O-line Improvements

It seems like every time the people at EA fix one problem, a new one pops up.I shouldn't even say that about the O-line because they never really fixed it very well. What sucks about pass protection is you have to shift your line. If the D-line shifts and you don't shift your O-line in that direction, they WILL NOT pick it up on their own.

Another problem with pass protection is the CPU's pass protection is 10x better than human pass protection. Reason #1 being that CPU linemen knock everybody down like they're the Incredible Hulk and the D-line is a bunch of PeeWee League kids. Secondly, the CPU O-line doesn't create a pocket. What I mean by that is they all drop back like two steps and block everyone. Normally, the Tackles drop futher back while the Guards and Center stay up. This creates a pocket and it protects the QB from speed rushers around the edge. But the CPU's pass protection is so good, they never form a pocket and it is pretty much impossible to beat one of their tackles around the corner. Meanwhile, human controlled O-linemen can get beat around the corner by guys who aren't even fast.

So EA please remove those pancake blocks from the game and give the CPU more realistic pass protection.

I have none of these problems. I play on All Madden and in my current franchise I have led the league in sacks every season as a team. Kerney led the league once as an individual and Pollack another year.

I don't blitz and use my front four to pass rush only.

On offense if you take 4 steps back, the line forms a nice little pocket that I have no problem with either.

From my own playing experience it's a lot easier to play on the higher levels of difficulty if you mix up your plays and have a bit of an idea of how to read coverage. It's a lot easier to pass when you know about where a guy is gonna be and wether it's cover 2, 3, or man. Being able to recognize blitz and safeties rolling over the top will help too. Sometimes it's not that your lineman are doing a bad job, just that you are in the pocket too long.

I know exactly what you mean. The actual length of time one has to throw the ball is totally unrealistic! The only passes that are ever successful are quick slant-ins with little two-step drops. Fall back any further and you've got serious problems. I've always considred Madden's greatest shortcomings to be its unrealistic blocking (or lack of blocking). I'm lucky if I can actually field one punt per game, as there's typically three defenders standing right on my toes when the ball comes down. Fair catch! Again! Surprise! The worst part is that in the instant replay I'll watch two or three of my "blockers," just stand there right in front of me and let everyone go past. The O-line tends to do the same sort of thing--give up way to easily on a rishing DE and then tear off into the secondary. Where're you goin', guys? Anyway, I've always wanted a realistic four or five seconds on some passing downs, but I rarely get more than 2 or 3 if my line's really good.
