I have had a problem here lately with beating press coverage or bump n run coverage. I like to throw alot of slants, mix in a deep ball or two, and use the drag rout against the zone. However, I played a series with a friend last night and he used Miami, which is a tough matchup for me when Playing with Atlanta. My recievers could not get off the line, and when I tried rolling out to give me some time, Jason Taylor just Murdered Micheal Vick... .... Does anyone have a gameplan to beat Miami's great CB's of Surtain and Madison....its driving me crazy..
All I can suggest are several short routes (curls, hitches, and outs) to make them a bit more humble. Mixing in a succesful running game is essential too and from there you can utilize play-action and screen passes.
Before snapping the ball read the positioning of the defense. Count the number of Linebackers and down linemen then map out the routes being ran. Watch for any defensive movement and try and project where a defender is going to be at a certain time. Don't fall too far back in the pocket or you are essentially leaving the pocket. Step up if you have to.

Well, most everyone I play usually use Dime and Quarter coverages. I do run the ball, I guess sometimes I get away from it. My problem is I don't like eating clock and I look for to many knock-outs I guess.
Plus, I scored 54 points on him, its just difficult, and I lost the game in the final minute. I just thought there might be an easier way than the way I was beating the press
It seems like quick out routes and curls work best for me. It should work with any quarterback with a decent arm, such as Vick.... especially when they try to press cover, I have some quick receivers with Mary Booker and Dez White, and they usually don't have any trouble getting off the line, and I don't know about ATL's receivers, Ive never really used them.
yeah miami has a tough pass defense, I always use a play called reciever "Z out" where the wide ou7t runs up, then cuts in real fast and then jukews back and hits the out. if you anticipat this pass you can coplete like 90% of the time.
You can only press if you can match up on defense. Show multiple formations and use motion along with properly selected audibles, come out in a pro form and switch to a 3wr formation splitting the TE into the slot, if your opponent is in a 4-3 based man coverage the 3rd Wr will be uncovered. This is what I like to do aginst press coverage...If you are in the eye fromation, bring your WR in motion from the right to the left...if it's man the corner will go with him leaving a clear running area to the outside or off tackle...it could be a big gain if your RB has a little speed/moves
What Diggy said is real good. I use Miami alot but when playign against them i tend to throw alot of short passes to my RB and FB as well. It easy to pick up some good yards with them. IF you rollout with Vick make sure you use the Playmaker option to get your WR's to go were you need them, towards the sideline, towards, you etc, This works if your in trouble or risk being sacked by Taylor. Putting men in motion even if they have a man covergae works becuase you can call hike before they set up so its harder for the CB to jam that particular WR

got to I Form and do the Mid Attack. It has a TE running a slant but if you wait your Fullback couts out then back in. He is almost always open on the cut back in and its a guaranted 7 or 8 yards.
