Ive said this before and i will say it agian. The physics of the game need to be fixed. The strength and weight of a player need to have impact on the field. Ive seen way to many times a little CB (190) with a strength rating of say 60 absolutly crunching a RB who is 240 witha strength rating of 80. In real life if the CB dove like he does in the game with the "hit stick" he would just bounce off of him. The other thing that really pisses me off is when a 350 pound linemen gets his hands on a corner (blocking) and does not toss his *** down imidietly. I mean cmon lets be honset, the cb would be flat on his *** instantly.

The other major thing that need to be fixed is especially in superstar mode is the practice mode. You should be able to work on specific routes as a WR and communicate with the QB on how you want the ball thrown. The same would go for a RB and his linemen and other positions as such.

Sooner or later, they are going to have to fix the physics, or a new company will take over the market (when the exclusive rights runs out)

Try taking down the CPU Tackle slider a few notches.... that might help with your CB tackling the RB problem. Remember to use the sliders... that's what they are there for.

There are alot of good Ideas in here.

I really like the ideas of doing some sort of halftime recap and maybe interviewing the coaches saying what owrked or what they need to do to get better in the second half.

I do think they need to make some sort of performance based contract incentives as well. That is a great idea actually.

Overall they just need to improve the franchise mode, drafting overall and put co-op back in.

Draft drives me nuts when you scout guys and draft them and they are a top five pick and the are only in the seventies then you get a LB in the 5th round that will go in the 80s. I also think that the AI should draft with what is needed over best player on teams. If you need a LB you should draft a WR (lions). Only certain dumb gms do this 8 years in a row.

I also wish they would put in like a end game sportscenter. I know I seen a game that would have highlights of games that were tied or close showing the last couple plays of the game, and I thought that was really cool. Id rather see that put in then some of the HOF or superstar modes, because while those are kind of cool, I really dont have interest in them.

They really need to make the coach matter in the game more than it does. For 99% the coach has nothing to do with the game and some coaches actually have more to do with the game then what madden gives them credit for.

Need to have a more realistic approval/dissaproval fan base and better stadium building techniques. yeah most of what I want improved is with Franchise modes cause thats what im interested in the most.

Yeah.. but he still has a point with the physics... I don't have a problem with a little CB tackling a big RB.. as long as its realistic... the CB should not be laying a big hit on the RB without suffering the repercussions.

I disagree, I play CB for my high school and I've laided out a few big guys. Although it did hurt like hell... But I know what you mean, head on they should definately get run over.

About 150, im only a sophmore. And I realize that HS football doesn't compare to the NFL, but I was merely agreeing with you when I said that a CB should get run over more often, or have to go for the knees.

One thing I really, REALLY want is something during the season other than the very failed and boring newspaper section! It is a waste. I love and I mean LOVE the Sports Illustrated section in the NCAA College Football game. Each week is worth playing just to see if you can make the cover. I especially love the random headlines on the Sports Illustrated because it adds such a veil of realism to the game.

again, GET RID OF THE NEWSPAPER SECTION! Not only is it boring but it often has headlines and story sections that are just boring unreadable filler and its space could be better used on the SI idea.

You can have the All-Pro teams in here, All-Rookie teams, Super Bowl predictions, contract problems, coaching rumors, player rumors, draft info, ect.

I don't really see where your going with this Cash, I agreed with you that a CB shouldn't be laying out big hits on a RB all the time, but it does happen sometimes when they get a good angle. Most of the time the CB will take out their knees instead of tackling them face up.

Just to clerify the point i made earlier because some of you dont seem to understand. I have no problem with a cb tacking a bigger rb or bigger te or whatever. What i have a problem with is the manner in which this is done. If the cb goes for a high tackle relistically he would only manage to knock the opposing player off his path, like they do when you are close to out of bounds. Other than that no way in hell would a smaller player be able to lay out a bigger player who in most cases has more momentum because the cb is sitting and waiting for the runner. Not to even mention the strength difference between most cbs and rbs. This being the case, messing with the ai tackle sliders would acomplish nothing, because the unrealistic tackles would still be made. If you watch the NFL at all you would notice that most tackles are "gang tackles" or in some cases trips and or pull downs (where the smaller player hangs on and pulls the opposing player down) The only time you see a cb lay out someone is when the offensive player does not see the cb and is usually standing still (thus having no momentum), this mostly happens when a wr has just caught the ball and does not see the cb coming.

Boy... STFU already... I've already pointed out that you are just talking to talk...

You said you disagree with me...

What did I say that you disagree with? Are the physics in madden right? In Madden can you take a 190 lb CB and lay out a 270 lb halfback head on? Can you crumple him.. in Madden? The answer is YES.

