When there is a funble in the NFL 7 out of 10 times the players are going to fight for that ball. The refs come over to the pile, and try to spread everyone off the pile to see who has the ball. With this, NFL players will do what they need to do, in order to get that ball. SO, there should be a "fight for the ball" mode where you and the CPU/Player you are playing against fight for the ball, underneath the pile, and you can gain/loose control of the ball. It just matters who has the ball when the ref clears the pile. :biggthump
I agree with what both you guys have said...I thought the idea of fight for the ball might be cool, but maybe make the game too arcade style in nature, if it was say a button bashing affair as it likely would be.
I also think when you press dive, they should dive to the ball, when you press it they just dive any which way, it is definately something to be improved, good point.

OF all the things the game needs, I don't think it needs QB drop-kick field goals. How many times has that been done in the last 20 years??
A pile up for fumbles would be a nice feature and I wouldn't mind if it were a button mashing issue. How else would you make it work? In real life, it's just a wild scramble for the ball. Awareness doesn't matter, strength doesn't matter, it's just a matter of who has the ball when the refs pull the players off. I think it would be fun to be mashing buttons with a buddy waiting to see which team has the ball at the bottom of the pile.

Chario I agree...But I think if they introduce that, it becomes a slippery slope towards an arcade style game...Not the reason many of us buy Madden.
If they introduced that, and left the button bashing arcade style like that, then that is ok. But if it was successful, they would be tempted in to adding more features like that...And before you know it, the Madden of old is gone, to be replaced by an arcade style game..

i think an easy way to make the fumbles more crasy would be to implement a trigger where once a ball is fumbled every player on the field receives an 'adrenaline boost' of sorts, and their speed/accel are increased by some %. because a DL isnt going to be running his average speed when he sees the ball fumbled there on the ground, hes gonna be bookin it down the field AS FAST AS POSSIBLE in order to get that ball.
this i think would be nice, because too often when i see ball fumbles, those fat slow guys are still walking around like steam tanks, so they rarely recover any fumbles. in real life thats not so. in real life, a DL or OL could easily outrun me in even in his pads, so it doesnt make sense that they would be going so slow in madden. now, a DL outrunning a WR is another matter, but they could at least go faster than a slow jog, especially upon the fumble.
my opinion... I like the idea of button mashing for it... cause it shows intensity of the fumble. I just don't like it when your player just walks right over the ball, not picking it up.

For Madden people the best way to explain it is that he has a very low awareness.
when I think of a fumble, I think of a golden opportunity for both teams to get another try at offense. so if you make it a button mashing contest it would make the game more interesting, whoever wants the ball more will get the ball more.

There are so many small details that could make the game go to the next level. Like a different setting for monday night games, no big celebration after the championship game. There is no intereaction between headcoach and quaterback no sign of a defensive coach anywhere. The fans are not in the game enough on the big plays to help the comeback are just secure the victory.
Yep something does need to be done with the monday night games and the super bowl, it would be cool if in the super bowl during you franchise season you could see what the other team is saying about you like if any of the other players are doing trash talking or the same as your own players, or they could use this throught the whole season.
