
(Tigam)-- We watch them or listened to them real time... Once we figured out how to do both ( Brilliantly I might add, Kudo's to Cash ) some things came up and put the league on hold... For now...

If you're talking about the SimLeague for this site, then Tigam answered your question. If you're asking what I do in my franchise, I also watch the games as they are being simmed. My franchise has been put on hold though, only two more damn days of finals...