Can it happen in real life? NO NO NO... nobody said anything about angles.. nobody said a cb can't lay a big hit if he was coming from behind or if you want to be a real moron we could go so far as saying the CB was launched from a cannon and is flying at 100 mph at the RB...

TheOne spelled it out a few posts up... tell me what you disagree with that I said?? If you are going to disagree.. especially with me.. then be ready to state exactly what it is you disagree with and be ready to back it up with something logical.

once again... STFU..

What Madden Really Needs

First off, yes, the actual games need to be more realistic with better gang tackling, smarter AI, etc.

HOWEVER,
for me, I am begging the makers of Madden 2008 to put owner mode back in. That is what I look forward to the most of anything on the game. My brothers and I can play owner mode together for hours honestly. It's great to win a superbowl with a team full of players that you put together AND a coaching staff that you put together. For me, a huge big football fan, I am interested in the turnover of players and coaches to other teams almost as much as the actual season. The offseason was as fun for me in Madden as the actual season. When my brothers and I play we like to do the offseasons and then simulate a lot of the season and only play really important games and games when the teams we are controlling play each other. It's a neat (not necessarily good, but still cool) feeling when you've put together a team that absolutely underachieves and you go into the offseason with the question of should I fire my head coach? or should I just replace a coordinator?
Having said that, if owner mode comes back in next-gen systems (PLEASE), then I would suggest other teams fire their coaches like real teams do, rather than simply waiting till their contracts run out- maybe make it so every team has certain goals going into every year or every three years or something, and if they are not reached then the coach gets axed. Also, I would suggest putting more coaches into the game- for instance, Russ Grimm, who seems to be a candidate for a head coaching job every year, isn't in the owner mode.
And one last thing, I would change the player ratings somehow. Just for instance, you can basically move any linebacker to defensive end and they are basically assured of being good. And conversely, defensive ends are always terrible at linebacker, even though every year we see a defensive end switch to linebacker in a 3-4 defense. Maybe add vision as a running back rating; make chemistry important on some level somehow (ex. Patriots, offensive lines do better when they have been together for a long time); maybe even add "clutch" as a rating (Adam Vinatieri 99)

I know this is a long thread, but I hope these ideas get considered- particularly owner mode. It has been the best part of Madden in the past. Bring it back.

I have a madden wish...

For the Wii version, don't use the Z button as the "tuck and run" when you also hold it down and throw, to throw the ball away. It's a pain when you are sprinting to the flat and try to make a pass, only to throw the ball into the crowd.

I could just time my release of the Z button better, but it would be nice if it was just set up differently.

Also... this is the biggest thing for me... PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, change the way you raise the amount of money when signing a player. At least use one of the buttons as a "speed" increase. I can't tell you how frustrating it is to sit there and push the right arrow for three minutes when you want to show the player the money, then when your thumb gets cramped, you accidentally move the highlighted item down to the years and change it, only to have to start over again. I know you can just hold down the arrow, but it moves up in such slow increments that it will take 4 hours to sign all the players you want.

That is the one thing about the game that I would REALLY like to see changed. If you release a new version of madden, and that was the only change other than the roster update, I would still buy it. Please... for the love of all that is good and decent, fix this problem.

I think that in superstar mode you should be able to have some say in what your team does in the free agency and in the draft. Because from what i have seen the AI makes some really dumb picks. And after all like in real life, if you are a superstar on your team, you will draw other players in, and therefor you should have full control over say the first 2-3 rounds of the draft. As for the free agency i dont really care much for that. The thing i find exciting in madden is making little senerios in my head how my superstar will help a rookie develop and such. So it would be really nice if this could be somehow implemented.

I think what would take the superstar mode to the next level, and someone may have already said this, is that when you create your man play the last game or two as a college player. This could impact your stats and your fan base. After that you could go through the combine and things like that. Another good thing about doing it this way is that your ability to succedd in the NFL could raise more and so you could get drafted higher.

Sounds like a good idea to me. anyone else?

Another thing, I really like the idea of being able to control almost every aspect of a superstars life outside of the game. Things such as signing autographs, donating to charity organizations, if these were in the game then there could be a whole number of features you could add, things suchs as probowl voting. Sometimes people vote for the probowl not just on how well the player did but how much they like him, and if your player was well liked by the fans then he could have a small boost in his votes.

The One thing I would love to see change is the broadcast commentary, sure the radio commentary was different but I don't want to hear this guy(whomever he is) during the Big Games that's when I should be hearing Madden and Michales, yeah I can tolarate the radio broadcast during the pre-season or games that aren't nationally televised, HOWEVER for Sunday and Monday Night Football games the playoffs and the Super Bowl I would just love to hear Madden and Michales doing the color commentary.....

Finally

Finally I have found somewhere to vent my Madden frustrations. Alright I have a few problems with both the current & next gen: (Current)
- Lets see some updated graphics, from the faces, player models, equipment, tattoos, hairstyles, stadium ambience, etc.
- The A.I. is improved but still lacking and at times unrealistic, if Pacman is shutting down Marvin Harrison dont make Pacman get hurt just to make it more competitive, can the last drive before the half and end of game not be totally flawless by the computer.
- The draft, my biggest gripe lies in the computer selections, one year the computer drafted 3 QB's to a team that already had 4, they should draft more realistically, I mean Lienart, Brady Quinn, Jon David Booty, Jamarcus Russell, & Chris Leak should not all be on the same CPU controlled team when I go to start my next season.
- Have the ability to adjust your playbook at the half, I mean they make halftime adjustments in real life, and if I have a defensive assignment set to where my MLB is assigned to the HB can I not scroll through my defense and see either him or my own TE at FS.
- I like a lot of the ideas that I have read about as well, John and Al havent called a Titans game in like 3 years, so lets reserve them to the Sunday Night games, wont make their repetition as obvious. Halftime - in game and around the league updates I am all for that, incentives for contracts, improved distractions meaning like someone posted let me bring him into the office and deal with him either being an old school no nonsense coach or a more understanding one, let me suspend him for conduct detrimental to the team and stuff like that. - Superstar and practices modes well personally I agree with what all my fellow Madden players said.
- Franchise is pretty good, but if I dont ever get affected by anything, moral is never an issue, no matter how good my team is never no one offers me any trades and the CPU rarely does anything either, I never really have any injuries that force other guys to step up or for me to have to actually strategically gameplan even though I selected a much worst training staff and increased the injuries. and if I modify the uniform where are my logos, cool feature just seemed like someone forgot to finish the work on it, and Vick shouldnt lead the league in rushing every year!!!
- If I hit the QB's and they drop the balls I believe those are fumbles (Pats/Raiders tuck rule game), in all-Madden I lose way too many obvious challenges, I wanna see more excitement out of my guys cuz I love those animations where my linemen get amped oh and lets get some flags for too much celebrating.
These are issues I have with the current-gen I will be back to write about the next-gen shortly.

Alright let me start by saying that I stood outside of Best-Buy for a 360 last year when they 1st came out for 16 hours just for Madden and by no means was I pleased, kept it (360 &Madden) for a month then sold it because I was so dissatisfied, and I went and brought my PS2 back so I could go back to having fun and control of my gaming experience. I am going to try it again this year with the PS3 but at least if I dont like the next-gen I could buy the current. I have played this years on the 360 and the PS3, still not moved, its kinda like having a hooked up car, nice rims, system, always clean, waxed, detailed, but the engine stalls, faulty brakes, smokes when u start it, or it doesnt start at all.

- Let's open back up the competition, obviously the exclusive license means nothing to anyone creating this game, are they bored or something or is it the lack of a viable threat?
- The graphics are beautiful (at times) but lets starts with the players, why are they so wide and big, Randy Moss looks like Randy McMichael, Peyton Manning is huge, I know he is 6'6 but he shouldnt be Ray Lewis's size. Everyone is big and bulky, they look like they are they ice skating, the current gen moves better. And weight/size should start being a factor in movements. The individual muscle movements and all of that is cool, as is the new grass textures and field degredation but come on with the smoke and mirrors, this game could look a lot better if im paying for new systems and HDTV's to play it on.
- Can we just have an overall more realistic experience, I love the realism of Madden thats what hooked me when I was 13, I dont make unrealistic things happen in the course of playing, no supermen or anything arcade-ish but when I play it on the 360 it feels like an arcade, I dont even like to control the DB's and I love to play as the FS. It reminds me too much of the 2K series, graphically superior (they had security guards in the yellow jackets...lol) but the gameplay couldnt match Madden, and thats how I feel now, like its one company but 2 different games.
- No owner mode, not cool with that move at all, if u dont like owner mode, then dont play it, but I myself like to build a dynasty, not just play one year or go online all the time, u get a sense of accomplishment when the decisions u as an owner make to change the complextion of ur team, like if u own the raiders and in 2 years turn them back into a powerhouse, thats a good feeling. Too much focus is being put on the online experience, which is cool and I love it but dont forget about what everyone as a whole is buying it for, some people arent built for online and they want a more personal setting when they play, and you shouldnt limit the option of people being able to do so, you wouldnt make a new one and totally cut that part out would u, give us the option of either using stuff or not, dont like owner or superstar, turn it off not totally eliminate it.
- Most current and next-gen complaints are about the same, my thing is keep the graphics (aside from a few cosmetic improvements) gut your design and use the current-gen control, from how guys move, to give the user better control in open space, not just hope they can make a swat on the ball, etc. Since its got the exclusive license and NFL Network logo everywhere why no NFL Network post game stuff, complete online roster updates weekly, I like the local area broadcasts but Sunday games should be based or loosely based on Sunday Football Night In America (with Al & John), and Monday should have Monday Night Football on ESPN, giving the player more of a sense of the magnitude of that game. Have highlights with actual in-game footage from around the leauge, talks with player of the game, good/bad post game locker room interviews which could affect moral such as with fingerpointing, blaming the coach or refs for bad calls, all of which would create off the field issues that u as an owner/coach will have to deal with in the off week maybe even be fined by the leauge sort of like NCAA when players get in trouble, forget the NFL Coach game put that stuff in here, let what TO or Moss say get put on the newspaper since the stories never match up with nothing now, u deal with it right, it will make everything better, deal wrong could cost u ur job midseason.

The next-gen is good but could be much better and if u are looking for actual game issues I have, they are very similar issues on both platforms, current and next-gen. So check my previous entry to see how I feel about in-game stuff. I still play Madden and probably always will but I havent been wowed in a long time, and I think as the people that always play it, stand in line for it, fight with our wives/girlfriends over it, lie to our bosses for it, should be heard.

My Bad

My bad Cash I forgot about the co-op play, I agree with that as well, why was this removed to begin with, like I said dont limit my options. Been reading ur entries, sounds like u have a good understanding of Madden and what its needs, etc. well from what I have read everyone does. I am generally not the guy for the forums and things but I had to get in on a Madden one, and I liked what I was reading on here whereas other ones people were just arguing, you all seem cool and like people I can relate to. Let me get back to my game (playing right now actually) oh and they also need some more attributes, like someone said maybe a cluth attribute, even possibly an ego one ...could make for some interesting scenarios if ur WR isnt happy about his lack of production (or balls coming his way) and he just doesnt run full speed, complains in the huddles, messing up the team focus, then on the flip side have an unflappable QB or K, such as a Brady, or kicker like Vinateri

1.Madden should have pregame drills before your game starts to give your team or single player ratings boosts. While fans are filing into the stands there would be an overhead view of the stadium. You would see 3 stations doing drills, then you would choose one. The 3 drills would be passing/reciveing, trench drills, and a swat ball drill. Based on your preformence on the drills, you would be given certain ratings boosts. The passing/reciveing would consist of your quaterbacks throwing to your WR/TE/RB's. If you want your qb to have rating boosts you can throw to the recievers, but if you wanna give your RB's,TE's, or WR's a boost you can choose to run routes and catch passes from your qb's. The trench drills would have an O-linemen go against one of your D-linemen. You choose which line you want to improve for the game[Offense or Deffense], and you do the trench drill occourdingly for each of your 5 staters on the line of your choice. The swat drills would have your linebackers and defensice backs, try to swat /intercept balls thrown by a coach. The player would stand in a certain spot and the coach would throw the ball in a random place, and you would have to swat or intercept the ball. You would finish after each DB's or LB's[once agian you choose which one you wish to improve] go through the drill. After you complete the ceratin drill, you can stategically give a ratings boost to the group you ran the drills with. These Pre-game options would give madden a whole new stradically base to play the game with.

2.Bring back the fantasy draft.

i think it would be great if they added a part to the franchise mode where you can start in any year sincethe NFL came into being, like i could start in the 1960's,and go through drafts with real players like elway and barry sanders. i think this would bea great feature to add

I never liked the 360 so I've been playin the PS2 all year, but what I'd like is, just like how you can import a draft class, I wish you could import College coaches along with their playbooks... College coaches go to the NFL all the time, not too crazy because I know only about 1 a yr make the jump and sometimes 2, but that would be cool...

I wish the highlight stick only rarely worked, that way when it did it would be something exciting and not just the same old every time...

more realistic pealties, more holdings and PI's...the 5 yd bump rule, 15yds for hitting a guy out of bounds

better gameplanning around a team's star player... if I send an extra blocker every play at Freeny he shouldn't have 4 sacks... If the Titans are playing against the Colts, they should be playing a D to not give up a big play and trying to control clock to beat Peyton...also OLine audibles to pick up blitzes better

more coaches...LB's coaches and QB etc in owner mode

shoukd be harder to get around the salary cap

more realistic fans...EVERYTIME T.O. touches the ball he should get booed

more life like, I know plenty have asked for more realism, but if the Ravens and Chargers move their LB's around to confuse the D in real life, it should be that way in the game...

I actually want MORE commetators...if its a FOX game, I want Troy and Joe Buck, if its MNF, I want Kornheiser(they could do away with Theisman though)

Home-field advantage should absolutely matter

My wish for the Madden 2008 thread -

Make better use of spacing in your posts. It literally hurts my eyes to read a post that has 22 lines with no spaces. Therefore, I won't bother.
